We had to stay somewhere being on the island (oh, correction!... Mainland) and our good friend booked us close to his residence... this place. There's a big banner over the pub stating room rates starting at $50 a night, really didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised with what I got. I have never been on the Sunshine Coast and looking at things I was passing by, I really didn't have any expectations. After a day of not getting much sleep, some good boozing, being on the water, and chilling out with good friends, I was exhausted, like give me a bed so I can shut down. We were guided to this place and was amazed the backside was facing Pender Harbour, but how good can this place be, I mean it's above a pub.
One flight of stairs after checking in we went into our room, they provide you two keys, one for the front door of the building, the other for the room (no scanning card keys, get your mind out of the big city life!), and no elevator, just a flight of stairs. We were lucky to have a room facing the harbour, it was clean, roomy, and quiet. No carpets here, which I actually like, as you know that it's easier for the cleaners, and also for yourself to walk around and know there is no build-up in the fabrics. There was a regular box tv, two night tables with lamps, a desk, a coffee machine, and a full washroom with tub and shower.
You really have to take your mind out of what you see, or have lived in today and to a simplier time of yesterday coming to a hotel like this, many will think it is a motel for the size of the building and the ammenities but for what your getting for the money your paying, it is really good. Free parking up front, a liquor store that is seperate from the pub downstairs, and a tranquil view that you don't get in the big city. The staff there were very friendly and we had a very good sleeping night.
Some things of note on our stay, the water pressure on the shower head was a little weak, and the blinds on the window didn't come down (it was like a portrait view out of our room thought) thank goodness it was a gloomy day or the sunlight probably would have been shining bright and waking us up at 6 am, but it was just nice to lay there looking out the window. If your this far on the Sunshine Coast, want value for the buck I wouldn't hesitate staying here.
