Pena D'Água Boutique Hotel & Villas

A very nice hotel that needs a good fine-tuning to be worth the price. Our room (108) was very well decorated, really big, but: heating wasn't working, and it was quite cold despite the added electrical heater. The smoking detectors have a light that blink all night long above the bed. And the mattress is not comfortable, very hard. But the service (especially at breakfast) was really nice and friendly with our daughter. Breakfast was really good. They also have a very good restaurant.

Location is good in the center of covilhã. Staff was very attentive and ready to help. A few negative points: 1. The main reason I wouldn’t come back is that they gave the hot air con as the only option at the rooms in winter, no availability to open a window ir anything of the sorts, terrible for sleeping. Asked at reception and they didn’t have any solution. 2.The say they have charging stations but there us only one and need prior reservation, they were really nice to let us park on the other side and use a wall plug but it wasn’t fast nor practical, it would be nice to have this very clear upon reservation. 3. Hotel restaurant is ok, staff is great and the waiter was amazing in all the suggestions and wine indication. The food was ok, tried to elevate the dishes but still need work on the basics, fish was too raw and the veal cheeks was very tender but to greasy. Overall price paid at the hotel and the restaurant were not matching the quality expected in both services, expected more.

Booked this "upscale boutique" hotel for New Year’s Eve, but it was a huge letdown. Despite booking early, the restaurant was fully booked, and no one warned us or offered reservations beforehand. The room? Tiny, cheap finishes, no bathtub, no amenities—just a Nespresso machine. For the price, it’s nowhere near boutique level. One star, and that’s generous.

I am giving the hotel 4 stars because of the restaurant, we had an incredible dinner, with delicious produce and meat and great service. The rooms however, are small and the bathroom has no door so you can hear your mate business clearly, the room for really warm around 3 am. The pool is very nice and relaxing. Did not use the spa so I can not comment but looks great. Going up to the observatory is a most, the scenery is second to none, take your time and go for a hike it is also where the Tour of Portugal ends one of the most dificulte faces. Worth the stay.

We spent 3 days over Christmas at Pena D’Água and the experience was magical! |It was our 2nd time staying and this time we brought our family & puppy to spend Christmas at this lovely hotel. |On the first night, my husband couldn’t sleep because of noise from a leak in the bathroom, and the next day we were promptly upgraded to a better room. |We had Christmas Eve dinner at the hotel’s restaurant Açafrão, which in our opinion, was better than some Michelin Star meals we have had. The attention to detail, the quality of the food, the service… everything was incredible. |The coziness of the hotel and friendliness of the staff is unmatched. The team went above and beyond to ensure our stay was super special. |A special thank you to Francisco and Nuno for making our stay so incredibly pleasant. Their professionalism and kindness made all the difference! We booked this place mostly because of the spa space and the indoor heated pool. The pool was flat out cold (totally cold switched off) everytime we tried to use it. We complained at the reception several times. They said many times over the course of 2 days they would turn it on. They never did, and made us wait all the while. We later read reviews of other guests also complaining at the lack of heating in the rooms in the winter. Bottom line, the hotel seems to want to save money on energy bills at the expense of customers. |Theres a lack of privacy between the toillet, the shower and the bed space which are not separated. Don’t recommend for people who are still getting to know each others toilet habits. The staff is friendly, they mislead you with a great smile on their face. DONT GO!

They never did, and they made us wait. The hotel is well located but the rooms are not worth cost-benefit. The staff is friendly, they lie to you with a smile on their face.

We had the most incredible honeymoon experience at this hotel! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. The room was beautifully decorated with flowers, and we were pleasantly surprised with a bottle of champagne. The level of service and hospitality here is truly outstanding. The staff members are attentive and genuinely caring, ensuring that every aspect of our stay was perfect. The cleanliness of the hotel was also impeccable, which added to our comfort. One standout moment was when the receptionist took the time to plan an entire trip for us the next day. Their thoughtful recommendations made our day memorable and hassle-free. We can't thank the staff enough for making our honeymoon so magical. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and unforgettable experience.
