We stayed in and quad room with private bathroom, for 2 of us. It was lots of room to move about and store our gear. The shower was a good size, however it only seemed to have hot water (I would have guessed the opposite) and it was really hot. The staff were great, super friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was nice, and the eternal coffee pot was pretty sweet too! Really great location with everything you'd need around. It was a good place to hang for the 2 days we were in town.

It's a cute little hostel-style place with some larger rooms with multiple beds, which we got to fit my large family. The room was clean and adequate. Everything worked as it should be. The hot shower was nice, with sufficient pressure. There is nothing else in the room, such as a microwave or fridge, but like any hostel, these are in the shared kitchen. The staff was nice and accommodating, and the ambiance was hip. We saw many other families with children staying there. A basic typical breakfast, as well as coffee and tea, are included. The only drawback is that it is located right downtown and very noisy.

Our family of 4 stayed here in March 2025. It was comfortable, staff were kind, the common areas were clean and spacious, and the location is great - convenient to everything. We did have some minor issues in our room, including a window pane that would not shut (could be a challenge in hotter/colder weather given no heat/AC in the rooms) and ants that showed up on our last day. The great location also means that you will hear any noisy tourists out on the streets late at night, but it didn't bother us too much. PS - If you're looking for laundry service in town, Sparkle Laundry picked up our large load and returned it the same day for a good price.

This is the nicest hostel I have ever stayed in! I paid a little extra for a private room, which was clean and comfortable. The courtyard area is beautiful, and the lobby and kitchen are well maintained. The biggest perk was that breakfast is included in the cost of the room, which is very rare for hostels. The hostel is located in Santa Elena, which is the best area to be. It is walkable to the main street in town with all of the main restaurants, and if you're lucky you'll catch some dancing or artwork in the street nearby.

We felt really good in Pension Santa Elena (so much that we decided to add 2 nights to our stay). We enjoyed the garden, the atmosphere of the place. The staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast included was great. We liked the common kitchen which was very useful (though there wasn’t hot water to clean properly your dishes), and where you also meet other travellers. The rooms were clean, only negative point is that the curtains let the light pass. Overall we definitely recommend it and the price is very good for the quality of the stay.

Great bed, pillow and shower! Includes breakfast (no tacos though kkk) and Good amenities too :) But there’s a lot of motorcycle sound up the steep road. A little hard to sleep without earplugs… we had the private garden room. Close to the city center and great restaurants.

Loved our stay at Pension Santa Elena. Easy access to everything the Monteverde area has to offer. Rooms were incredibly clean and comfortable. Standout was the staff - they were so friendly and helpful, offering advice on things to do and places to explore. Great price and would absolutely stay here again.

We got an excellent deal considering it included breakfast. Yes it was a limited menu, but the portions were great. Rooms basic but what you'd expect for the price. Communal kitchen had all you'd need.
