Amazing location. History, culture and Nature all around you. Our vegetarian dinner was a very pleasant surprise. They really made an effort for us. Tasteful salad and soup, great lasagne and lovely dessert. Breakfast was also well catered. Staff is very friendly. Defenitely recommended!

My wife and myself were on our roadtrip in the north of Portugal when late in the day we arive at a beautiful church with a hotel next to it. We were wondering of the had a room available, they had. The staff was so helpful. The food was excellent and not expensive. We wanted to read a book at a nice warm place so they put on a fire in the fireplace of the living room. We had a nice warm evening with great whine. We closed our stay with a nice breakfast. We had plenty of food to choice from.|The room they gave us had a nice view of the curch. |We really highly recommend this hotel.

We had a lovely room, very clean and comfortable. It was in a nice, peaceful setting and our host was very friendly and helpful. The Sanctuary is very nice and walking up and down the steps you can look into all the little chapels. There is no waterfall behind the hotel now since a dam was built above it to form a lake. We walked up the steep, rocky path (all switchbacks) It took us an hour with some stops but it was very nice to sit by the lake. It was another hour coming down taking it steady (our sticks would have been useful) Worth the walk (we are in our 60's) We ate in the restaurant (note: the price includes starter, main, dessert, wine, water and coffee - 33 euros for two) Food was very good and substantial so don't snack beforehand.

Very romantic, Lovely Energy! Very spacious rooms, everything there you need, and the atmosphere is real special. The only reason I do not give the fifth star is that it was freezing cold in the room and the heating didn’t work. But the owners of the hotel put on the fireplace in the living room, so that was cozy And we could warm up! The owners of the hotel really tried, but the freezing cold room was a hassle. I was there in the beginning of April, usually the weather is not supposed to be so bad, I guess it was just bad luck with the cold. I would always come back.

We really enjoyed our overnight at this hotel. set deep in the Peneda section of Portugal's spectacular Peneda-Geres National Park. The hotel is new and the rooms modern, spacious and very comfortable; it is fair to say the bathroom was luxurious. Splendid views of the steep valley from our window and along the drive into the National Park, though that was not for the faint-hearted if you are behind the wheel of a rental car (and on the 'other' side of the road).||The township was bustling with tourist coaches on the (Sunday) afternoon we arrived, but by late afternoon it was dead quiet and the hotel had only half a dozen guests. We only stayed one night - any more might be pushing it in terms of finding things to do. The local village is tiny and eating options aside from the hotel are few and far between. ||Breakfast was part of the tariff and was fine - juice, bread for toast, cakes, fruit and coffee. We ate dinner in the hotel (not many options here) and it was a set menu for 15 or 20 Euros per person. Standard Portuguese menu offerings of meat or fish for main, plus bread, cheese and chorizo nibbles, wine, coffee and dessert. Quantity of food was not an issue, but too bad if you're a vegetarian. It seemed all the wait staff were from Colombian - spoke great Spanish but not much English.

This is a lovely little hotel, set within a beautiful old building on a charming praça, just opposite the tiny village of Peneda and beneath a glorious mountain.||||The rooms are very convenient. They are modern, new or perhaps just been refurbished, spotlessly clean, with wooden floors and a basic but quite sufficient furniture to go with, giving it all a good ambiance. The bathroom is very well planned and, again, spotless. The place is run by an efficient young man, and the owner, Manuel, who seems to come by quite often, is very talkative and helpful. ||Breakfast is basic but good, and dinner is rich and satisfying (try the house white wine).||||On the down side - the public seating place/lounge on the second floor (where our room was) is not very inviting; on the first floor it's much nicer. The rooms lack air conditioning, which may be a bit of a problem during high summer. In our case a small ventilator did the job not too badly.||||All in all It is a place to come back to, and definitely a good value for your money.

Situated directly at the Santuary da Peneda this hotel offers very well renovated rooms in the ancient building where the curators of the Santuary used to live. Everything is build to the best standard. Also there is a pretty good restaurant downstairs and a very cosy lobby with an open fire on the second floor. Since this little valley is located so far away from the rest of the world it is very, very quiet. The only thing you can hear at night is the sound of the big and pretty high waterfall behind the house. ;D

Booked this hotel on internet, was not disappointed on its position in the national park. Good place to stay and visit the area. Hotel is clean and very modern inside, has a small restaurant attached. Food good for area but no English spoken. Hotel reception spoke clear English. Good TV with international programs with a good quality picture for a change. Had a lounge, no bar, Rooms clean with modern bathrooms.
