I stayed overnight to catch a flight from Santiago airport. I experienced very little of the noise other posters complain about. Yes, the room walls could be better insulated but that is true for almost all hotels. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the room very cosy. The bathroom was perfect with a big shower compared to most hotels and with sufficient pressure and plenty of hot water. The Pension is located opposite the market with access to great reataurants and coffee shops and an easy stroll to the Cathedral. Perfect location!

Extremely loud. Hot. Uncomfortable. The hotel room was extremely loud and noisy with the busy street outside of the window. It was like trying to sleep in the middle of the street. So then you close the window to reduce 30% of the noise, and it is extremely hot. There is no AC or even a small fan. To add to this the beds were uncomfortable, the sheets were low quality and trapped sweat and the pillows were old and hardened. The walls are paper thin so you can hear your neighbours so much as huff a breath too loud. Every movement. Every noise. The bathroom was also so poorly designed the floors would easily flood without proper drainage outside of the showers, and was constantly damp. As a result we slept so badly, used to sleeping 7-8 hours and only managed to sleep 5 & 2 hours respectively. It was the worst sleep I've had in a hotel for as long as I can remember. The check in experience wasn't great as you have to check in at a different hotel 3 blocks away - so this one is unstaffed. There is no service except for cleaning. At night there are drunk groups of people every night shouting for hours outside of your window, and inside the hotel across multiple floors. There are no staff to manage drunk guests. We stayed on Wednesday and Thursday so can't begin to imagine what it would be like on weekends. We also specifically ordered a double bed but they said this was sold out when we checked in, and were given a twin. If they didn't have any double beds left they should not falsely advertise for them. The only star is for location as it is conveniently located just outside of the old town.

I was met with a warm and accommodating feel from the moment I stepped inside O Xardin de Julia. The garden was a breath of fresh air after 24 hours of flights and I was filled with even greater delight when I realised my room looked down upon it and the beautiful tree outside my window. The rooms are clean and modern. The towels are large and soft. The wooden interior contrasts beautifully with the elements of stone in the room. The hotel aesthetic merges harmoniously with the garden outside and the Spanish wilderness beyond. I would highly recommend this hotel. The breakfast is also great!!

The room was good, with a pleasant view. The bathroom was especially nice. However, the bathroom suffered from poor/no ventilation so a damp smell persisted. The front desk at the nearby associated hotel was particularly helpful.

Amazing hotel to stay in the city centre of Santiago. The bedroom was beautiful, simple and with all the amenities we needed. The bed was comfortable, soft sheets and high quality towels. Adrian was incredibly nice and helpful as we arrived at the very last minute one night, and also needed to stay the next day working in a quiet place, he offered the beautiful and quiet garden at the Xardin de Julia. I will definitely come back next time I'm in Santiago de Compostela. Clearly a really good price for the unique and special experience you get.

My wife and I spent one night here on our holiday and we loved it. Both of us wished we could have stayed longer! The room was really good, a comfortable bed and we loved the old stone walls and wooden floor and ceiling, it had real character. The staff were very helpful too, firstly in terms of helping us sort out an error in our booking beforehand and then with the personal touches to the service when we arrived. Our only regret was that the garden terrace restaurant wasn’t open during our stay. We would have loved to have stayed longer and next time we go to Santiago, O Xardin de Julia will be top of our list for places to stay!

Stayed here 2 nights- great hotel, near everything, market, university, cathedral and great bar nearby called Momos. Breakfast was in a cafe nearby and was great. Rooms fabulous and bathroom supplies lovely. Only complaint was the noise- I could hear everything in the room near me, insulation would be good. There is a beautiful garden out the back, great for chillaxing with a book or a drink.

The hostal does open its doors for arrivals until 3 PM - it was arranged through an agency and we had not seen this. If you arrive from the camino that means lunch without a shower and in walking gear. Big disappointment and rather annoying.||What was worse though is that the hostal is super noisy. It is situated on the biggest traffic artery near the city center and we were in the front rooms and the cars seem to drive through your room. Also any noise the neighbours make is yours to enjoy. Ours left super quietly at 4.30 AM and we heard their every move including the closing of the door. We have been awake much of the night.||The design is nice and the girl friendly. But the loss of sleep and comfort does not weigh up to that.
