The parking signs for the disabled parking are ambiguous and incorrect,so it's not very clear. Friendly staff and great afternoon spent looking round Penndennis Castle and grounds. Whilst looking around the fun room within the main part of the castle we were approached by Don,one of the English Heritage staff who could see that our disabled daughter was enjoying reading the information in each room. He approached me and asked if we wanted an explanation and tour of the castle, which we agreed. He was fabulous taking time to explain what each room was for and pitching it at a level that our daughter could understand and relate to. He checked in after each room to ensure she had understood the information. He was interesting and very informative and especially kind and compassionate with our daughter as he took time and effort to ensure she took something from the experience. I asked if he had any experience with Additional needs as he was so good with our daughter, he hadn't I'm particular but had experience of working with young people. Don was definitely an asset to English Heritage and made our trip informative and memorable. The grounds and views were amazing and we felt very much connected to that part of history from his storytelling. The station the teashop were also good and cakes delicious.. All staff were friendly and great,I'd it hadn't of been for the confusion over the signage for disabled parking I would have given this a 5 star review. Definitely worth a visit.

Google
Great for all age groups and all mobilities with parking for the less mobile inside the castle grounds. Well maintained grounds with Taskmaster activities for children. Lots of canons to look at and imagine them in use in the English Civil war. The map in the guide book is a bit misleading in that it appears that the site is three times bigger than it actually is which was a good thing as my friend and I have mobility issues and we managed to walk the site easily. There were exhibitions on and the Keep was open but due to time restraints we were unable to see these. It has a large shop with a great collection of souvenirs of all kinds. The tea room looks to have a nice menu

Google
Highly recommend the free tour. Lots of information about the history of the castle and the local area. We originally went for the Taskmaster collaboration as we were in the area. But didn't end up doing many of the tasks as were busy exploring the castle instead. Overall a great day.

We went for the jousting tournament, which was brilliant, but there was a huge range of entertainment which was suitable for all ages and it was all included in the price. We also visited the castle and museum. There’s a lovely cafe, but the food and drink is expensive. There was plenty of car parking.

Chose a sunny day and you'll be rewarded with stunning views over to St Mawes and Falmouth. The Military history spans the moments of crisis in British history; 16th century, the Nepoleonic wars and WW1/ 2. Superb info boards and exemplary English Hetitage staff dealing with an unexpected group of cruise ship visitors. Coffee in cafe to finish was just as good!

A 16th century battlement peaks above the ring of earthworks around Pendennis Castle in Falmouth, England, From the mid 16th to the early 19th century these fortifications defended England against seabourne invaders from across the English Channel. In 1542 King Henry VIII ordered construction of the castle on a promontory overlooking the channel to protect England against invasion by the Spanish or French.

Interesting historical buildings, with plenty of information available. Easy to find, and onsite parking. It really only takes an hour to walk around the whole site, so it's a pleasant break from driving if you're passing through the area.

Yelp
Quality/Quantity - Huge grounds, and sadly, we realized after leaving that we only walked half of it. Well, we have and will be visiting so many castles on this trip. Atmosphere - Several routes to the entrances of the castle, all of which take about the same time. We walked one route to the castle, and left with a different more scenic waterway route. Business hours are seasonal, see picture, Yelp, or website. It is best to check the website prior to going. But the walk to and from the castle is also good. Service - Good. Price - 18 pounds, not including a discount of almost 2 pounds when you show them you are from the cruise ship, see picture. Owner Suggestion - Congrats on your success since the 1540's.

Yelp
Pendennis Castle is THE major historic attraction in Falmouth, and a must-see upon visiting this small town on the Cornwall coast. Historically, the exhibits cover a period from between the reign of Henry VIII up to WWII, as Pendennis was still used as a military fort in the 1940s. In short: If you love cannons (And who doesn't!), you will want to visit this place! Also, you get splendid views of Falmouth Bay. The main castle compound is rather small indeed, and most of the "minor rooms" (like the quarter of the commandant) are essentially empty. No attempt has been made to re-create some of the furniture or objects to allow us a glimpse into how soldiers lived and worked during those days, which is what costs Pendennis Castle the fifth star in the rating, and even the printed information in the individual rooms is rather sparse. The main tower does feature a sizeable selection of historical cannons, and a (rather lame) black-and-white back projected attempt at an animation of how the soldiers were working the batteries. More impressive are the other military displays around the compound, and the fairly large grounds that you'll spend time walking in. These are mostly weapons from WWII, but there is another historic battery, too (some of the cannons are currently being restored). The area itself is a beautiful corner of Cornwall, and the views in and around the castle in themselves certainly merit a visit and the about UKP 10 you have to pay for them. The presentation is a tad old-fashioned, which also concerns the smallish gallery of barracks life, a building that also houses the rather lovely café with its nice outside seating area. All in all, Pendennis Castle makes a great day out for the family when the weather is good. A small shop features the usual souvenirs and you can also by a book-quality guide of the history of Pendennis Castle for a rather competitive UKP 4. There are no audio guides available. The staff were really nice and helpful when I visited, the atmosphere is very relaxed. See my pictures for a more detailed impression of the individual objects and attractions.

Yelp
I spent the summer in Cornwall and had a fantastic place. I tried to see as much of it as I could. I think the castle itself is worth 3 stars, rather than 4 but the setting (it's on a peninsula that sticks out far into the sea) is so beautiful that I'll give it the 4. The castle itself is fairly small but interesting enough to be worth seeing if you're already in the area. So, don't go to Cornwall on account of the castle alone, but if you're near Pendennis, take a look!

Yelp
Henry the VIII's original gunnery castle surrounded by Elizabethan gunnery fort surrounded by Civil War fortifications bolstered by Georgian , Victorian , First World War and Second World War additions . It's been at the centre of Britain's defences right up to the 50's . Fascinating place to visit .

Yelp
Castles make me feel like I've stepped back into history. This one is a fairly old one as far as castles go and seems to be well maintained. The staff was friendly and it was fun to walk around the grounds and go to the top of the highest point and see the entire town of Falmouth. Many of it seemed empty, however. We were left wondering what some of the places were and what purpose they served whilst other ones were overly done with sound effects and animatronics. Students receive a concessions price, so make sure you have your student ID with you when you go!

Yelp
First of all, it's a beautiful place with superb views to the sea, to the city, to the habour. As far as we could go and see, very interesting history with military impact till the WW. For all this 5* from the heart, but closing the cafeteria on a saturday at 15.30 and not announcing something like that on the website!!?? We visited a garden earlier that day and desperately needed to pause and have something to drink before we could move on and visit the other houses on that ground. But as I said, the cafeteria just closed, so we had to leave without having seen everything and stumbled to the city to get something to drink. I think it is a shame, that you pay the entrance fee and are just not informed about something like that. Moreover on that day a wedding was going on and I'm not quite sure if the castle was open for the public till 5 pm.

Yelp
Large castle on headland overlooking Falmouth Harbour and across from St Mawes. The castle has been a pivotal defence for the harbour for hundreds of years. It played a vital role in the Civil War and continued during the Second World War. The exhibits cover the full range of its fascinating history. Worth checking the local press for special events and theme days.

Yelp
A visit to Pendennis Castle in my opinion is a very interesting and educational way to spend a day in Falmouth. Pendennis Castle is on the coast of Falmouth, where the River Fal meets the sea. I was surprised to find how much has happened in the history of this castle since it was built over 400 years ago. Recently I went to a wedding at Pendennis castle, which I thought was good but members of the public could see some of the ceremony which spoiled it a little. Overall I think this is a great place to take your family if you want to learn something new.

Yelp
As a location, Pendennis castle is one of the best. But Sadly I would not recommend it for a wedding. 0/10 Value for money. 1/10 for venue hosting. No decoration or table cloths or chairs supplied. Rushed in and rushed out service. Registrar was patronizing, and there was no effort to helping with the detail of the day. If you want to visit and learn more about the local history you will enjoy your day out. But if you are planning your wedding here go somewhere else.
