Fabulous place. Remodeled officer mess from Navy. On the water, wonderful views. Great edgy contemporary art inside staff are great. Definitely eat at the restaurant. Beer and food great. Rented bike for the day from hotel which was very convenient.

It is located in a good neiborhood, my room was on the third floor with a good view of the river. It was clean, the bed and the pillow was very comfortable, it has a safety box, flat TV. It does not have AC, so the window is always open to let in air. Fortunately it wasn’t hot at all.|At night it would be quiet but the 2 nights I heard a lot of people talking and laughing, Maybee it was a convention.|The lift is very slow.|The bathroom was clean, it has only shampoo and soap. It has a hair dryer|The recepcionists and the barman were friendly and helpful

Mila (member of the Service Staff) is the absolute highlight of this place. She is friendly, yet witty and always smiling. We are her biggest fans. But let's start with the basics. The hotel is awesome. It's bohemian, unique, homely and familiar. It's the old officers quarter on the old Naval base right in the center of Amsterdam. Yes the rooms are dated but charming, the bathrooms modern. The food is an awesome mix of dutch and international food. And don't even get me started on the beers, this place has its own in-house brewery with loads of tasty beers to check out. Not to forget the close proximity to the Maritime Museum with it's massive tall ship. Next door is a park and and everyone is welcome to take a (free) swim in the marina. We travel a lot but this place is a 12 out of 10 for independent, open travellers who look for a truly unique place in the heart of Amsterdam.. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay with you.

We are a group of professional artists from Spain who stayed at Pension Homeland for one night on 19/09, flying back home the next day. From the moment we arrived, the experience with Bruno at reception was absolutely dreadful. During check-in around 2 p.m., Bruno rushed through the process in an extremely rude and dismissive manner. He repeatedly shushed us and even made a mocking “talking hand” gesture, telling us to stop talking whenever we tried to ask a question—simply because, in his words and attitude, “Spaniards talk too much.” When we asked about our booking, he insisted (while interrupting us) that it was for two nights. Believing this, we assumed we could keep the rooms until we left for our late flight the next day. On 20/09, we returned at 2 p.m. to find all our belongings removed from the rooms, packed into bags, and left downstairs. That would have been manageable if handled with basic courtesy—but when we confronted Bruno about it, he immediately started yelling, raising his voice over ours and refusing to let us speak. To make matters worse, an AirPod went missing. The cleaning staff confirmed they found the case with two AirPods and gave it to Bruno, but when we received our things, one was missing. The main issue isn’t just the lost item (though that is concerning), but Bruno’s hostile, unprofessional, and aggressive behavior. He shouted at us instead of calmly resolving the situation and showed zero respect for paying guests. This treatment is inadmissible. We are filing a formal complaint, but we also want to warn future guests: avoid dealing with Bruno if you value basic respect and professional service. Pension Homeland should seriously reconsider having someone like this as the face of their hotel.

This place is unique and close to the heart of Amsterdam. and next door to the maritime museum which is worth the visit Just about a 15 min walk to the centre. The lift is slow but the room was big and a little old but clean. No aircon just a long heater attached to the wall. Staff were very helpful and friendly

Simple but comfortable accommodation in an interesting setting. Great food options and generally the staff are wonderful. But what is the point of the intolerant older guy who appears occasionally behind the check-in desk, exuding grumpiness and Basil Fawlty-like bad manners?

Rooms were clean and comfortable. Very conveniently located a short walk from Amsterdam Centraal. Staff were friendly and helpful and the restaurant was fantastic for both breakfast and dinner as was the beers in the bar.

If you are looking for an authentic Dutch stay close to the city center, this is it! I came to Homeland for dinner a few years ago and have been wanting to check out their hotel ever since. The location is perfect—you can walk to Central Station, but it's tucked away in its own quiet paradise. The rooms are huge by Amsterdam standards, and the restaurant is so good. I think we had breakfast and dinner three times each, plus a borrel, during our 5-night stay. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience at Pension Homeland/Brouwerij Homeland. We stopped in for dinner on a Saturday evening. The food was delicious, the beers were excellent, and the service was wonderful. The young man who took care of us was probably one of the best dining experiences we've ever had - you could tell he was not only thoughtful and attentive, but he knew the beers extremely well and even was nice enough to give us a peek at the brewery. We tried all of the beers they had on tap. Our favorites were the Tripel, the New England IPA, and the Russian Imperial Stout, but everything we tried was delicious. Even the Session IPA, which I normally don't go for, was impressive. The food was tasty - we started with the Charcuterie Board, and for dinner opted for the Catch of the Day (Cod) and the Steak. The charcuterie board was very unique, with house pickled vegetables, a nice whole grain mustard, and four different types of meat. This included rabbit (so tender, our absolute favorite), deer (native to The Netherlands, it wasn't quite to our taste, but still cool to try), and two others, I believe a pork sausage which was really good, and one more meat that I don't recall. For our mains, the steak was so impressive. Perfectly cooked (we requested medium rare) and juicy...it was probably one of the best steaks I've tried. The fries were nice, as was the salad that accompanied it. The cod was the star of my dish - cooked perfectly, buttery and falling apart at the touch of a fork. The potato triangle that came with it was nice as well. The spinach salad was nice, but as I'm not really a fan of fennel, I tried to avoid that. The foam/sauce served with the cod was alright but wasn't really necessary given how nice the cod was on its own. My dining partner enjoyed the little fried prawns more than I did. I would highly recommend checking out Pension Homeland for dinner, beers, or both. I'm a little bummed we hadn't opted to stay at the hotel there, as the building was nice and had a beautiful harbor view, including the Martime Museum ship. The feel of the building was a little outdated, but in a pleasant and cozy way. I definitely would have been drinking their delicious beers at the bar or playing pool at the end of each evening! Thank you to the thoughtful young man who took care of us that evening and provided a great dining experience. Do yourself a favor and include this as a stop on your visit to Amsterdam.

Yelp
Recently discovered restaurant/bar, next to the scheepvaart museum. We arrived late (22pm), but still were able to get desert and some drinks. What I liked: - good food - relaxed location (in the former marine-area) - view of the harbour (NEMO, VOC ship, etc) - even on saturday eve, could still get dinner without reservation The interior is very dated (70s), but somehow it fits the place.

Yelp
We arrived and stayed at the hotel. Not a fancy place but very clean, quiet, and staff and food exceptional. The restaurant/bar clearly used by locals, which that alone should tell you how great it is. Since it is mid week many business people here as well. We enjoyed the stay.

Yelp
Tasty bitterballs and good beer in a quasi-1970s lounge, perky and nice but definitely with a mild retro taste in the decor. There are a couple of turntables here, and some records, so don't be surprised if you pop in and there's a DJ. Excellent spot to stop out of the wind for a warm lunch after the Scheepvaahrt Museum, or just because you want to. It's a wee bit out of the way from the mad Dam throngs, so quieter and more chill. Food was lovely, service superb, and they have pool tables. Fun!

Yelp
For me the main problem with this hotel was the amount of noise that kept me from sleeping. In the day time after I checked in, it was someone from the hotel drilling holes in wood right outside the building. Early in the morning, I was woken by someone cleaning my windows. There must be a school close by, so depending on where your room is, you may be woken up by that too. Once the window cleaner came and I heard the kids screaming outside, I knew my rest was over. Not easy for someone that's just come from overseas and is experiencing the first few days of jet lag. As I write this, the school has started playing very loud music. There must be some kind of outdoor presentation going on. I don't get it., but I'm in my bed feeling pretty miserable right now.... The hotel is relatively clean. This is basically an old school hotel that has been slightly renovated to maintain a retro/hipster image. The elevator has got to be the worlds slowest elevator. Hopefully someone will add more pics to the ones provided
