Perivoli Country Hotel & Retreat, near Nafplio, Peloponnese, Greece - Explore & Book

"Perivoli means ‘orchard’, and this terracotta-coloured hotel sits right among the orange and lemon groves, high on a hill above the handsome and historic town of Nafplio, with the Argolid Gulf sparkling behind. It’s the perfect setting for a taste of Greek history – besides neoclassical Nafplio, you’ve got ancient Mycenae, Epidavros, Nemea and Tiryns all within easy reach – combined with lazy days on the beach, exploring the region’s rolling Tuscan-like hills, or just chilling on the hotel’s sunny south-facing pool deck. Whether as a self-contained minibreak - it’s only an hour from Athens – or as a stopover en route to the southern Peloponnese, we can’t recommend it enough. As for the hotel itself, it comes with an airy lobby bar with table football and comfy sofas, a superb virtual breakfast buffet (to cut back on food waste) boasting homegrown or local ingredients, great eco credentials and super-friendly staff. Its 12 bedrooms – spacious, comfortable, perhaps not the height of chic – are spread over two levels, with a choice of direct garden access or better views. There’s also a separate two-bedroom apartment, perfect for families wanting extra independence for a few days. A really great find. Highs The big, sunny pool deck is a wonderful place to laze and graze, or to refresh after sweaty sightseeing Kids will love it here: not just the pool, but also the generous staff and most rooms can fit an extra bed It’s family-run, and it shows: owner Vangelis and his staff greet returning guests like old friends We loved having a secluded hilltop bolthole to escape to, after the (relative) crowds of Nafplio and Mycenae Great value, too Lows It’s perched at the top of some steep narrow lanes, well signed but fiddly They no longer serve lunch and dinner, but there's an all-day snack menu, and no shortage of eateries in nearby Nafplio We found the corridors rather echoey The bedrooms and bathrooms are on the functional side" - Michael Cullen

We loved our stay here and can not wait to come back. The setting is beautiful. Pool incredibly inviting. Everything is very clean. The staff helpful and friendly. The breakfast delicious. It was great to explore and come back to this little oasis. We loved it and highly recommend.

the hotel is located just 10minutes from Nafplion city's center. Yet, is in an ideal location for those seeking a retreat to have some rest, enjoy the mountainous view and taste some local great food. Totally recommend the place. gives you peace and quite in close distance from the busy Nafplion. Rooms are spacious. However they need a small renovation. Didn't bothered me at all. I would visit it again!

Stunning views but hotel was sterile and unfriendly. Our room was accessible for the disabled (we were warned) and the whole atmosphere and environment was that of a sanatorium. Lots of "do not" instructions around the pool (no shallow end). Very poor breakfast - stale bread, wet coffee. Nafpion is a lovely town - try to stay closer. We left early after just one night.

Small hotel, with only 12 rooms. |Incredibly friendly staff, offering to make a small meal when we arrived late in the evening.||The hotel is very private, the only sound you’ll hear are the crickets. The warm athmosphere makes you feel you have the place all to yourselves.||Amazing pool, open from 9am untill 7pm. ||Breakfast is served at your table- all very fresh.||Close to Nafplio, but we also recommend to have at least one meal in the small village!

Second time visiting. Staff are exceptional. Beautiful view. Nice breakfast included. Pool closes at 7:00 pm which is quite inconvenient after a long hot day. Room showers are awkwardly arranged. Signage up the winding dirt road is not great.

A Hidden Gem with Heart! Wow! What an absolute find this place was! From the moment we arrived, even though it was a last-minute booking and quite late, we were met with the most wonderful and welcoming staff who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. They truly understood the meaning of hospitality, kindly accommodating all our comfort requests, including the incredibly thoughtful gesture of extending our access to the swimming pool. After a long journey, that dip was pure bliss! And let's talk about the setting – simply breathtaking! The views of the surrounding hills are magnificent, creating a serene and picturesque backdrop that you could stare at for hours. The swimming pool is inviting and well-maintained, perfect for a refreshing break. Inside, the rooms are a dream: modernly furnished, clean, and incredibly comfortable, providing the perfect sanctuary after a day of exploring. A Little Tip for Future Travelers: While this place is a slice of paradise, I highly recommend asking the owners for specific directions before you set off. My navigation tried to play hide-and-seek, and trust me, you won't want to miss a moment of this beautiful spot trying to find it! To the Owners: Your dedication to guest comfort truly shines through. Thank you for creating such a welcoming and beautiful haven. Perhaps a small note on your booking confirmation with a recommended navigation route or landmark pointers could be helpful for future guests. It would just make that first arrival even smoother! Efharisto poli for an unforgettable stay!

This was a hotel that grew on us. We arrived in blistering heat in a bad mood after smashing a mobile phone and were dismayed to find slightly weak in our room and that the aircon wasn't on in reception which made it hard to search for a repair shop when the heat was stifling. However. The staff could not have been more helpful. They put the aircon on at our request and helped us find a phone shop in Nafplio. We ordered a snack from the all-day offerings which was delicious. We had arrived early and they made an effort to get the room ready before it was due. ||We paid for a superior room which I would highly recommend. Room 16 is on the upper floor at the end of the corridor and has a corner position with very large balcony offering breathtaking view of the hills and out to sea. Stunning. Aircon in the room worked well and the bed was very comfy. Blissful silence at night. You need a car, or be prepared to pay 15 euros (Juy 2025 prices) each way for a (very good) taxi service into Nafplio. The tavernas in the local village are charming and offer excellent value if you want a quieter evening one day.| |Pool area is lovely. I would have liked to be able to swim earlier than 9 am but can see this is done to prevent noisy guests disturbing others as some rooms are very close to the pool. ||Breakfast was served on the terrace in the shade to enjoy the stunning views. We had a room only rate but enjoyed the set menu approach which was 15 euros for fresh orange, unlimited tea or coffee, eggs, Greek yoghurt etc and a variety of other options, all cooked to order.||The service here was outstanding, especially from Giorgia on reception who went out of her way to assist. It's a small hotel in an amazing hilltop position so don't stay here if you want nightlife on the doorstep or don't drive. Come for stunning views, blissful peace, comfy beds, a refreshing pool and lovely staff.||Food past 7 pm would be fantastic but, again, I can see why they don't offer this as the place is small. All in all, a lovely stay and I would recommend as an oasis of calm away from the hustle and bustle of Nafplio. Village tavernas great too.

Great hotel with homemade lemonade offered upon arrival which was welcomed after such a long journey and with the heat. The rooms were spacious and clean with a very comfortable bed and a good bathroom. We only spent one night there and the breakfast in the morning was great, 5 courses!!
