Recent stay in October 2025 was excellent! The hotel has a beautiful charm and excellent location. Staff was VERY friendly and communicative. Breakfast each morning was really solid. Nice way to grab a coffee and a bite before being out and about. Another really clutch detail is if arriving to Venice via the airport, you can take a water taxi to the Rialto market stop and the hotel is about 100 yards / meters from the drop off. No long march on the cobblestones with any luggage. Great restaurants and gelato nearby as well. Easy to get to the more historic sights / landmarks if that is your jam. Otherwise it is a great HQ to just get lost in the magic of Venice. Overall I recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Venice.

We loved our stay at the Pensione Guerrato! The staff were all so welcoming, thoughtful, and helpful. We were two kids and two adults and it was such a treat to stay somewhere with a king bed and two real twin beds (not just an uncomfortable pull out couch). And the room was huge. The room was spotless and well taken care of. The breakfast was also such an unexpected treat. Delicious buffet and espresso. The location is perfect close to a vaporetto station and on a quiet little street. We loved that we could leave our bags at checkout and were greeted by smiling staff when we returned to get our bags and the offer to use their washroom before we left. So thoughtful!

The location of this lovely hotel is absolutely perfect, steps away from The Rialto Bridge and the Grand Canal and no more than a 20 minute walk to everywhere in Venice you would wish to explore!|We stayed in room 8 on the 2nd floor, despite having booked a room on the 3rd or 4th floor. However, it was such a lovely and big room and after all the walking around Venice, we were satisfied to not have to walk up lots of steps to our room! The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was very clean, with shampoo, soap and hairdryer. There was no TV or tea/coffee making facilities, but bottles of fresh water provided daily. The only downside was that the room was incredibly hot, without the ability to adjust the temperature.|Breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon, beans, bread/toast, boiled eggs (cold) croissants, ham, cheese, salami, cereal, yoghurt, fruit, cake, biscuits, crackers, Nutella, Philadelphia. Coffee was made fresh to order, as well as being a big pot, and also juices and teas.|My only fault would be that the tables were pushed together, so that at busy times you had to share your space with other guests, which was quite uncomfortable. You are given a specific time for breakfast, there are 3 sittings.|All of the staff are so welcoming and lovely. Thank you so much for your hospitality

The best place in Venice, without a doubt. I loved my stay. Everyone was very friendly and always very helpful. I had problems with the airline, and they received my luggage even though I wasn't there. It was wonderful. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The 24-hour reception is very good and gives us Great places to go. Its very well located.

We just finished visiting beautiful Venice, Italy and stayed at this historical and beautiful hotel. We are from the US and we weren’t looking for something modern. You cannot beat the location of this hotel if you want something close to the shopping areas, restaurants, bars, and steps away from a water taxi stop—very convenient location next to the famous Rialto Bridge. This is a very safe and quaint hotel with a delicious breakfast. There was fresh juices, American and Italian coffee choices, pastries, cold meats and cheeses, toast, waffles, scrambled eggs and bacon, as well as fresh fruit and yogurt—Nutella, strawberry jam, honey. The hotel doors lock at 8 pm each evening and you can be buzzed in after that via a camera system. Our room was spacious and we had twin beds pushed together as is typical in Italy. The beds and bedding were very clean and comfortable—softer than other mattresses we have slept on in Italy. The shower is very small, but clean and had sufficient hot water and water pressure. Hand soap, body wash/shampoo combination provided. There are hand and body towels but no wash cloths and two bottles of drinking water were provided. Highly recommend this hotel.

Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay during our honeymoon. The location is ideal, 30 seconds from the Rialto, but quiet and surrounded by restaurants and bars loved by the locals. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, they gave great recommendations for restaurants and wished us a very happy honeymoon. The room was clean, decorated beautifully and incredibly comfortable after a day of exploring Venice. Would highly recommend!

We stayed here for 3 nights. The rooms were spacious with comfortable beds and decent pillows. The rooms facilities were also good. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful.||Breakfast was perfect for us with enough choices between hot and cold options, but some might find it a bit limited if staying for longer. The breakfast service for made to order coffee was very good.||The hotel was within a short walk of all of the places of interest and not too far from some decent restaurants.||The only 2 things that stopped an "excellent" rating were that there was no lift, so we had to haul heavy cases up the stairs to the reception desk, plus we had a very noisy air conditioning unit, which we needed to have on, but which disturbed our sleep. ||However, we had a wonderful stay in Venice and would recommend this hotel.

We stayed here as a family of four for two nights, and loved it! Rooms were spacious and clean, location was great, and staff was very nice. We were told we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel the day of checkout, so we were able to enjoy one last day in Venice. Highly recommend :)

Yelp
Pensione Guerrato is a well kept, quiet choice tucked away in central Venice. It is near the Rialto Bridge and the Mercato del Pesce water bus stops. Our room was large and comfortable. The common areas are equally large and comfortable. No elevator, so be prepared to carry your luggage up to reception and then up to your room! The included breakfast buffet is filling and we'll prepared. Staff are charming, speak English and are very helpful. A very good choice!

Yelp
We just left Pensione Guerrato after a great 3-night stay and were also very impressed with the customer service at this hotel. First of all, the hotel is literally less than 1 minute's walk from the Rialto Mercato vaporetto stop. It's also 2min away from the Rialto bridge. You can't beat the location of this hotel... close enough to the center of everything and in a very safe area. The rooms are simple -- we were in a family/quadruple room on the 4th floor -- but they have everything you need and most importantly they are spotlessly clean! The floors are terrazzo and were squeaky clean during our entire stay. The beds were comfortable and we found both the room and the bathroom to be very spacious. There was plenty of hot water for those that like to take hot showers. The breakfast was ample: fresh croissants, boiled eggs, ham, turkey, mozzarella, Swiss cheese, two types of sliced bread, juices, milk, jams, Nutella, yogurt, whole fruit, and a huge coffee machine for you to select a latte, cappuccino, macchiato, hot chocolate, americano, etc. If I had one "negative" thing to point out about our stay, it would be that the room's air conditioning was not ice cold, but it was cold enough, and this was something that was very common in the hotels we stayed at during our last 3 weeks in Italy (we were here during a heat wave). Our room faced a piazza with a few restaurants/bars and last night (Saturday) we could hear music and voices, but only just barely over the sound of the air conditioning unit. Now onto what set this hotel apart for us: the stellar customer service. Each time we arrived at the hotel we were greeted with a smile and a cheerful buongiorno. When we checked in, the gentleman at the front desk gave us a map and noted important transportation info (it was our first time in Venice so the local transportation is a bit different than in the rest of the world), and he suggested a great walking route for us to explore that neighborhood, which we advise everyone to do, because the piazzas and churches along the route are so beautiful... and he even gave each of our two teens a card of the hotel with the address and phone number, etc. just in case they got lost, so they would know where to get "home" -- I thought that was very nice of him. One day the other gentleman at the front desk (with a very deep voice) helped us with detailed info on how to get to the Murano and Burano islands. Last night the young man at reception helped with detailed information on how to get to the airport this morning, including times of the vaporetto, where to transfer to get the bus to the airport and the times of the bus... he even had an early breakfast waiting for us this morning (breakfast usually starts at 7:30 but we left the hotel at 7:00)... customer service like this, when people go above and beyond, it is hard to come by, and we were extremely happy with our stay at Pensione Guerrato and will definitely stay here again the next time we come to Venice!

Yelp
Definitely a convenient hotel near the train station and the market place in Venice. Walking distance to everything and fairly close to Rialto Bridge and Rialto Mercato! Definitely not that far from the Grand Canal or St Mark's Square either. Downside is that there are a ton of stairs!! The walls are really thin and the water pressure is very very weak! The rooms are spacious enough and so are the bathrooms. You have to grab your key and check it in every time you leave.. sometimes they didn't ask for confirmation of our name when we ask for a key to a specific room, which is a bit concerning. Wifi definitely doesn't work - as in you're almost worse than dialup . But location is good and it's a good space.

Yelp
Total # of people: 3 -- # of rooms: 01 -- # of nights: 2 Arrival: May 1, 2022 - Departure: May 2, 2022 I booked this place based upon Rick Steve's recommendation and solid online reviews. We were assigned a very spartan room behind the curtains near the reception. Fairly managed expectations, so it was accepted. Unfortunately, the evening and the night was extremely horrible, and we (my wife, son, and I) couldn't sleep a wink due to nonstop party nearby at what seemed to be an outside venue. It was too hot to close the windows and too much noise and too many mosquitoes to keep it open. I stepped outside but no one was at the reception. We persevered. In the morning, I told this horrible experience to the guy (I believe he's one of the owners) and another woman at the counter. Both were very dismissive of my explanation and said that there are laws against overnight partying in Rome. Well, no one was minding any laws that night. As it was our first trip to Venice as a family, I just couldn't expose my family to another horrible night, and ended up checking out early and finding another hotel. Pensione charged me for two nights, instead to understanding the plight and making any effort to accommodate. It's an ordinary place with a pompous management. There is no way that I'll recommend it to anyone ever!

Yelp
Pensione Guerrato really earned all five stars. They are located off one of the side streets of the fish and produce market (smell not a concern in the hotel at all), moments from the Rialto bridge, perfectly situated to walk to the boats to Murano, Burano, etc. The staff was incredibly helpful in-person and over email. Breakfast is standard European fare, with American coffee available. The website is honest about the number of steps one has to climb to enter the rooms, but it's worth it. Wonderful views all around, even not on the canal side. We spent two nights at the bar just behind the Pensione with European beer options, and great outdoor soccer watching of the Euro Cup. It's very close to cafes for cheap take-away food or more expensive sit-down options on the Canal. It's all in the details: -They recommended a restaurant that become our favorite in all of Italy: La Buona Forchetta. -Marco allowed us to stow our bags in his room after check-out so we could continue a little sight-seeing that day. -Free Wifi in the lobby. -Excellent accommodations for two couples traveling: two bedrooms in the same hallway with bathrooms. -Many different accommodation options - see their website. -Staff available 24/7 for questions about tourist attractions, in English or Italian. -Free map of Venice upon check-in. -Lively conversations, including about the hotel tax and economic difficulties in Italy. If we returned to Venice, Pensione Guerrato would be our home!

Yelp
I could have sworn I reviewed this place, but I guess not. Anywho, stayed here in November 2016 while on a Rick Steves tour. Customer service from check-in to the breakfast room staff to check-out and beyond was impeccable. I was lucky enough to get the attic room, which was AWESOME. No complaints about anything, really, other than the fact that they didn't have hair dryers. I normally don't have an issue with that, but when it's November and rainy/wet, it was a bit unsettling. I would gladly stay here again.

Yelp
An older hotel near the produce and fish market but on a vaporetto stop so you can avoid moving your luggage over a bridge. Friendly staff give helpful dining suggestions like cichetti. Rooms are sparse and have minimal outlets. Look for their sign on the second floor where the lobby is. Not convenient to San Marco

Yelp
We found this lovely hotel on the recommendation of Rick Steves. After our stay, I'm happy to say that the popular Mr. Steves did not mislead us. We came in by train, and took a very short ride on the vaporetto to the stop recommended by the hotel. A minute of walking and we were there- very easy, even with a huge suitcase! The staff are friendly, and accommodating to the English-speaking traveler. Our room was number 5, a large corner room with a slight view of the Grand Canal. When I say the room was large, what I really mean is enormous. The room had a desk, separated by maybe five feet from the double bed, which was another six feet or so from the pull out sofa (which was comfy to nap on as a couch). A wardrobe provided ample space for our clothes, and the modern bathroom was spacious enough as well. Like many Italian hotels, Pensione Guerrato provides breakfast to guests. The breakfast consisted of assorted cereals, rolls and croissants, jams and cheeses, yogurt, and drinks. Unfortunately, the coffee was atrocious. It tasted like an urn was filled with hot water, and a package of old instant coffee was thrown in. Buy an espresso after you leave the hotel for your day, and you'll be all set. The location, steps from the Rialto Mercato, is convenient to the sites of Venice by foot and vaporetto. There are many dining options nearby, and the rooms are spacious and well-appointed. Make a note, though, because they prefer (and give a discount) if you pay in cash. Exact change appreciated.

Yelp
I stayed for two nights in the busy month of July. The hotel is fine and clean. I liked the location and the AC. Wifi only works in the lobby. The reason this place gets only two stars from me is that the front desk fellow was so down right rude and unfriendly. I understand Venice is over run by tourists, but I arrived tired and happy to be there. He actually made a face when I asked a couple of questions. He was so put off by me. And I should mention I didn't behave like a rude American. I greeted him in Italian and was kind. I had several interactions with him and they were all off putting. I would not recommend spending your hard earned money in this place to be treated so unkindly.

Yelp
Great value. Charming and beautiful hotel interior. Room was nice although I didn't love terrazzo floors in the room. Front desk staff ranged from exceptionally helpful to moderately helpful. Great location, although I'd recommend asking for a room that does not overlook the market if you want to be asleep before 1am or wake up after 730a. Overall great value (€135/night cash in Venice!) and we'd 100% stay there again. Oh also, when in Venice you MUST take the vaparetto out to San Giorgio to get away from the crowds and see Venice from across the lagoon. A highlight of our trip, recommended by the tall, very handsome guy that worked the front desk.

Yelp
We have stayed at Pensione Guerrato for many years and always find it to be fantastic. Roberto is wonderful and he helps to make everything fine. The rooms are very lovely and the location is great. Everything is clean and well taken care of. The breakfast is great and the staff is helpful. We cannot recommend it enough! Roberta (Robbye) and Harvey Hamburgh, Montana

Yelp
We were also led here by Rick Steves. Probably the most disappointing place we stayed during our trip through Italy. The best thing about this place is its location by the Rialto market. No TV or Internet access in the room. Free wi-fi in the lobby which means you'll be sitting by someone's room trying to access it. Room was large but very dark and cave-like. Breakfast was your standard continental breakfast - I would recommend just getting a pastry at the bakery around the corner. Overall, very basic.

Yelp
Fantastico! We stayed in one if their apartments and a room at the hotel both were amazing. Front desk very nice. At the hotel a complimentary continental breakfast. Great value

Yelp
Pensione Guerrato is an AMAZING place to stay. My wife and I stay here every time we are in Venice and would never think of staying anywhere else. Being right off the market and the Rialto Bridge it is in a great location. The rooms and bathrooms are top notch and the service is to match. Roberto and Pietro are amazing hosts. Would definitely recommend to anybody who will be staying in Venice!

Yelp
I stayed at the Pensione Guerrato for one night and was so pleased with the service that I contacted them for my return to Venice and was guided to their Piccolo Apartment where I was pleasantly settled for 8 nights. Both places were clean and accommodating. At the apartment there isn't daily service or breakfast; instead there is a kitchenette. I found a good grocery just a few blocks away, and was happy with the restaurant recommendations from Roberto. He was a 5 star host! The locations of each place were great for seeing everything and getting around. The Piccolo is 2 blocks from St Marks Square and the Duomo. St. Zulian's Church is next door and was so nice to stop into for a few quiet moments. Staying there made my visit to Venice remarkable.
