Oh dear, where do i start? Ok. I will start with positives from family perspective... Charming village with a lot of traditions and character. Everything is overpriced!
We stayed in a room suitable for 8 people. Thank god there was a back room with a door as we wouldn't be sleeping at all. The front room had two beds plus a pull up but every single tiny noise someone made was like we were sleeping outside. There was a family on our floor with a dog, yes dog, that was barking and kids up and screaming until after midnight. At €110 a night you'd expect better conditions and service. The highlight was our dinner the evening we arrived. The owner with some other guy talking rather loudly and literally swearing his head off. Luckily my son do not understand Slovak but if he did I'd say something. This is the lowest consideration to the paying guests I've ever seen, anywhere. Just shocking behaviour from manager. The food was nice by the way.
Further on, if you are expecting any lay in in the morning don't get your hopes up. In a room for €110 a night you get short sheets that do not stretch all the way so you end up sleeping on a matrace that 100s people slept on before you, there are no curtains on the windows so you end up waking up at 5am in the morning in the summer. You want to have a shower in the bath? Forget it, you won't be able to stand up. Oh and try to work out the parking and you'd get a nobel prize in mathematics or risk a fine. I'm a native speaker and i couldn't do it. Btw if you have a foreign SIM card your sms parking will not work and there are no parking meters to buy tickets from so probably expect a fine by the morning.
The village is charming and full of history. We stopped in the nearby Salaš (a place to have traditional Slovak meals but not limited to).
It's one of those places you should visit but i wouldn't recommend Javorinka penzión. That place has some serious issues to fix. Oh and one good thing I forgot to mention was that the place would give you mountain bikes so that's a nice touch but if rather have a decent room and service than free bikes.
