"Owned by the Franklin restaurant team, Peppermint Bay Hotel in Woodbridge is a destination restaurant not only for its modern Aussie fare cooked up with farm-fresh produce (a lot of it grown on-site). It’s also beloved for its panoramic views of the D'Entrecasteaux Channel and regular concerts featuring the likes of Justin Townes Earle and Marlon Williams, which travelers can sail to on a Peppermint Bay cruise from Sullivans Cove in Hobart. While you’re in Woodbridge, pop by the tasting room at Woodbridge Smokehouse to sample ocean trout and Atlantic salmon smoked over a variety of hardwoods including shavings from the surrounding apple orchard."

The food is mostly very nice but portion is pretty small 😅 I like the wings 👍 but the lamb pizza is pretty burnt the whole plate came over with a very heavy burnt smells and taste very better we all didn’t eat the end part, the waiter reply to us “ oh yeah it’s a bit burnt” 😒 He did not apologize and just left after making that comment . It felt as if our concerns are overlooked

After coming here a few years ago, we decided to go back as the food was good. But sadly our night was ruined by terrible food and horrible service. We had the fish and potatoes and the cape grim short rib. We attempted to clarify what came with the meals but the wait staff had a language barrier that was too heavy. The short rib was terrible with zero flavour and the chips were average at best..the fish and potatoes were also terrible, small portion and came out burnt, and the potatoes were raw. I attempted to tell the server who didn't understand due to them not speaking English well. We attempted to speak with another server who asked how our meals were, the server said that the kitchen was not prepared to cook the short rib and probably didn't "mix it well". And he then just said he was sorry we didn't enjoy it..We just stopped eating and went to pay. We spoke with the manager at the bar who was really nice, he said he wished he had heard about the bad food earlier, even though he did know there was a problem as he mentioned it strait away..... we advised we tried to tell the server but he didn't understand. The manager was nice enough to comp the meals but he did charge us for the drinks, I decided to tip $5 for the gesture. The staff in the kitchen need to be fired or retrained asap as the food they are preparing is well below par and serving raw food is unacceptable. Unfortunately we will not be back. Be warned this place serves small portions at high prices and low quality. The take away shop at Margate does better food.

I’ve been on an evening private function cruise and cocktail style food at Peppermint Bay, and a day time public cruise recently including food and drinks at Peppermint Bay Restaurant. Both experiences were excellent.

Do yourself a favour and book the lunch cruise. Food is amazing, location amazing and staff especially amazing. Disability friendly, they have a buggy to drive anyone with mobility issues up to the restaurant. It's my 6th time & loved the experience as much as the 1st time.

Severely disappointed. Went for a birthday lunch and sat outside on a beautiful sunny day. Looking around I felt the place was lacking maintenance, lawns untidy, outdoor tables in desperate need of some oil, building looking a bit run down etc. Our meals were delivered to the table behind us by mistake (the people who received them didn’t say anything, and began eating our steak). Ten minutes later, the waitress bought out another round of meals to the same table, and we pointed out that the first ones were delivered to the wrong table. So after my oysters and blue eye travalla had been sitting on someone else’s table for ten minutes in the sun, they were then given to me by the waitress with a “oh sorry, we”lol have to cook you another steak” to my wife. The other table then received the steak that they ordered, after already eating half of the first one. Not wanting to leave my seafood in the sun for any longer, I had to eat my meal while my wife waited for her steak to be cooked. One oyster was all I could manage, obviously had either been frozen or sitting in the fridge for days. Watery and not fresh at all. The blue eye, was in fact a handful of cold rice with a boiled egg on top, and traces of cold, dry fish throughout. To serve this up as a main dish is an embarrassment. The steak arrived 20 minutes later accompanied by 2 potatoes and a teaspoon of mustard. An incredibly thick strip of un-rendered fat took up more of the plate than anything thing else. We were offered a free drink for the stuff up, but declined as the first beer was flat, as was the champagne which was the last dregs of a bottle. We went home disappointed and hungry.

Living locally we’ve been regulars of peppermint bay for years & have enjoyed many a nice evening there. But after going this Saturday evening sadly it will be our last. The meal was a very expensive let down, menu was very limited, very small portions (but large price) overcooked fish & bland salad, which we had to order as the main could have been served on a saucer! Location perfect, service good, New chef needs replacing!
