Penn Street Kitchen

The pretzels and queso, Mexican Egg rolls, chicken pot pie, short rib stroganoff, and the chocolate lava cake were all amazing! So yummy!! The cocktails were good too! I've been to Penn Street Kitchen twice, but I'd love to go back again to try even more of the delicious sounding dishes on the menu!

Penn Street Kitchen is an absolute standout. Ben, Chris, Veronica, and the entire team make you feel genuinely welcomed from the moment you walk in-warm, attentive service without ever feeling rushed. The happy hour menu is fantastic-great flavors, great value, and consistently delicious. It’s the kind of spot where you try one thing and immediately start planning what you’ll order next time. The atmosphere is incredible: stylishly decorated, with a cool, modern vibe. The music sets the tone without overwhelming the room, so you can still have a real conversation (a rare gift these days!). It’s energetic but still comfortable, making it perfect for a casual night out or a relaxed date night. Highly recommend Penn Street Kitchen—already can’t wait to go back.

My friends and I randomly found Penn Street Kitchen after trying to figure out where to go for brunch following a 5k at Wash Park. We knew nothing about the restaurant, but the menu looked good. Long story short, we ended up staying for hours because the food and service were amazing. Everything that our server, Shaunna, recommended was fabulous. The breakfast potatoes were amazing and the recommended beverages were so tasty. The general manager, Shannon, was also so friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be going back.

I have lived in Englewood my whole life and I had no idea this place was here. A friend told me about it and I am so grateful they did. The bartender who waited on us was so friendly and efficient and answered all of our questions about this new place. In addition, the food was phenomenal!! I ordered the pretzel bites and the prime dip which was the best I have ever had. I HIGHLY recommend this place and I cannot wait to return to try more food items.

Such a welcome addition to the area. Great service both times we've been and also enjoyed the atmosphere. Short rib stroganoff is amazing! I'd skip the wedge salad, which had far too much glaze from the pork belly bits for my taste, making it a bit sweet. Will surely become a staple we frequent!

We ate there last evening. My husband had the chicken pot pie - which was deconstructed, so the sauce and veggies were on the bottom, the puff pastry next and the chicken strips were on top. He said it was very tasty. I had the fish tacos. While delicious, they had a real kick! For dessert, we shared the lava cake which came with vanilla ice cream. The molten part of the cake had a slight strawberry flavor. It was great! We really enjoyed our meal. Kelly was our server and she was attentive, there when we needed her and not when we didn't. We were seated by windows on 2 sides and we were afraid it would be cold but it wasn't. The restaurant decor is very pleasant, although the music could have been softer (which would have fit the style of the restaurant better) but that seems to be the modern way. They have an extensive bar. The restaurant is fairly new - everything seemed new, clean, spacious. We'll be back!!

A really beautiful restaurant with excellent service and food. The old fashion was tasty. The spare rib stroganoff, shrimp fried rice, and the peach salmon were all hits with our party. I highly recommend the brussel sprouts as well.

The decor is classy modern and the atmosphere is very relaxing. The service was timely and Veronica was an attentive knowledgeable server. I've eaten both breakfast and dinner. For breakfast I had the baked sweet potato with apples, nuts and a caramel sauce that shocked me at how delusions it really was. For dinner I had the short rib enchiladas with a creamy jalapeno sauce. I'm from real close to the Texas and Mexico Border right on the Gulf of Mexico and I LOVED those enchiladas. I will be going back for more of both dishes..... Soon!

We went here on New Year's Eve and had a bad experience. It was slow so there was no excuse for poor service. Waited ten minutes to place a drink order and then another 15 to get the drinks. Order a second drink halfway through the meal and we had to remind the server, another ten minute wait for drinks. The enchiladas were dry, not good at all. I had the chefs special, some collard greens and bacon dish, my mistake but I didn't pee for two days it was so salty. We've scratch this place off of our list of restaurants. Very unfortunate because we liked it the first time we went.

I'm the worst and took too long to write this. Nice space with free parking in the garage (at least when we went). Staff was friendly. We went for brunch. I'm pretty sure I got a benedict, but I can't remember. I do remember it being a solid restaurant with something for everyone. Definitely recommend for a no frills, easy going meal.

The food was delicious! Everyone at the table ordered something different and we all liked what we got. The service was a little slow, but I think it's because there seemed to be only 2 people working. However they were very friendly and we did not wait long for our food after ordering. I'd love to come back here and hope they do well!

First time here for a good friends goodbye breakfast. The place got filled with people in no time. No surprise there. Food was good. Service excellent and very accommodating.

This place is a gem!!! The food is amazing!!! The menu choices of all their dishes are incredible. The presentation of every dish is beautifully crafted. The inside decor is modern & beautiful! Plenty of seating & a huge U shaped bar. Penelope our waitress and bartender was personable,attentive & wonderful. I encourage everyone to go and try this place out!!! I will definitely be back again!

I had a lovely brunch here with my former coworkers. I loved the ambience, the service, and the food. I ordered biscuits and gravy with eggs and bacon. The gravy was flavorful and just the right amount of spicy. I also ordered coffee and a minosa, both of which were solid. The hash brown potatoes were crazy good too, as was the cinnamon roll pancake.

My husband and I went here for dinner a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it! The atmosphere was great and service was good. The food was the best part. We had deviled eggs for an app and my husband got the chicken pot pie and I got the pasta. I scored a4 because my husband didn't rave about the pot pie but did enjoy it. There were a lot of things we wanted to try so we'll definitely be back soon!

A friend and I had lunch here today. A neighbor of mine had eaten here and recommended Penn to us. As we were entering, two older ladies were exiting and we asked them: "How was the food?" They said it was great. I ordered the prime dip sandwich. The hoagie roll was fabulous, my favorite. The au jus was also good. The meat itself was kind of curled up and a little bit chewy. Lemonade is Minute Maid from the soda machine, always a disappointment to me. My friend had a breakfast order of mountain man Benny, still available at 1245PM. He was totally pleased with it. Service was good, but I felt a certain amount of apathy among the staff. Ambiance was kind of a corporate feel. The place is brand new and very clean. It's also very large and it wasn't very crowded at lunch. Overall, it was good, but well short of the "great" that the ladies exiting the place rated it when we entered.

Met a friend for lunch and the food and service were great. My only complaint was they did inform us that the "free" garage parking needed to be Validated. We both ended up paying $12 for a little over an hour to park. The restaurant needs to do a better job of informing their customers of the situation.

Loved that the powers that be finally put this great restaurant across the street from Swedish Hospital. Looking at the extensive menu, my eyes landed on the Jam burger, which made me think of the Great Divide. And yes, they are part of that chain and that is such a good thing! Love the decor, the staff (Penelope!) and the food is excellent! They are helpful, empathetic to the concerns of the community and if needed, a beverage is waiting.

This place was incredible! They had a full bar service with very yummy drinks and our server was amazing. We started with the salmon croquettes which is a must. These had a lot going on in the best way possible. Then we had the short rib stroganoff-I don't typically love stroganoff and I was obsessed with this dish. The meat was very tender and juicy and the sauce for the stroganoff was a 11/10. We randomly got a chili dog special of theirs which was also awesome. The Greek salad was probably my least fav of them all but it was still good. There is a ton of construction outside this building at the moment but don't let it scare you away. This place is well worth the inconvenience at the moment. I can't wait to go back here asap.

The food was excellent, I would really love to give this place 5 stars but the service was not good at all. There were maybe 6 tables on a Sunday afternoon, not at all busy. After more than 5 minutes of sitting there, no one had stopped by so we asked the guy that delivered the food to the table next to us if he could send someone over. Meanwhile, the manager is sipping her coffee chatting away with a server and completely ignored us when we looked in her direction. When we finally got some water, it was pretty warm and there was little fuzz particles from a dishrag in all the cups. The appetizer we ordered came out with our entrees instead of before. After we ate, we sat for more than 5 minutes before we finally waved our server down to bring the check. I left full of delicious food but highly annoyed.

This place is absolutely delicious! I will come here over and over again! The food is so delicious, the ambience is great and the music is THE BEST!

We had a great time - I had the chicken and waffles which were packed with many fun touches that led to a wonderfully layered brunch dish. Great service and we really enjoyed the dining room space and design.

Impeccable service, fabulous food and beverages. Heartily recommend. We came for an early dinner and arrived during happy hour (M-F, 2-5 pm). Everything on the HH menu is $5, including craft cocktails. And everything is made onsite from scratch. We started with the chips, guac and salsa. The dish was plentiful and scrumptious, Chips awesome, guac and salsa tasty (and just the right spice level for me with the salsa. Tangy but not overly hot.) For dinner my partner and I split the chile rellenos entree and the salmon croquette appetizer. Both were exceptional. I took the photo of the chile rellenos AFTER I split the dish, so the photo doesn't do it justice. Both were beautifully presented (as were the chips, guac and salsa appetizer). The rellenos were honestly the best I've had. The best part was the cheese on top was maybe broiled (?) as it was a little crisped, too. The salmon croquettes (3) were beautifully seasoned, and together they were a perfect share. The restaurant opened in May 2025 and construction work on old Hampden (near Swedish Hospital) started almost immediately. It's now been almost 6 months that the construction work has dragged on. BUT: the parking garage on Penn, just south of the corner on which the restaurant sits is open and we were told the restaurant will validate for 2 hours of parking.

The food was amazing! I got the Prime Rib Dip with sweet potato wedges and this was one of the best Prime Rib Dip sandwiches I have ever had! The horseradish sauce that it came with was so heavenly. My husband got one of their specials the Florentine Piccata Pasta with Chicken and that was good as well. We ordered drinks that were both a good balance of tasty and boozy. I got the Huckleberry Hibiscus Crush and my husband got the Pineapple Mule. We will definitely be going back! The food, service, and environment were great!

Friends and I met at at Penn Street Kitchen recently. The atmosphere, the food and especially the service were extraordinary. We all said that we'd meet again at the Penn Street Kitchen soon!

Today was a five-star experience for lunch. Our server was Shannon and she was very attentive. I had fish & chips and my husband had the prime dip. Both dishes were excellent. The atmosphere was very comfortable. We definitely want to go back and try other dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Will keep you all posted as we visit. And the pricing is quite reasonable. Glad to finally have a restaurant like this in Englewood.

There are two things that are deal breakers for me when it comes to pricey dining...service must be on point and the coffee should be good. I don't know if the coffee was old or what; since it was a local roaster I would've expected better but it was quite bitter and I didn't enjoy it. The waiter neglected to fill an empty ice tea glass until summoned from across the room and that's my other pet peeve. It took forEVER for him to return and the place was near-empty during the lunch hour on a Monday so that was a red flag in itself. The food was bland and unmemorable. The most boring turkey sandwich I've ever paid $17 for. Won't likely return.

Just tried this brand new spot. It is beautiful spot with a ton of natural light and a very sophisticated atmosphere, but not pretentious. The food is really amazing and fresh and the menu has a very good selection. We were warmly welcomed and the staff was very attentive. We came in the dinner, and we will definitely be back. I'm also excited to try their brunch which looks spectacular. My husband had the French dip and I had the Greek salad. Both delicious.

SOOOOOOOOO GOOD! A great hidden spot and very roomy so it can be busy but still just feel like you and your party! The food omg sooooo good! I will keep coming!

Best Pancakes! Fluffy with crisp edges. So good. And creamy scramble eggs. Sat at the bar. Great service and atmosphere.

This place really needs help. I've been hoping for their success as we live close, but we've never seen such inconsistency. Having owned a restaurant, we now that's a killer for a restaurant. Sometimes the food is good but too salty but the service is usually poor. We ALWAYS have to ask for water, coffee and drinks refills. Some friends just tried to go for breakfast (8:10 am) and said they aren't open even though hours are advertised as opening at seven and other ads say open at 8 daily. Come on guys, get your act together, please.

Great restaurant for lunch. Had the Turkey Sandwich. It was delicious. Service was first rate.

The service Was absolutely terrible. We waited over 20m before getting a drink while sitting at the bar and then had to wave the bartender down to order dinner. The food was average. It's a shame, I was really looking forward to eating here because we live in the neighborhood.

We came upon this wonderful place by accident...and it was a great experience! Our waiter Thaddeus was delightful and gave fabulous recommendations. The Benedict sauce was so tasty with a balsamic drizzle that kicked it up a notch! My husband had The Sink and couldn't finish it! But it was delicious! FIND this place! It's great!

This place is amazing...atmosphere/food/drinks/staff everything!!! I was in town from Pittsburgh for 3 weeks after my son was admitted to the hospital across the street with a traumatic brain injury. I would take breaks and come over to PSK for a bite to eat or to have one of their delicious crafted cocktails. The atmosphere and the music selection always brought my spirits up, along with the kind words from Thaddeus, Christian, Veronica and other staff members who took me under their wing. Asked about my son every day, provided words for encouragement and prayers. And fun fact, they have happy hour when they open at 7 AM. Came in pretty handy for me when I didn't know what was going to happen to my son. I will never forget them nor this place. Love you guys bless you all.

Great location, atmosphere, and most of all food! (Yes they are open during construction!) While other breakfast restaurants have a wait, there's been no wait when we've gone. (It's a little hidden gem that will certainly be too crowded once more people hear about it -- kind of hate pointing that out in my review because we've benefited from it not being too busy!)

After seeing an article in Westword about this place, then keeping an eye on online reviews, my wife and I decided it was time to try it out. We went for an early dinner on a Sat, with only a few other table occupied. Great variety menu, clean and crisp decor. I had the turkey burger and my wife had the fish and chips. Both were AWESOME! my turkey burger was so tasty and moist. I chose the sweet potato fries and my only complaint is that there were only about 6 sweet potato wedges. Fish and chips with regular fries was great, fish was nice and firm yet flaky and the batter was not mushy or overwhelming Drinks were great as well, my beer was ice cold and my wife's mixed drink was tasty. We plan on going back for sure, probably will try breakfast as well!

This place is on my very short list of restaurants to revisit. Public parking is available literally attached to the restaurant. They also validate! So bring in your parking ticket. The decor is just right. Not too pretentious & not too casual. You'll feel comfortable showing up in jeans or a fancy dress & heals. Service? On point. Donovan took great care of us. He was attentive without being overbearing. The star? The salmon crochettes!! I had some of hubbies. Lip smacking good. I ordered the Mexican egg rolls, which were also very good with the teriyaki sauce. Also ordered the deviled eggs. Oh so good. The Jam burger was also very good. I think it was better than the Cherry Cricket. That used to be the only place that I believe made a good burger. I will need to come back again to Penn Street to make sure it wasn't just hunger influencing me. All in all. Well worth the trip from Westminster. Looking forward to trying the other items on the menu. Wishing nothing but success to the Penn Street Kitchen staff.

Great spot! Had a perfect gin and rosemary cocktail, beef stroganoff, and fish and chips. Happy to have a good restaurant with nice ambiance in the area!

This is going to be a regular place for us going forward. Short rib enchiladas were great with a perfectly balanced sauce. Came with Brussels sprouts-good but too salty. Mom had the chicken pot pie. Still new so quiet enough to actually talk. Parking is a little tricky as there is still construction right out front. I dropped my leftover container on the carpet which was very very sad. They gave me an enchilada to go and that made me very very happy.

Our server was fantastic and all the food came out great! We will definitely be back to try more from their menu.

Beautiful restaurant, modern and clean. Friendly staff but most importantly the food was marvelous!! I ordered a mushroom burger- the best I've ever had and perfect French fries. My sister order a delicious Ruben sandwich. Great location across from Swedish Hospital. Can't wait to eat there again.

I was genuinely excited to bring my parents here for lunch before a scheduled tour of a nearby assisted living facility. We had a full hour for lunch -- more than enough time for a simple meal. Unfortunately, it turned into a frustrating experience. My dad ordered deviled eggs from the appetizer menu and received his food with just 10 minutes to spare. My mom and I never received our meals at all. I had to ask our server for an update with 15 minutes left and paid early to save time. She apologized and comped our sandwiches, which I appreciated, but we still had to leave hungry and very disappointed. In my opinion, the entire meal should have been comped, and a manager should have come over to acknowledge what happened. I had high hopes for this place, but the lack of timeliness, communication, and accountability made it a truly disappointing visit.

This place was top notch. Everything we had was great. The Caesar salad, bread, hummus app, fried pickles and the short rib stroganoff.

Editing to say we didn't realize this was a corporate restaurant. Definitely won't bother to be back. We try to support small business where we can and decided to visit Penn Street Kitchen based on reviews here and I don't know what exactly the deal was today but by far the worst dining experience we've had in the 10 years we've lived in Englewood. We were seated promptly, we gave a drink order, and then waited at least 10 more minutes before getting our drinks, waters, and giving our order. Food was wrong - we asked for no pico and it came with a huge plop of pico right on top. Was told potato wedges with sandwich but got sweet potatoes - maybe a nuance on the menu but should have been specified. My sandwich was grilled on the outside with melted cheese and ice cold on the inside with lunchmeat and sprouts. Definitely couldn't tell if it was supposed to be a hot or cold sandwich. We couldn't even tell our server about the food mishaps because we didn't see him again for at least 30 minutes. A runner had dropped off our food and our server became the bartender who seemingly forgot he had a table. Other waiters went back and forth without a glance at us. Someone else, manager or owner, walked around constantly without making eye contact once. It was not busy, either, and there were at least 3 other servers working. Waiters started taking off their aprons right on the floor to go take their breaks, super odd. Never asked if wanted dessert, had to go up to the bar to ask for our check. We get better service at Denny's and this was a $70 lunch before tip (which we did leave 15%, against all better judgment). People have been saying this place is struggling because of construction but our experience says it's suffering because the staff doesn't care and the food is mid. Only giving two stars because the Bloody Mary and the Breakfast old fashioned were quite good. Hopefully they get their act together.

I have been to Penn Street a couple times now. Love the breakfast baked potato. They have been very accommodating with my dietary needs and requests. Both servers have been friendly and personable, even when they were busy. Love the simple and clean decor and ambiance.

Really great and interesting food here. Most of the food is fresh, classic, but with a twist. I usually go for breakfast, but construction is annoying in front of the restaurant.
