If you happen to get a room on the view side of the harbor it is spectacular. The other side faces the highway. My room was poorly cleaned. It was incredibly dusty and toilet not clean upon arrival. Bed was comfortable, but blinds let light in early. Bring an eye mask if staying here. It was cool in June but these rooms would be hot in the summer with no A/C. Maybe skip the hotel and visit the pub with the same incredible view instead. Hotel needs improvements and attention to detail which is lacking.

Stayed at the hotel. The room had no AC. Every surface was covered in dust. The ceiling fan had such a thick layer on it I wouldn’t turn it on despite the heat. The bathroom wasn’t clean. The toilet had a ring in it. The shower curtain stained with pink mold. The bed was very uncomfortable. Most of the window screens were torn so the bugs came in at night when all the windows were open at night to make it bearable. It felt like the room was cleaned at the end of season last year and not cleaned again prior to our stay. The view was beautiful but not worth it. Will not be going back.

We did not stay at the hotel but stopped by the grasshopper pub on Friday the 13th. Our waitress was amazing, the food was delish! It was hard to pick something because everything sounded so good. The scenery was breathtaking. Well worth the drive. Thank-you for a lovely time.

The food at pub is very average but the view and service are lovely. If they improved their food this place would be killer.

This place has the most beautiful view from the patio of the boats and peninsula. We ordered the cod and chips 1 piece. Should've ordered the 2 piece. The fish pieces were very very small. We had the chicken pot pie as well. The chicken potpie was overflowing comfort food. Very delicious. The appetizer we chose was the seafood chowder. Save your money here. The chowder was disappointing. Drinks were cold and wet and service was good for the most part. They were clear the moment you walk in the door that they were having staff shortage issues which would make your food take long to arrive. We didn't find the food took too long but we had to ask for our appetizer of chowder to show up after we were already eating our meal. We ended up wishing we had passed on it because it was nothing to write home about it. I still recommend coming here. The view alone was worth it but the cod and chips and chicken pot pie especially brought this meal home. Thanks Grasshopper!

Yelp
We had to stay somewhere being on the island (oh, correction!... Mainland) and our good friend booked us close to his residence... this place. There's a big banner over the pub stating room rates starting at $50 a night, really didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised with what I got. I have never been on the Sunshine Coast and looking at things I was passing by, I really didn't have any expectations. After a day of not getting much sleep, some good boozing, being on the water, and chilling out with good friends, I was exhausted, like give me a bed so I can shut down. We were guided to this place and was amazed the backside was facing Pender Harbour, but how good can this place be, I mean it's above a pub. One flight of stairs after checking in we went into our room, they provide you two keys, one for the front door of the building, the other for the room (no scanning card keys, get your mind out of the big city life!), and no elevator, just a flight of stairs. We were lucky to have a room facing the harbour, it was clean, roomy, and quiet. No carpets here, which I actually like, as you know that it's easier for the cleaners, and also for yourself to walk around and know there is no build-up in the fabrics. There was a regular box tv, two night tables with lamps, a desk, a coffee machine, and a full washroom with tub and shower. You really have to take your mind out of what you see, or have lived in today and to a simplier time of yesterday coming to a hotel like this, many will think it is a motel for the size of the building and the ammenities but for what your getting for the money your paying, it is really good. Free parking up front, a liquor store that is seperate from the pub downstairs, and a tranquil view that you don't get in the big city. The staff there were very friendly and we had a very good sleeping night. Some things of note on our stay, the water pressure on the shower head was a little weak, and the blinds on the window didn't come down (it was like a portrait view out of our room thought) thank goodness it was a gloomy day or the sunlight probably would have been shining bright and waking us up at 6 am, but it was just nice to lay there looking out the window. If your this far on the Sunshine Coast, want value for the buck I wouldn't hesitate staying here.

Yelp
Came in to see if we could rent a room and was told the hotel wasn't open yet, would be in the summer later this year. We were here in May. Asked for a recommendation for another hotel, and the gal working in the liquor store was happy to accomodate. A little odd because the front desk for the hotel is also the front for the liquor store. Learned the building burnt down two years ago and they rebuilt everything. There's a liquor store and a restaurant in the same building.

Yelp
Don't let the fancy website fool you, this is an old cheap motel that got a facelift. Although it looks nice, they cut corners on almost everything you see. The rooms are hot, beds are very uncomfortable, and to kick you while you are down, there are bright lights outside your window all night long. Probably the only way to get any sleep here is by getting really drunk at the pub below. Oh, you should know they're are no "one bedroom" or "two bedroom" here. What they have is one room, and one room with two beds in it. By the way, people who operate the "hotel" are totally aware of the shit sandwich they were given, and they do a stellar job at customer service, they are wonderful. But, if you put lipstick on a pig and call it a racing horse, it's still a pig.

Yelp
We found this hotel above the pub when we had a bad experience up the road at Ruby Lake Resort. We were greeted by Nadine who was super approachable and friendly and easily decided we would spend our money here at this Hotel rather than the other place. The cleanliness of the room, with the great view of the harbour, and the good eats at the pub made this a very good decision. But to be honest, Nadine's empathy with the situation we came from made this a place we know we will return to and recommend to our friends, both on and off the coast. Thanks Nadine!!!
