Periplous Restaurant

This has been one of the most meaningful culinary experiences, as it was my wife's and my last dinner before getting engaged while sailing the next day. This all before realizing that Periplous mean sailing around, and the meaning of its context. The food was great and the waiters were attentive. I'd argue it has one of the top sunset view seating in Crete.

Quite disappointing experience. It was supposed to be a nice evening, but it wasn't. We have got the table just in the first line, the views were stunning at the sunset. We were offered a welcome drinks, a bit of sparking wine, well we didn't refused. We decided to try X3 different starters for the beginning and a bottle of good wine. I know the appetizers are not big, but these ones were just super tiny, nothing to eat at all. Super small ceviche, just few pieces of fish. One tentacle of octopus and a small piece of lamb. Overall, good was quite delicious, but not exceptional. Small starter was more expensive than the large regular portion in the old town! The homemade bread was just four small pieces(later we asked so another ones and figured out that these 4 pieces were 2 portion with the price of 3 euro each). The waiting time was quite long and we decided to leave and asked for a bill. It was a "nice" surprise to see in the bill that we were extra charged for 22euro for the "Welcome" drinks. To summarize - we spent 120+ for few starters and a bottle of wine, and had to leave to find another restaurant to have a proper dinner. This restaurant left a mixed feeling - it definitely has a good potential, but serious changes would be needed, I would not go there again.

This place has an amazing location right by the water, and at sunset the view is a straight 10/10. The staff was super professional and attentive – you can really feel the attention to detail and great training. We had three courses, all of them very tasty. Starters and desserts were bigger than expected, while the main was a bit smaller, but still plenty – nobody left hungry. We came as a group of ten, and everyone had a fantastic time. Great food, great service, and an unbeatable setting! Price wise we found it good value for money.

Fine dining with a view, excellent service & all at a reasonable price. Each dish was beautifully executed but the crayfish on bruschetta was amazing. All staff were welcoming and well informed. The only disappointment was that they did not have the passionfruit dessert.

A beautiful setting to enjoy the sunset, the view of the sea and delicious food. A big thank you to Elaina (?)/ Aleyna(?). Thank you for being so kind and professional. I ordered a glass of bubbles to start with, an oyster, ragu, and hazelnut dessert. The ragu was so tasty. When I finished mine and the next tables ragu came, I wanted more! It's a very special spot. I love the ocean and being able to dine so close to it was amazing.

Very nice restaurant with limited menu but wonderful dishes and wines on offer. Service is courteous but not very friendly. Wines are not poured at table so you do not get to see bottles.

A great place to go to for drinks, which we paired with their appetiser menu. Definitely worth going to for a special occasion. Obviously a great place to go to for sunset views. Amazing cocktails, highly attentive staff, beautiful plating, and delectable tastes. Since the fish taverna across from the resraurant closed down, the atmosphere is now much more serene. Definitely worth going at least once a year

We have been highly recommended to try Periplous and surprisingly I had never heard about it, and trust me I always make a thorough search for the finest dining and experiences when I travel. I was glad we did not miss it this time as it turned out to be a real gem. Periplous is part of a fabulous minimal luxury hotel, located on a small port just a little further down from the main Chania port. The location is magical and we made sure to arrive an hour before sunset to take it all in. The view is truly something special. As breathtaking as the setting was, what impressed us most was the food. Every plate was perfection, refined and full of flavor, even better than the view itself. When you mix that with the smooth attentive service you are guaranteed an unforgettable culinary experience. Periplous is not just a restaurant, it is a journey worth remembering.
