Such a great activity to do! We did this ride in October and the view during the ride was beautiful as the leaves were changing. There is a little creek along the railroad which was awesome to look at. You can pedal your own or use the electric pedal. The staff was amazing and super friendly. It had rain right before our scheduled ride and they wiped down all the seats and provided rain ponchos for us. I had never done the rail bike ride before but I am so glad I did! I have been telling all my friends about it. Definitely something to put on your bucket list. Highly highly recommend!

My husband and I did this tour yesterday at noon and we had a great time! It was about ten miles roundtrip. You have the option to pedal or use the electric pedal. The three employees on our trip were very helpful and informative. We made stops along the way to learn about the bald eagles and the hydroelectric power plant. Definitely add this to your itinerary if you're in the area!

This was easy to reserve, easy to check in, and the staff were very kind and helpful. The views were beautiful and we even got to see a golden eagle! While we did pedal half the journey, we were glad for the break the electric provided, though it may prove a bit tiresome for the person who has to keep the pedal pressed down. The backs of the seats were slightly uncomfortable, especially if you're more on the skinny side and have bones sticking out a bit. The points of contact on my spine and shoulder blades were super sore the day after and made it uncomfortable to lean my back against anything. Overall though, my group had a lot of fun!

First time doing the rail bikes and it was fun! My only "complaint" is that we had to stop to turn the seats around just to go back the other way. But, that won't stop me from doing this again! Next time I definitely want to try the 4 hour trail instead of the 2 hour. Scenery was beautiful, loved the option of the electric motor if you get tired of pedaling. Will be returning to do the longer trip!😊

We had so much fun. It was worth the 2 hour ride from NJ. The weather couldn't have been better. We peddled some and then would kick the electric option on. What a fun and pretty ride. Great way to see the fall foliage. I would suggest you opt for the 2 hour tour. There is 4 hour option, but for us, 2 hours was perfect. My other suggestion is to pick an early time frame. We had the sun out from 12noon until 2pm, and if had not been the heat of the day I would imagine it would be cold. Bring a blanket. Great day.!

Went in late September and loved it. The leaves were just turning along the trail. 5 miles out, 5 miles back. Some things to know and tips: 1. BRING A CUSHION FOR YOUR lower BACK! The seats are hard plastic and your lower back can get very sore. 2. Show up at least 15 minutes before and check in at the blue tent. Portable toilets are on sight in the parking lot. Bottled water was for sale $1. 3.Matt and his crew were very informative. The bikes hold 2 or 4 people and you will be assigned to a bike. 4. The bikes are human powered as well as an electric motor backup. You sit side by side and the RIGHT SIDE SEAT controls the electric motor gas pedal so, choose who you want to have that responsibility ahead of time. 5. There are 3-4 cup holders in between the two seats and a wire 12”x12” basket for storage. 6. There are “guide bikes” at the front and back of the train. Bike workers operate and ride on these throughout the trip. The trip is 5 miles out and 5 back for a total 10 mile trip. You will see the same things and be riding on the exact same trail when returning. 7. The bikes will ALL be attached at first until we all cross over 3 streets. At that point the guides will “ detach” the cars from each other and, you will be free to begin pedaling or using the electric motor pedal, keeping a safe distance from the bike in front of you. 8. You can ride at your own pace and there is no required distance you must stay behind or ahead of the other bikes but, a steady pace is necessary. 9. The guides will instruct you to all wave your arm in the air should the need to slow down arise. This warns everyone behind you to slow down. A raised arm with a solid fist by the guides means there is a need to STOP. A cable running down the center of the bike and within arms reach while sitting is used as a breaking mechanism. You’ll want to familiarize yourself with just how hard you’ll need to pull up to stop the bike ahead of time. 10. The seating will be adjusted and locked down by the guides before the bikes move once. Everyone must be comfortable and the pedals must spin freely to avoid having your feet or legs injured. 11. We did see 2 Eagles on the ride as well as old remains of years gone by along the tracks. 12. The entire process is reversed once you reach the 5 mile stop with the guides switching the seat around as well as the need to adjust the seat distance just like at the beginning. 13. The ride back will probably require the electric motor pedal use as most legs may be tired. Again, the electric motor pedal is on THE RIGHT SIDE and will be operated by the person occupying the RIGHT SIDE SEAT. 15. The entire trip is 2 hours so plan accordingly. 16. Remember that you will be exercising while pedaling and to dress accordingly. ENJOY!

Monday - 12 pm tour. Had an awesome family experience. The Rail Bike guides were very polite and professional. The rail car bikes with the electric assist made the tour very enjoyable. The guides were knowledgeable about where we could see several bald eagles. Would do it again and recommend it for anyone!

Fun for all ages and abilities! Very scenic in the fall. There are lights on the 'bike' if you're out after the sun sets like it did when I went in mid-October.
