Pension Hoshi-no-suna

I've found paradise. All rooms have a view of the bay. Wonderful hosts, authentic food, and the aquarium right in front of the guesthouse. A wonderful place.

The Japanese style room is beautiful. Has tatamis on the floor, a magnificent sea view and a private bathroom with toilet, shower and bath tub. The staff is kind and helpful, they give lots of informations. The location is perfect, with direct access to the beautiful beach which is called Starfish sand beach because sand looks like many tiny starfishes, see pics! The restaurant serves delicious meals. I had breakfast that was very generous and dinner. For dinner I had the sashimi plate which was amazing.

Great accommodation with traditional Japanese rooms. Stunning view from the terrace. A absolutely beautiful beach and perfect snorkeling sport directly in front of the pension. And most important: we had the absolute best food there! So delicious and fresh. Can’t recommend it enough. You can also rent equipment from the shop. The owner was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely book again! Thank you.

Fantastic location with great views over the ocean and Hoshisuna Beach Bay. Family apartment has a huge balcony. Very helpful and friendly staff. The food served for dinner at the hotels restaurant was excellent, very tasty and arranged with special care. Breakfast as well was tasty and plenty. Bus stop just minutes away. Other beaches and diffrent restaurants in walking distance (20-35 minutes).

Hoshinosuna is a beach with the sand corn shaped like star. This strange phenomenon is visible in some of the Yaeyama beaches, but Hoshi-no-suna has even the name on it (it means "sand of stars" i Japanese).|The pension is just on the beach, which is also quite nice for snorkelling if you get it in the high tide (the difference in spring is nearly 2 meters, look a the tide tables on the web!). So, fantastic view, fantastic sunsets, fantastic souvenir shop placed in the restaurant building. Wifi only there, unfortunately. No service of cleaning if you are there for 3 nights (but you can get new towels). Very nice people there! Think that my friend forgot the cell phone charger in the room and she got it back the same day in another hotel in another island (we were already back in Ishigaki). So, quite amazing!

Super friendly staff who picked me up(and dropped me off) at the harbor and helped me arrange all the tours that I wanted to book! One of the staff members could even speak English! One of the best(vegetarian friendly) breakfasts (with amazing view on the beach/sea) I had so far in Japan which is nice considering the physical activities I had planned! My room was very clean and spacious and had a great view. The stunning Hoshinosuna beach was just a minute walking away from my room and you could rent snorkels and flippers at the desk! Highly recommended!

I wasn’t staying at the hotel, but I got lunch there, and it was so delicious. The view was amazing, and the staff were so extremely helpful and welcoming! There is a very nice beach next to the hotel with star stand!

Overlooking Hoshisuna beach, this pension has the perfect place. It's a friendly homestay with a small restaurant, shop and snorkelling equipment rental. The beach is just some steps away. We stayed for 4 nights in a western style room on the first floor, with balcony and a very nice bay view. The room was spacious for Japanese standards, light and clean. Only downside is, that there are only single beds (for others maybe it's just right), but that is the standard style everywhere in this area. If you don't have a car to go to other places, half-board is recommended. Food comes in a variety of dishes, mainly seafood. It's authentic, tasty and healthy. Lots of raw fish in big chunks. Breakfast is pretty limited, mainly Japanese. But we enjoyed this somehow cute breakfast buffet nonetheless.||||A good choice for staying some nights, suspending the outside and just focussing on the beauty of the bay of Hoshisuna and it's natural spectacle of the tide.
