Penmar Recreation Center

A decent recreation center with large baseball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts and a playground. Restrooms are located outside the center building. Parking is from Lake St only, pedestrians can access the park from Rose Ave.

Great low-key park in a residential neighborhood. Overall, this park has all the amenities you need in a park. The only drawback that stands out is the grass areas in the baseball fields. Lots of uneven ground and potholes, it's very easy for someone to get injured. Can the city possibly smooth out the dirt areas and install grass that will make it look appealing and safe?

I love this neighborhood park. Usually quiet until the kids play games/practice on the fields. Not the cleanest but definitely well kept park. A parking lot and plenty of unrestricted street parking available. On the north side of the park, I've seen a rise in tent campers over the Last year, but as long as you're smart, the homeless are pretty harmless.

Big park with lots of activities to choose from, including tennis and a playground. However it's a little cramped and is crowded at peak times. Easy parking though. In terms of tennis: The tennis courts are in poor shape. They're certainly playable but the nets are falling apart and there's no fence between most courts so your balls are always spilling onto the neighboring court. The lines are fading too. Worst of all are the crowds. On weeknights only 1 or 2 courts may be open. On weekend mornings, forget about it. You'll be waiting for a court, but even once you get one, you'll be constantly interrupted by people asking you when you'll be done and reminding you of the very short time limit. Frustrating experience.

Great Basketball program! So excited they finally have a basketball camp during the Summer! Great Staff. So happy they play year round basketball. My boys look forward to going. Definately recommend. We live in Santa Monica wish it was closer but willing to do the drive.

Played tennis here but now I play pickleball and WHY oh WHY are we not making the courts available to pickleball players (even if only two have pavement in good condition) that's 32 people that can be getting fit (our country has an obesity problem as u may have heard) and finally an activity that embraces.size, age , sports background. Let's GET PEOPLE on these courts!
