Perivoli Country Hotel & Retreat, near Nafplio, Peloponnese, Greece - Explore & Book

"Perivoli means ‘orchard’, and this terracotta-coloured hotel sits right among the orange and lemon groves, high on a hill above the handsome and historic town of Nafplio, with the Argolid Gulf sparkling behind. It’s the perfect setting for a taste of Greek history – besides neoclassical Nafplio, you’ve got ancient Mycenae, Epidavros, Nemea and Tiryns all within easy reach – combined with lazy days on the beach, exploring the region’s rolling Tuscan-like hills, or just chilling on the hotel’s sunny south-facing pool deck. Whether as a self-contained minibreak - it’s only an hour from Athens – or as a stopover en route to the southern Peloponnese, we can’t recommend it enough. As for the hotel itself, it comes with an airy lobby bar with table football and comfy sofas, a superb virtual breakfast buffet (to cut back on food waste) boasting homegrown or local ingredients, great eco credentials and super-friendly staff. Its 12 bedrooms – spacious, comfortable, perhaps not the height of chic – are spread over two levels, with a choice of direct garden access or better views. There’s also a separate two-bedroom apartment, perfect for families wanting extra independence for a few days. A really great find. Highs The big, sunny pool deck is a wonderful place to laze and graze, or to refresh after sweaty sightseeing Kids will love it here: not just the pool, but also the generous staff and most rooms can fit an extra bed It’s family-run, and it shows: owner Vangelis and his staff greet returning guests like old friends We loved having a secluded hilltop bolthole to escape to, after the (relative) crowds of Nafplio and Mycenae Great value, too Lows It’s perched at the top of some steep narrow lanes, well signed but fiddly They no longer serve lunch and dinner, but there's an all-day snack menu, and no shortage of eateries in nearby Nafplio We found the corridors rather echoey The bedrooms and bathrooms are on the functional side" - Michael Cullen

This is a beautiful hotel! Situated outside the bustle of lovely Nafplio through a little village and up a windy road the view is stunning. The staff who work there are SO SO helpful. They have many awards and richly deserved in our view. Our room was beautiful, spacious airy. Simply decorated. Calm. Pool is welcome and although we didn’t have the dish of the day, we ate the daily snack menus. Stuffed vine leaves were delicious.. among many other things. |Personally I (we) loved being out of Nafplio (and once you get back on the main road it’s just straight in for a short way) …|There are two tavernas in the little village which we were told were good … it was a national holiday when we were there and so we didn’t go as very busy but loved the hotel terrace, fading light , a drink at their lovely bar and a light meal. Perfect! Thank you Team Perivoli.

The Perivoli never disappoints. On this trip my wife and I brought our granddaughter to experience the region. |After the hustle and bustle of Athens the Perivoli was a welcome and peaceful retreat. As usual the staff was pleasant and attentive. |We booked a family room which was large and comfortable. It had a huge bathroom which was much appreciated by our granddaughter. |The pool with its unmatched views was a great place to unwind. We loved the wonderful breakfast each morning before heading out on our travels. |We’ve stayed here before and God willing we’ll be back. If you’re in the area give it a try….you can thank me later.

We stayed at the Hotel Perivoli six nights. Everyone was very helpful and courteous, especially Georgianne, the front desk/ everything else staff member. She coordinated taxi rides to Nafplio, about a 15 minute taxi drive. In addition she organized for us do a tour of an olive oil production facility. The facility was clean and welcoming. Our room was kept everyday. The view from our room was beautiful to say the least! We purchased breakfast for our stay. There was a variety of meal choices. All breakfasts were made to order and authentically Greek. We didn't use the pool because the weather was too cold. However, it was open and well kept.

Small hotel, with only 12 rooms. |Incredibly friendly staff, offering to make a small meal when we arrived late in the evening.||The hotel is very private, the only sound you’ll hear are the crickets. The warm athmosphere makes you feel you have the place all to yourselves.||Amazing pool, open from 9am untill 7pm. ||Breakfast is served at your table- all very fresh.||Close to Nafplio, but we also recommend to have at least one meal in the small village!

Great hotel with homemade lemonade offered upon arrival which was welcomed after such a long journey and with the heat. The rooms were spacious and clean with a very comfortable bed and a good bathroom. We only spent one night there and the breakfast in the morning was great, 5 courses!!

A really lovely place, quiet and well appointed (lots of hot water, a well-sized room, tea and coffee-making facilities, a terrace and a pristine pool as well as an a la carte breakfast with many choices and smiling service). ||It's not just the brilliant view and the above facilities, what makes this place is the staff. Georgia welcomed us - and our dog Bubble - with open arms, brought a bed and bowls for her. There's cold water in the fridge, sweets and Georgia gave us really valuable advice about where to go and eat in the area. Without Georgia's advice, we would not have discovered Tolo and Vivari, two great coastal spots about twenty minutes' drive away. She became a friend in a flash and is one of those people whom you can 'gel' with instantly.

Second time visiting. Staff are exceptional. Beautiful view. Nice breakfast included. Pool closes at 7:00 pm which is quite inconvenient after a long hot day. Room showers are awkwardly arranged. Signage up the winding dirt road is not great.

A Hidden Gem with Heart! Wow! What an absolute find this place was! From the moment we arrived, even though it was a last-minute booking and quite late, we were met with the most wonderful and welcoming staff who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. They truly understood the meaning of hospitality, kindly accommodating all our comfort requests, including the incredibly thoughtful gesture of extending our access to the swimming pool. After a long journey, that dip was pure bliss! And let's talk about the setting – simply breathtaking! The views of the surrounding hills are magnificent, creating a serene and picturesque backdrop that you could stare at for hours. The swimming pool is inviting and well-maintained, perfect for a refreshing break. Inside, the rooms are a dream: modernly furnished, clean, and incredibly comfortable, providing the perfect sanctuary after a day of exploring. A Little Tip for Future Travelers: While this place is a slice of paradise, I highly recommend asking the owners for specific directions before you set off. My navigation tried to play hide-and-seek, and trust me, you won't want to miss a moment of this beautiful spot trying to find it! To the Owners: Your dedication to guest comfort truly shines through. Thank you for creating such a welcoming and beautiful haven. Perhaps a small note on your booking confirmation with a recommended navigation route or landmark pointers could be helpful for future guests. It would just make that first arrival even smoother! Efharisto poli for an unforgettable stay!
