Penzión Atrium

A really, really cozy hotel in the old town of Poprad. The hotel is situated on a large square with restaurants and cafes nearby. Large parts of Poprad still have a typical Eastern European design that may not be so charming, but the pedestrian streets in the center are also pleasant. However, it is the old town that is clearly the city's most charming area. The hotel itself is nice with good and clean rooms. We had a room facing the large square, allowing us to also see the Tatra Mountains in the background. The food was good and inexpensive. The hotel has a small bar which was also quite affordable, and it was lovely to sit in the beautiful courtyard and relax in the evening.

This was not first and not last time we stayed here. We hiked for 6 days in the High Tatras, and this was the guesthouse for our 1st and 7th nights in Slovakia. The rooms were comfortable, and staff was very courteous. The food (gulash) we had on the 1st night was very good! But, what we didn’t know was that we would be served the exact same meal for the next 5 nights in the mountain huts (chatas). Those locations have extremely limited options (food is delivered via mountain carrier in some of the cases), and if you choose the half board you will be given gulash with no other option. When we returned to Atrium for night 7, we were ready for something else. Point being, this restaurant has a full menu and a lovely chef, so if you have the option to skip the half board on your nights in a vibrant city like Poprad, I recommend doing so. We had a lovely piece of trout here on the last evening. Alternatively, if you are only in Poprad for 1-2 evenings and want traditional food while you visit, then the on-site restaurant does a fine job.||||I also must comment on the excellent breakfast, as this was the only place we stayed which offered any kind of FIBER/plant/seed options for breakfast (other than bread). They had muesli with several different toppings (sunflower seeds, chia and flax seeds) as well as fresh fruit. It was very much appreciated!

Excellent service, friendly staff, well-priced delicious food. We went back twice and weren't disappointed! Thank you! :)||Make sure you try the grilled sausage starter and the hot raspberry dessert. Some of the best dishes we ate on our trip to Slovakia

This penzion is absolutely amazing very good services providing and is very clean the cleaner is amazing and in restaurant serving delicious food waiters is very friendly this beautiful hotel & Penzión I'm personally recommend I'm definitely will be back thank you Atrium ♥️

We were here for two evenings. The rooms were very clean and comfortable however the one waitress in the restaurant was terribly rude. We didn't have any choices in our half-board orders. You get what they made. Our soup starter was broth with one small piece of potato in it, the main dish was some sort of goulash with a lot of bread and the desert was an overripe plum. People ordering off the menu were treated better by the waitress and the food definitely looked better than what we received.

I had Deer Goulash and dumplings and it was just fantastic. Some lovely homemade fruit juice cocktails, great coffee and some lovely local spirits. Easy larking and was just across the road from my hotel. The whole square and it's building are idyllic.

It has several rooms and a few tables in the atrium (ha!) leading to a courtyard. Nice atmosphere, frequented by locals. Not much English, but staff manages to communicate. Beer on tap, not a great selection of bottles. The food is local and well prepared, prices are very reasonable.
