Hotel Periscope, Athens, Greece - Explore & Book

"This sleek boutique hotel boasts a highly desirable address in Kolonaki, the poshest patch in downtown Athens. The grey brushed-concrete façade is a fitting prelude to the industrial-chic interiors: 6 floors of uncluttered minimalism in shades of black, white and grey... even the staff (young and obliging) wear grey suits. A joystick linked to a rooftop camera allows guests to zoom in on their surroundings, a novel twist on the urban surveillance theme, which continues upstairs. Here, 21 rooms and suites make clever use of limited space, with fold-away mirrors and wall-mounted plasma screens. The influence of art patron and owner Dakis Ioannou is apparent: ceilings are wallpapered with aerial cityscapes, light boxes feature panoramas of Athens by day and night, and a giant mural covers one exterior wall. Perfectly placed in the classy heart of the city, top quality restaurants are at your fingertips, and all of Athens' delights are within easy reach. Highs Handy location on a quiet, central side-street in fashionable KolonakiGadgets galore: free WiFi, built-in sound systems, electric blinds, clever showers - and great staff to show you how to operate them!Surrounded by some of Athens' smartest and swankiest eateriesThe Penthouse Suite has a wonderful rooftop Jacuzzi (if you can afford it) Lows Standard Rooms are very compact and lack balconiesThe grey and black public spaces can be oppressiveIt's hemmed in by apartment blocks (unless you can afford that penthouse)Rooms on lower floors can be noisy" - Rachel Howard

Periscope Hotel (Athens, Greece) 30 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"There’s a lot more to Greece than just fine beach weather and whitewashed waterfront villas. One might expect that the birthplace of Western civilization would remain a forward-thinking, cosmopolitan city, and one would be right. Signs of sophistication are everywhere: restaurants, shops, galleries, and occasionally a very up-to-date boutique hotel on the order of the Periscope." - Tablet Hotels

My husband and I stayed at the Periscope Hotel in Athens, Greece to celebrate our 40th anniversary and what a delight it was! Everyone from front desk to housekeeping to managment was extraordinarily wonderful - friendly, helpful, anxious to tell us about the city, make recommendations, reservations, or lend us a tablet to solve our cell phone problem the minute we checked in. Over the course of our stay in Greece, we stayed in 3 rooms and each was perfect. Of course, the penthouse with it's private rooftop hot tub was the most perfect! | We had booked a standard room using Marriott Bonvoy points and were immediately upgraded to a superior room. The room is sleek and modern, comfortable bed,and is cleaned daily. The penthouse was a real treat! Huge room with a sitting area, great view, the works.| The location is very convient with loads of shops and restaurants, the National Botanical Garden, the Plaka, and more just minutes away. It is a very walkable area. There is snack food, coffee and other drinks available in the lobby all the time. | We loved the Periscope and their staff so much that we will definely be returning on our next trip to Athens! Give it a try; you won't be sorry!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 We stayed at the Periscope Hotel in Athens, part of the Marriott Design Hotels Collection, and it was absolutely unforgettable. We booked the Penthouse Suite, and if you can, do the same — it’s one of the most breathtaking rooms in the city. The suite itself is beautiful — modern, comfortable, quiet, and full of natural light. The bed is incredibly comfortable, the shower is huge, and the details are just right. But the real magic happens when you step upstairs to your private rooftop terrace. The view from the jacuzzi is insane — a full panoramic view of Athens and the Acropolis, right there in front of you. Day or night, it’s spectacular. A huge thank you to Diana at the front desk, who made our short stay so memorable. She was gracious, kind, and helped us with dinner reservations, taxis, and anything we needed. The service overall was outstanding — warm, personal, and professional. We only stayed one night, but it was truly special. There’s a small 24-hour buffet lounge with snacks, coffee, and drinks available anytime, which made everything even easier. Every corner of this hotel feels thoughtfully run and cared for. If you’re visiting Athens and want something extraordinary, book the Penthouse at Periscope Hotel. You’ll have your own private jacuzzi overlooking the Acropolis — a view you’ll never forget.

A truly lovely find in Athens’ elegant Kolonaki neighborhood; close to everything, sleek boutique hotel with very comfortable and well-appointed rooms and an absolutely wonderful staff, this is a great pied-a-terre far from the mega or touristy hotels. With very few rooms, the vibe is hip, chic and understated. The staff clearly loves their city and are happy to offer recommendations for restaurants that were spot-on in terms of delicious and great people-watching. In a busy, noisy city like Athens, it’s wonderful to stay in a quiet, comfortable and welcoming hotel.

Sub-standard “standard” room. Have stayed at this hotel in the past due to its location in Kolonaki but everything has gone downhill since. Upon arrival zero recognition for AMEX platinum status or Marriot Bonvoy gold and an inhospitable welcome. The hotel is comprised of 5 rooms per floor, 4 of which face the street and have large windows. These are called premium rooms. There is 1 standard room per floor which ends in -05 and it is ersatz to the rest. It’s in a back corner of the building that has no direct light. It’s in a very narrow light well staring directly into other buildings walls, pipes, and mechanical systems. The bed faces the door and the hallway and a crawl space accessed via a ventilation panel into the common corridor. The entire room was always dark at any time of day. There were black out shades but not any in the bathroom so the small crevasse of light that came through the bathroom also came into the room since the bathroom didn’t have black out. There was a lot of light seepage from the hallway and air vent above the door into the room as bright as the downlight in the hallway. The sound in the hotel is loud and constant. Not from the street, but from other guests dragging chairs across the floor, closing the bathroom door, and flushing the toilet — you can hear everything. Byredo products in bathroom were empty upon arrival and never refilled for 2 night stay. I would not recommend this room to anyone. I would be very careful to check what room you are getting. I would double check to see if the hotel is full if you’re expecting any sort of upgrade or room swap. There aren’t really any perks or positive things to say about the hotel.

I had a fantastic experience at this hotel! The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and professional – they truly made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The rooms were spotless, beautifully maintained, and very comfortable. I also loved the location – it was convenient, quiet, and close to everything I needed. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again!

We only stayed here one night but we enjoyed it. It's quite close to the metro but quite a steep walk up the hill. We loved the neighborhood - very charming and unique. Lots of great restaurants and shops. The rooms were very simple but cute and clean. The free snacks they gave away were very tasty!

The staff was exceptional !! |It made our time in Athens a joy !!||If you are a 1st timer in Athens or an experienced visitor- I highly recommend the Periscope hotel.||Remember it is a boutique hotel- so the location is perfect- the hotel has a limited number of rooms and the staff are truly welcoming and knowledgeable. The staff made this an outstanding experience.
