The 10 Best Hostels in Prague (Updated 2025)

"If you want to party and socialize, this is one of the best options: DownTown runs free city and castle tours, talent shows, pub crawls, cooking classes, beer pong, communal dinners a few times a week, and a daily buffet breakfast (about 150 CZK). The bunks are basic metal frames but with thick enough mattresses for decent sleep (no privacy curtains), rooms are spacious and some have single beds, and I’d ask for a spot on the fifth or sixth floor for a great view of Prague." - Matthew Kepnes

It was a pleasant stat in this hostel. The location is amazing. The Event organiser Gabriele was very friendly and he organise events differently every day. I enjoyed my stay and parties we had☺️ There is a big kitchen and recreation place. Super markets and restaurants are very close by. All the hostel staff were very friendly.

Had a great time at this hostel! Gabriele was was especially brilliant in organising a bunch of events such as a night out at the Jazz bar and a cruise party! He was super friendly and ensured a smooth night without any hassles. Tereza the receptionist was also super nice and she gave me some great tips for sightseeing adventures and food around the city. She would always be available to provide guidance! Highly recommend :)

I had a fantastic time at this Hostel. It's in a great location and they have super friendly staff who actually like to interact with their guests. Martina at the front desk was very helpful in recommending things like restaurants to eat at and overall just a very kind person! Also the event planner Gabriele is a ton of fun to hang out with even though he beat me at chess, checkers and a few other games... Location and overall felt very safe at this Hostel and I would stay there again based on my experience!

Top of the top Hostels I had stayed in last years! The most different thing is Gabriele the person organising events, and he can approach people and make our evenings best experiences in Prague. He was amazing! Also Tereza from the reception was so kind and helpful person. I really appreciate my holidays in this Hostel 🌟

The hostel is perfectly located in the city center. Big Tesco supermarket is nearby, so you can shop for cheap food and cook it in the hostel kitchen when you are on a budget holiday. The staff is friendly and helpful. My room was clean and the rest of the hostel too. The windows and door would deserve some maintenance, but I felt good there.

Yelp
Such a nice hostel! There is no AC, but they give you plenty of fans, which really helps. The front desk ladies were so sweet and friendly. They gave me a towel for free! They had recommendations and really wanted us to be at home.

Yelp
These days I'm more of a hotel guy, so a positive rating of a hostel from me may still need a 1-star inflation from the reader. Hostel Downtown is well run. Probably the most unique part of the place is a full calendar of weekly activities costing between free and just 2-3 euro. Free walking tours, beer tours, pub crawls, free communal dinners, etc. - they really have thought of a lot, and the staff who guide it are really quite good. The accommodation is basic, as you'd expect and as is the point of hostel life (other than the community element, of course. It's a big place and feels more like a hotel (6 floors, quite broad as well). That said, each morning we awoke to hallway noise because the walls aren't so thick. Invariably when we checked, it was the cleaning staff chatting away on cell phones right in the main hallway - not other guests. This was the most annoying part of our stay and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Communal areas are well apportioned and probably the best effort at forcing people to chat with each other during their stay. Food storage is easy to manage and there's plenty of it. Left luggage is easy as well, and right in front of reception for easy monitoring. Coffee is cheap, and breakfast it's included for just 4 euros for everything, all you can eat. It's very central, and as a result not the cheapest hostel you'll find - a twin room for 2, en suite, ran us 75 euro per night. But again, if you're hotel people looking for a good hostel experience, this would certainly be it.

Yelp
Pretty standard hostel, not dirty but not as clean as other Prague hostels I've stayed in. My group was pretty split social-wise, so some people would participate in the hostel's social events (lots of pregames/bar crawls). The social scene here made me realize I've probably outgrown the hostel life, so hostel frequenters may want to add a star to my experience. It was a great location (right by old town and close to a lot of fun bars). Walking tour was supposed to be of old town, but the guide brought us up the hill across the river and then left us at the top. He knew a lot about Czech Republic but it wasn't the historic tour we were expecting.

Yelp
Absolutely loved my stay here! Was in the 8 bed female dorm and all the girls were tidy & respectful! Bed was comfortable and clean, with large lockers for your things! Nice cheap breakfast and really enjoyed the events hosted by the hostel. Perfect place for a solo traveler who wants to meet people to tour the city with.

Yelp
It is not that a long time I searched for the inexpensive accommodation in the centre of Prague. Because I am a member of IYHF, I started to search on the asociation web pages and I found this hostel, very well reviewed. Well, because we had a party with more then 20 participants I ordered dorms for all the men. The price was quite low, rooms very comfortable, spacious and clean, we stayed in the room with own bathroom, so we didn't share it with the others. Only few of us ordered the breakfast after the long night, but that was also more than ok comparing the price. The staff is very very helpful and friendly, I asked them several times for something, mostly stupid questions, and they always helped me with the smile. Only the late check out we haven't had a chance to get, because the hostel was quite full. What is also very important is the location. And this hostel is REALY centraly located, no trouble to go by walk everywhere. Charles bridge = 10 minutes, Old Town square = 10 minutes, St. Vitus square = 5 minutes etc. And our pub = 5 minutes to go there and 1,5 hour to go back :-D.

Yelp
This is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in, the view outside of my room of the castle was absolutely stunning and the people who work there are absolutely amazing. Brent runs a fun night of cooking and sharing a meal together and then takes you out on a bar crawl to a bunch of bars nearby, he's super fun and a total sweetheart. Marky and the girls working the desk went above and beyond when I was trying to get a new phone shipped to me in Prague (it got stolen in Amsterdam, ugh) they spoke to customs for me multiple times and kept an eye out for the package. Just totally above and beyond what they had to do and were so freaking nice about it the whole time, never once did they act annoyed or inconvenienced. This is by far one of the friendliest hostels I have ever stayed in, you definitely don't want to leave when it comes time to pack your bags. Stay here, you won't regret it.

Yelp
Stayed here because of the reviews. Everything was great & bed was comfortable- but then I woke up with 22 bites all over my body that itch like CRAZY! Working in the medical field I realized that these were definitely Bed bug bites. Not a great way to start out my trip with massive red blotches that wake me up out of a sound sleep because of itching......Avoid room 309 & this place in general, bed bugs are HIGHLY effective in spreading out & if they come home with you can cost almost $3000 to get rid of because traditional insect repellants do not work.

Yelp
Awesome hidden treasure in the heart of Prague! We never would have found this place if not for a friend's recommendation, but I'm glad we did! Super helpful and friendly staff who go out of their way to make sure you're having fun, clean rooms, huge kitchen, and a chill atmosphere. Nice location towards downtown, maybe a ten minute walk from the main square. Good location, good people, great hostel. We loved it so much we're heading back in march!!!

Yelp
BED BUGS--be careful and check before sleeping. Very hot in the room. The hostel was very nice otherwise and it was in a great location. The staff were helpful and always on duty. The facilities were decently clean.

Yelp
You can't complain about this place. Talking about customer service the courteousness of the staff the warmed welcome even outside the facility they even say hi to you. For me its two thumbs up, I will definitely recommend them and I will defonitely come back here . FIVE STARS for you guys!!!

Yelp
Great location in Old Town! Right off a tram stop, and walking distance to the river and all of the touristy downtown stuff. They serve breakfast here and it's 80 crowns but has all you can eat eggs and sausage, as well as fruit, cereal, bread, drinks, etc. Decent to do once, but you'll tire of it. Was here with two others in a private 3 bed on the 6th floor. Great views, decent prices and the rooms were clean. The whole hostel was well run, and the staff was very friendly. Highly recommended if you're into the hosteling style. Happy travels! (Tip: during the summer, head south on the river past the dancing houses and hang out on the lower riverwalk. Beers and live music!)
