The pension is a good base in La Palma for exploring the town and a short walk to bus links for the rest of the Island. The hotel is in Calle O'Daly in the centre and although this is very quiet of an evening it is only a short walk to shops and restaurants. ||The room was part of the old house but had everything needed with a shower in the room and a separate toilet. I arrived late and the entry instructions were clear and it was easy to get in. The pension is an old house and from the street door I went up the stairs then through corridors and my room was at the back. It was a big old room with old double wooden entrance doors and windows at the end and the side both with shutters and an old dark wooden floor with wide floorboards. There was a low double bed a table and open area to hang clothes. There is a lounge and a small balcony at the front of the pension to sit in. ||The pension does not do breakfast (at the time of writing) but there is a café opposite to get breakfast and any rolls or sandwiches for the day. There are supermarkets nearby too. ||My boat was leaving later on the last day and they looked after my bag to pick up later.||I had a nice stay and would be happy to stay there again. |

It´s a traditional cosy house in the middle of town with nice common areas (livingroom & balcony) and a kitchen for tea/coffee with a fridge. I stayed several times at this accommodation, the people that run it are very friendly. The rooms are basic but have character, they´ve got rooms with private bathroom as well. The prices are low and therefore one cannot expect a lot of luxury, but everything´s clean. The location is superb.

I felt in love with this place! The house is beautifull, with a very classic huge living room and all small hallways with low ceilings and wooden floors and stairs. It feels a bit like going bach in time, but in a positive sense. I stayed in a lovely room in the back, with wooden floors and wooden doors facing the patio. There are many plants and even a tree in the patio, which feels like you´re a bit surrounded by nature. This place is a bit hard to describe in words, but it has something! ||||The owner and the cleaning lady were very nice people, very helpful and nice. The rooms were very clean and the shared bathrooms and kitchen too. You can´t cook in the kitchen but there´s a fridge and you can make breakfast, a sandwich or a salad. It´s very centrally located, in the middle of the town, and so I´m not sure what this means for the rooms in the front in the weekends, but my room was very quiet and you feel like you escape town completely by just sitting on the patio. ||||The prices are good too, I can recommend this place highly.

Very characterful place on the main pedestrian street in Santa Cruz - and right across from a good bakery for breakfast. The rooms were comfortable, although a bit chilly in January. There is one shared bathroom for several rooms - it worked ok for us, but it would have been so much better if there was a separate toilet. Overall great value though.

This is an ideally located, small pension, very affordable and with lovely rooms that are full of character. There are two spacious shared bathrooms, both immaculately clean. My room had two beds, bedside tables, lamps, wash basin, and everything else that you would expect. The management is very friendly and helpful, and really want you to be happy and satisfied. The manager, anticipating that I might have a problem in one room, decided to move me into another room. I was really grateful. It had not even occurred to me yet that the first room might be problematic for me, but he was right. Oh, and did I say that it's right in the heart of Old Santa Cruz? Everything is right there, just a few steps away. And it is superb value. Highly recommended. (Please 'like'this review if you find it useful.)

Character filled Pension. If you want to stay in a traditional centuries old Santa Cruz house this is for you. Wooden staircases, balconies and nooks to sit and relax in. Great central location. Short walk from either bus or ferry terminals. Spa supermarket close by (close at 8 pm) as well as cafes and bars. But it isn't luxury, what do you expect at the reasonable price, with shared bathrooms (clean and relatively plentiful). Rooms can also be hit or miss, some come with balcony views, some are inside with no windows, but you can always head to the lounge room to read or chat.

Pension La Cubana was very good – exactly as advertised and in the best location in town.||Yes, its very basic accommodation inside, and some (mine) have a shared bathroom but that is exactly as advertised. The shared bathroom was no issue either.||||The building itself is very charming, as is the owner. My flight was delayed so I arrived a little late but this was no issue and I spoke to her via the phone outside the Pension door. The place is clean and efficient and has a communal room and a fridge.||||The location is excellent – just near the start of the main street in Santa Cruz. There is a café directly opposite and two late night bars if you turn right and first left – they were very cheap and friendly. I did not hear any undue noise from them in the Pension. ||||I know information on Santa Cruz is a little light so I offer the following tips to help:||||* The airport is just 10 minutes away ||* There is a free car park in town on the right just after the main roundabout in town – turn just before the McDonalds. It does get packed during the day, but with a little perseverance you’ll find space. The last Sunday each month is a market in there – so park elsewhere then!||* Other parking is marked blue for pay meters – or green for locals only||* There are some lovely restaurants in Santa Cruz; for the best steak try: Pizzeria Piccolo – lovely building too; La Placeta does a nice duck – again lovely building – and in the same square, there is a small bar called Cubana, open till 11pm||* Be a little careful if driving up to the volcano rim / observatory via LP4 – the top can be snow and ice covered; there are a few specialist mountain weather sites – check the weather first as it can dump a fair bit of snow in one go||* Be a little cautious when driving down any narrow roads and always ensure you on your side of the road and slow down around any bends. Common sense you’d think – but loads do not adhere to it …

You get what you pay for but the location couldn't be better. The hostel is located in the middle of the old center of Santa Cruz de la Palma. Just a few meters away from the ferry and the next busstation (to the airport for example). The house itself is 300 years old, very quaint and cute little rooms with a lot of history. The staff is very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Internet could be faster, but hey, you are on vacation so chill ;)
