I visited Liege for work the week of 11/17/2025. I stayed for 3 nights. Let me start by saying this hotel is in a great location. It's centrally located and within walking distance to tons of stores and restaurants.
The entrance/lobby area is great. The pool table (although missing a cue ball) is a great time waster and helps forge bonds with your traveling companions or other guests.
The front desk staff is slightly attitudinal, but generally helpful. This may be due to how incredibly understaffed they appear to be. If you have the budget, you should absolutely opt for the breakfast buffet.
The rooms..... I stayed on the 5th floor and the rooms felt incredibly dated. The carpet may as well have been bare hard flooring... Literally ZERO cushion on the flooring. My room was like a sauna.... I sleep cold... So I turned the heat off, waited 15 minutes and switched it to air conditioning.... It still blew hot. I waited close to an hour for improvement before calling the front desk for support. They sent a "Technician" who confirmed the situation, left, and never came back... I ended up having to sleep with the windows open (even though it was 1°C outside).
Beds were comfy. Shower was meh. Provided soap was good. But why provide shampoo but no conditioner? Why have pump bottles of everything except lotion ? Just weird.
The key cards get demagnetized EXTREMELY easily. So, keep away from your mobile devices..nothing's worse than coming to the hotel after a long day, going all the way up to the 5th floor, only to not be able to get into your room!!!!
Overall, I give the Penta 3.5 Stars. There's some basic stuff that could be done to make this place really special, like adding full king sized comforters to the bed, updating the rooms, improving staff bedside manners, and being more supportive to guests concerns/needs. But for what it is, it serves its purpose.
Next time though, I will stay at the van der valk.
