Sancraiu is such a beautiful village. You can feel the love and care of the locals for the treasure they own and share with the world. Istvan’s boarding house is a welcoming place. His wife and daughter cook delightful local dishes. Istvan and his son are taking care of the good running of the place. A family owned business offering great accommodation, delicious food, a charming garden. There is even a little museum of traditional items on the premises. The cats 🐈‍⬛ are funny and friendly. I highly recommend this place.

The guest house is built from an old barn, the rooms are big and very clean. The restaurant is a small museum itself, lots of traditional decorations. It's impeccably clean and well organized. The breakfast is far better than the open buffet of lots of hotels, traditional food ("bundás kenyér" - bread with eggs), home made butter, home made jam and a lot of other goodies. The dinner is very tasty, traditional specialties, the welcome drink (pálinka and blueberry liqueur) is excellent. And last, but not least the host. Mr. Istvàn is present and very helpful, he provides a lot of interesting information. The gem of the guest house is the small museum with a lot of precious objects, hand-painted plates, traditional costumes, old pictures - an homage to the ancestors. Overall it was an excellent experience and a place to visit again.

Good food, nice place to stay and what I really love is the museum organized by the owners which is like a village museum that gathers the local traditions in one unique place.
