First time here and I was impressed with Pesca. Great service, everyone was super friendly and attentive. The food was deliciously packed with real Peruvian flavors. I was glad to have huancaína served as a dip for my appetizers 💛💛💛. As an entree I had Seafood Parihuela which was perfect! And then I also tried the Cod, also a great choice. I highly recommend Pesca! Can’t wait to go back

Mia and I were in New Canaan today, and decided to have lunch at Pesca Peruvian Bistro. It was a lovely lunch. Wilson welcomed us into the restaurant and provided great service! We both had the Express Lunch option including two courses. Mia had the spicy pork empanada and the grilled chicken a lo pobre. She loved it, and was thrilled with the sweet plantains! I had the mushroom and kale empanada and the spinach and grilled shrimp salad. We were thrilled and can't wait to visit again when we're back in the area!

Google
Nicely curated restaurant with a large outdoor dining area. The menu is enticing but the food is very bland. The paella was tasteless and had very little seafood and chorizo. The walnut dressed salad was also bland. The cocktails and the service however is very good. We went on a Saturday night and the place was empty.

Stopped in for a bite after an evening visit to Grace Farms. Friendly welcome although the place was 95% empty on a cold winter night. We both had the hearty Peruvian chicken soup, quite salty but good for a winter night. I had the salmon burger, and my husband had the beef burger, he liked his more than I liked mine. Prices are kind of high, but it is a wealthy community. The bread was delicious.

My review is based on takeout. Was in town and wanted to check this place out. The restaurant is very clean! It's beautiful and the staff were very friendly. I ordered the spicy pork and pineapple empanadas- I personally didn't enjoy them. I didn't find them spicy, and I did not see or taste any pineapple. They were cooked perfectly.  Would definitely try another flavor next time. Also ordered the Lomo Saltado - sauteed sliced beef, onions, peppers, fresh tomatoes, scallions, home fries, and white rice with choclo. I asked for the French fries to be separate, and they were kind enough to do so. They were so good! Not your average French fry. Definitely house made and really good flavor. The steak was delicious! Loved that they gave a side of juice to add to the fries and meat. The vegetables added a nice and fresh touch. Would definitely love to come and eat in the restaurant.

We went here for a late lunch after touring Glasshouse. The service was great, patio perfectly shaded and the dishes we ordered were 🤌🏼 yummy 🤤. We started with guacamole and plantain chips - portion was a bit small. Then two of us got flatiron steaks; I got the Parmesan-crusted cod which I think was the best dish on the table. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Google
Top Quality Authentic Peruvian Food! Super flavorful & cooked to perfection. I love the savory flavors one gets with just one bite! I highly recommend this Peruvian Restaurant. Prices are super reasonable & not expensive at all. People who are saying it’s expensive clearly don’t eat at high end restaurants because this is nothing compared to an Italian or French restaurant. The staff here are super friendly. When they’re under staffed the food may take a little while but I come here for amazing food served properly not fast.

I’m convinced most of the positive reviews here are fake. Food: mediocre at best, prepared lazily. Worst ceviche I’ve ever had (salmon meat had gray spinal cuts in it; the salmon was cut into chunks of different sizes, and there was SO much of it. Brisket was again, random cuts of meat, some very dry and tough, and some tender. Steak was over cooked, dry, and tough. Everything was pretty bland and very salty. Not representative of good Peruvian food, which is a favorite of mine. Service: the people were nice, but they were incredibly slow and indifferent. Nobody asked how the food was (I suspect they knew) and nobody asked if we wanted anything different. Atmosphere: this place looks great and has fun interior: gives off young, beach, fun. Weird that they play jazz/classical covers of songs, it makes the place feel very unnecessarily formal. I think they could figure out an identity (fun, formal, casual), and edit the menu to match. Pesca cuts too many corners, and you notice it. Bad restaurant, and bad representation of “Peruvian” cuisine.

Yelp
We wanted to try something a little bit different and I was so glad we did. The restaurant is definitely a hidden gem. If you walk in from the main door; you will have to go down a set of stairs to get to the dining area. They have a large full bar/dining area as well as an outdoor and indoor dining area. As soon as we got I. We were able to pick the table we wanted. The service was quick and efficient. For starters we had the pork belly sliders which were delicious. My girlfriend had the crispy skin while I did not. For our meal I had the pork Osso Bucco and my girlfriend had the arroz con pato (rice with duck). Both of our meals were cooked perfectly. It was so packed with flavor and the portions were rather large, enough for lunch the next day. For dessert we had the flan which was ok. We definitely enjoyed our dining experience and will go back to try other items on the menu.

Yelp
The food at Pesca was delicious! We started off with guacamole that came with plantain chips and a shrimp dish I can't remember the name of. The guac was fresh and the shrimp was in this super tasty broth. We then got the lomo saltado, seco de carne and Paella De Mariscos. I only tried the lomo saltado and seco de carne but wow did they not disappoint. Both dishes were super flavorful but I think I liked the seco de carne more as it had a richer deeper flavor than the lomo saltado. I also have to say that the peppers in the lomo saltado threw me off a little as it was something I'm not used to seeing in that particular dish. The ambiance of the restaurant was hard to judge as it was my group of 3 and 2 other tables of 2 during the day time. It was definitely quiet (haha) but the aesthetics were pretty normal. Didn't seem dirty or stuffy but had more of a fresh clean feel. Location is a little strange being right when you walk through the front door you need to walk down a flight of stairs to the restaurant but not much of a bother. Staff was nice and well informed on the dishes and what was inside of them. My bf is allergic to dairy so it was great that the waiter knew which dishes did and didn't have dairy in them. Overall was a very pleasant experience and would definitely come back.

Yelp
Absolutely magnificent experience. The owner was over the top friendly and sincere. The outside seating was comfortable and pleasant. The presentation of all dishes was equal to any 5 star NYC restaurant. .....and the food was fresh and absolutely superb. Lots of different spices that went perfectly with all dishes. We started with two different empanadas that were each cooked perfectly and delicious. We had shrimp skewers, duck and yellowfin tuna entrees. All were equally to NYC 5 star restaurants as far as taste and presentation goes. This is must go restaurant and one we will most definitely return to. Oh, and the prices were extremely reasonable as well. A 5 star experience all the way.

Yelp
First time to Pesca Peruvian Bistro in the late afternoon. I appreciated the quiet environment and the delicious seafood

Yelp
absolutely fantastic. i've been wanting to come here for a long time, came here tonight with my wife and our younger son. great pisco sour to start and we had their baked oysters to start, delicious. we had quinoa crusted tuna which was cooked perfect medium rare, beautiful presentation delicious sauce and perfectly cooked sweet potatoes. our son had the lomo saltado which was awesome. great place. the manager is from ecuador, chef is peruvian, setting is very nice too. absolutely love this place. my only quibble is that the flame presentation on the oysters creates an unappetizing smell - it's like they're using sterno, some lighter fluid that burns for a lot longer than a liquor and smells like nail polish which is very unappetizing. we took the oysters off that plate and then asked the waiters to take the flaming plate away.

Yelp
It was very hard to find. We must have passed it 3 times before we spotted it. Parking is tough. But we eventually found a spot. The servers were very friendly and knowledgeable. I was a little bummed that something I saw on the online menu was not available anymore. Especially since it was my birthday dinner with my friends. I settled for chaufa de pollo (i asked for no pork) Our food was very good. I would go back in the area. My friends loved trying something new.

Yelp
We were seated almost immediately after we arrived. Our waiter was super knowledgeable especially about ingredients in each of our orders given that we had a couple of allergies at our party of 3. The food is super delicious. Very well seasoned. The ceviche was especially fresh and light. I definitely recommend. The bathrooms are ADA and family accommodating. If you have a stroller or wheelchair, the downstairs entrance is preferable as the other entrance has stairs.

Yelp
What a lovely place . It's like a hidden gem where you need to go down the stairs and you find this beautiful restaurant. It's vary spacious indoors with also a nice seating area outdoors as well. The color scheme, decoration is lovely! Our waiter was very nice. The menu was labeled with what can contain Gluten, Dairy, Shellfish or Nuts. We didn't start with any apps because we wanted to make room for the main dish to come. I wasn't sure if they served bread or Peruvian maíz before hand while waiting for the food.. but I guess not because none was served. We were hoping since the toasted corn is the best to have while waiting ! I ordered Flat Iron A Lo Pobre which tasted very good. Basically has a bit of everything and you can't go wrong with it. The steak was tender and seasoned well. Los plátanos were perfect. Nice and sweet! My dad ordered the Parihuela Soup which had a nice variety of seafood and side of pita bread to dip it into. It was lunch time and there was another family dining in besides us but we heard wonderful things of and it was highly recommended! Everything was delicious and I'd recommend it as well!

Yelp
This place was so good! Wilson was our everything lol. My best friend and I went out for lunch this was a great choice for lunch. We ordered camarones Al ajillo, mashed potatoes, rice and beans , maduros, mussels, spinach and broccoli rabe , all great! Dessert , tres leches of course and crème brûlée . We were very pleased with the service , food, and ambiance here. We had the entire place to ourselves which was great . We will def be returning.

Yelp
Warm fireplace, perfectly crispy thick cut French fries, light and fluffy inside. Cold balanced cocktails, acidic and spicy ceviche with fresh seafood. Tender char grilled octopus with chorizo and peppers. Moist roasted chicken with deeply delicious reduction. Also Chaufa, cold beer, smiles. Would have been 5.0 if bread was perfect...will return !

Jinli N.

Yelp
Peruvian food is delicious, and the sauce that comes with the bread before the meal is amazing. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
Love this place! What a refreshing find in a town full of over priced mediocrity. Who new you could find amazing food at a decent price in NC

Yelp
Casual dining experience with good food and excellent service. Reasonable pricing. Highly recommend the steamed mussels and burgers.

Yelp
Pesca is an outstanding restaurant with authentic Peruvian food plus gracious service. Our group of 5 had many great dishes: the most outstanding for me was QUINOA CRUSTED YELLOW FIN TUNA with roasted sweet potato, sauteed spinach, white shrimp spring roll, Capón street, soy vinaigrette. A generous portion of perfect tuna was enhanced by the crunch quinoa crust and the flavors of the accompanying vegetable and their sauce. The ceviches were great, but the Ceviche Quinoa Tarter, while generous amounts of exquisite tuna, needed some lime juice (which we finally requested) to spice up its great natural flavors. Everyone loved their individual dishes, especially the spicier salmon and shrimp ceviche and the other main dishes and soup. Pisco sours were authentic and excellent, but the flan was disappointingly bland and perhaps too firm, not custardy. The ambiance is quite pleasant and casual and the service was excellent. We highly recommend this basement find and look forward to an early return..

Yelp
Slower service but great food and nice waitstaff. Sometimes good food just takes a little longer.

Sophia M.

Yelp
Loved this place but none of the dishes taste the same. The salmon is bad now and the last burger I ordered was served on an English muffin and soaking wet. I bet the chef changed and it really is a shame because it was soooo good.

Yelp
Food was delicious, service was excellent, lovely ambiance, very good value. We were a table of 10 and it was a perfect place for a large group. They even provided separate checks with ease. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
Went Saturday night, this place is a hidden gem. Staff is so attentive and the food is amazing. Drinks are delicious, we got the Paloma's and they were fantastic.

Yelp
Had a delicious dinner at Pesca (again). The food is excellent (had quinoa crusted tuna), and the service is great and friendly too. Go!!

Yelp
very disappointed, had a sea food fried rice- rice was not well cooked and only have 3 shrimp, 2 very small scallops, very tinny calamari like 2 I found. also my wife had the cod a lo macho and was very salty with uncooked white rice and salty veggies. nice place but the food sucks this time.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant had a nice casual vibe to it. Staffers were friendly. Enjoyed patio seating. My mojitos were just right. I was with a party of 5 and we ordered a few appetizers -- everything was outstanding. The Boliyucas (crispy fried stuffed yucca fritters with manchego cheese and Ocopa sauce and Huancaina) were excellent--a bit smaller than a donut hole but a warm, savory treat. Next time I know to get more than one order as it seemed everyone at the table wanted a few more. For my entree I had a salmon burger. No dry puck here. Deliciously tender salmon patty topped with flavorful guacamole. Brioche bun elevates the dish. Empanadas $12.00 Fried Calamari $17.00 Boliyucas $10.00 Inca Astek Ceviche $22.00 Salmon Burger $18.00 Lomo Saltado $25.00 Ceviche Nikkei $22.00 Pesquero $22.00

Mark W.

Yelp
One of the best cod meals I have enjoyed in a very long time! The meal was delicious. Great balance of flavors and lovely and succulent cod. Will come back!

Kathy P.

Yelp
The food was fabulous. We especially love their ceviche. Thier specialty Creme Brulee with their Peruvian twist is magnificent. Service is great. People are super friendly and helpful. We have been many times and will continue to return. It is a real gem! I especially like it in warm weather when you can sit outside on their patio.

Yelp
The food was delicious. From trying a burger to a milanesa to the tofu lomo saltado. Each of us really enjoyed our meals! I found two things odd: 1) We originally wanted to try Pesca because we were craving Jalea (Peruvian fried seafood dish). When I didn't see it on the menu, I asked our server if they had it and she said she didn't know of a dish called Jalea. I thought that was odd since I've never been to a Peruvian restaurant that didn't have it. 2) Our bill included a "temporary inflation surcharge" of 5%. Is this isolated to Connecticut? It was my first time seeing this ever on a bill. Ambiance and service, OK. The four stars are mainly for the food. At the end of the day that's what mostly matters, right? Food was great. Pricey, yes but good.
google avatar

J R C.

Yelp
Tired of the same old "American" menu? Enjoy sitting outside when the weather is nice? Food is legit Peruvian, but who cares if it is good? Back patio with some ceviche and a cocktail is a nice way to end the day. Service is on point, noise level is good for conversation; Pesca is definitely a place that is on my New Canaan rotation!

Yelp
My husband and I visited Pesca on a Friday date night. While there is not a lot of on-street parking, there is a lot down the side street with ample spaces. It was a lovely crowd with 6 women celebrating a friend's birthday, some families there, a few couples ~ the restaurant was probably 3/4 full. (I have to admit I was a little concerned when, right next to the door to the restaurant, was a sign asking parents to mind their unruly children...but everyone behaved while we were there ) We sat at the bar and had great service. I got the pisco sour that was as delicious as it was beautiful. I also had a cusquena that had a lot of flavor and was a great compliment to my dinner. We took the bartender's recommendations & we were not disappointed. We started with a muscle appetizer whose light cream broth with the most delicious soft pieces of garlic I scooped up with my spoon like a soup. I had the ceviche that had a side order of salty chips that were like the more delicious, more robust cousin of a regular chip. My husband had the cod in a light cream sauce and a side pyramid of rice. Highly recommend. Enjoy!

J J.

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant. Service can be slow but the owners kindness and enthusiasm for his customers makes up for it. It's a nice departure from the usual American Italian fare in town. Beautiful space with a big lovely bar area. It's great for big groups.
google avatar

Yelp
A friend and I came by for lunch one day while around the area. We couldn't find the entrance at first but then we did and realized we basically had the place to ourselves. We both ordered from the prix fixe lunch, had a side of tostones, a coke, a cocktail called dark and stormy and for dessert tres leches cake. Our server was Luis and he took great care of us. He saw we had a toddler with us and he was kind enough to accommodate with the food and seating so if anyone else did come in we didn't disturb them. It seems they included the tip on the bill so you only have to add an additional tip if you chose to. It's a cute little spot and I'm glad we were able to check it out.

Marsha J.

Yelp
I take Pilates next to this restaurant and assumed it was a take out place based on the neon open sign. Think nail salon! Anyway, saw some good reviews and decided to try. Loved it! From the fresh bread to start served with yummy green sauce and some kind of roasted corn, to the generous serving of seafood in the paella, we were so pleased. Also, the luscious sour was my autentico. Pisco sour.
google avatar

Stefanie W.

Yelp
I've heard mixed views on this place and it honestly exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed the food, the drinks, and the atmosphere. The outdoor dining area is bright, vibrant, and inviting and the service was quick and friendly! I love the little corn nuts, bread, and sauce they give as a complimentary starter. As for food, I got the grilled flat iron steak a lo pobre (angus beef, white rice, avocado, plantains, black beans, a fried egg, and chimichurri). This dish was amazing, the flavors worked so well together, steak was cooked perfectly, and it was so filling! My friend got the paella which had a great flavor and was loaded with seafood! This place is definitely a must-try if you want a great atmosphere and great flavors!

Eric T.

Yelp
Excellent burger - fries were different from any other place I've been. Wine by the glass was a perfect pairing, nice and tasty, robust.
google avatar

Hannah K.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Peruvian food so can't say how it compares to other Peruvian restaurants. My party got a few things that we each sampled and I didn't care for some dishes (like the empanadas) however I really liked the octopus appetizer and LOVED the paella. I would go back just for the paella. Service was good as well. Just be aware the restaurant is on the lower level of a building- I got lost looking for the entrance because it's one small door leading to a staircase and you can easily walk by and miss it! There is also a back door around the corner. Peruvian Paella
google avatar

Janet S.

Yelp
What a find! This was our first time there. I had a really good red sangria and my husband had the Cabernet. We shared the fried calamari as an appetizer. It was crispy and very tender. The sauce was tasty. My husband had tuna for his entree. He asked for rare and it was perfectly cooked. There were vegetables on the side which were great. I had the paella that had a great amount of seafood and rice. It was delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food and ambiance. Large menu with many good choices. Home made chicken soup is amazing and they have many great apps
google avatar

Beth C.

Yelp
Tonight, we ordered delivery from PPB using a third party app. All I can say is, I cannot wait to visit in person. We're still eating while I write this review, but I needed to spread the news. The octopus app is as amazing as everyone says. Octopus became one of the ubiquitous apps over the last several years. Many restaurants serve it, but few do it well. As an octopus lover, I actually developed ennui and gave up on ordering it for a bit. But PPB's octopus is tender and delicious. For a very reasonable price, you will receive a large tentacle with garnish rather than garnish with some tentacle clippings. I am also enjoying the ceviche that we ordered, and I want to try them all eventually. The seafood is fresh, and the flavors are bright. Pesca Peruvian Bistro is spectacular. Give it a go immediately!
google avatar

Chris E.

Yelp
Worst service ever picked up takeout and made me wait 25 minutes for food. Then the bag they gave me ripped because it wasn't packed right then Argued it was my fault.
google avatar

Carlos S.

Yelp
So many things went wrong, it's hard to pick out the biggest gaffe. Among them, I was done with my meal about ten minutes before my niece and sister got theirs. My father ordered the Chaufa and got the Paella instead. The Pisco sours tasted like something other than a Pisco sour. We ordered two of them and both showed up with different levels in the glasses. We asked for more bread and never got it. We asked for salt with the margaritas and got a small dab of salt across the entire rim. All in all, I don't recommend this place. Update: my brother's seco had a broken piece of plastic stick in it. Almost forgot about that bit.

Umed S.

Yelp
Can easily make into my top 10 Peruvian restaurants. I think the portions were a bit on the smaller side but service ambiance and the quality was remarkable.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Excellent fish and steak. Really creative and fresh ceviche. They also have a great outdoor patio in back and their service is good.
google avatar

Paulina Z.

Yelp
Highly recommend this place. My husband and I ordered the express lunches. We ordered the shrimp and crab cocktail, the ceviche, chicken saltado, and steamed mussels. Great value and the food was so, so delicious. My particular favorite was the chicken saltado but all the dishes were great and tasted very fresh. We sat outside, very far from anyone else, and felt incredibly safe the whole time. We definitely will come again!
google avatar

Kay W.

Yelp
Interesting fusion of Peruvian and Japanese. I didn't care for the bread pre-meal. But I could be ignorant and a little burnt taste is a thing with the sauce that accompanies it. Seafood stir fry is excellent. So much so I got up in the middle of the night and ate it in bed. Savage, I know. Paella sounds dope. Drinks were good. The best part was the staff. Everyone is lovely. Ask for Christopher, he's a doll!

Yelp
My experience at this restaurant was mixed so I am leaving 3 stars. First impressions start at the entryway. You are greeted by an eerie staircase and you're not sure whether to go up or down. The answer is down. I thought I was walking into a dungy basement, but I was very wrong. Upon entering the atmosphere was actually very nice. We waited at the concierge desk, but no one came so we went a little further in and got someone's attention to let them know we had a reservation. We were then seated. The waiter took our drink order right away and returned to take our food order a few minutes later. The waiter did not return after that. I had to hunt him down to ask for a dessert menu and the check. My wife and I finished our drinks, but the waiter never asked us if we wanted another drink. I also thought it was odd that he didn't tell the plate was hot. I touched it and burned myself. And it was VERY hot. I only touched it for a moment to see if it was hot and I still burned myself. The cod a la macho was very good. It came with some rice and broccoli, but the rice and broccoli were cold. I'm not sure if that was intentional but I was expecting it to be warm. I took the rice and broccoli home and had it for lunch the next day. It was good after I warmed it up in the microwave. I really enjoyed my dish and would order it again though the rice and broccoli being cold threw me off a little bit. My wife ordered chicken skewers. I tasted the chicken and thought it was very dry. I would not order the chicken again. I would come back to the restaurant because I really enjoyed the cod a la macho dish even though it was a little bit pricey. Hopefully the service will improve the next time we return. It seemed like they may have been short staffed. If the waiter had come back to check on us just once during our meal, I would have left a 4-star review.

Yelp
Apps were really good. Especially the mussels in their white wine and butter sauce. The aji is good, but not the greatest. Main dish was a disappoint, I ordered the steak medium and it came out blue, essentially still mooing. The Chaufa was a 3/5 but had a unique twist of flavor that varies from other Peruvian places that aren't as expensive.

Yelp
I was here in August, when the virus wasn't so bad and I was tempted to dine out on the lovely patio as others were.. But I didn't. Although I hope this place sticks around because I am looking forward to dining and enjoying cold drink on that lovely escape-feeling patio next summer! They didn't pick up the phone all day to order so I went there to order in person. The place was pretty empty but my pick up order took 90 minutes. That is no joke. And over 90 minutes when you are with a toddler waiting feels like 900. But I won't knock the bad service because hey, we all have bad days. The good thing is the food was actually worth the wait. And nothing in New Canaan is so good that it is worth that wait. But the lunch specials were very delicious! Worth a visit.

Yelp
really delicious lomo saltado and churros!! the homemade churros are seriously some of the best i've ever had. the express lunch is such a good deal and the service was great

Tom S.

Yelp
We were looking forward to a nice birthday lunch. We were the first to arrive at 12:20 PM. I took 30 minutes for the waitress to take our appetizer order. And then it took two hours (2-20pm) Before our food came out. Other customers received their main entree and had paid the bill and left. Then waitress never came to even fill our water a single time or ask if he wanted more drinks. I had to request that we receive a discount because of the unacceptable delay, and she only removed three drinks. I fully understand that restaurants are struggling with low staff but there should have at least been some kind of apology or accommodation for the horrendously lax service. Not to mention that we were the first customers in the restaurant so there was no excuse for not being attentive. Needless to say we will not be returning to this restaurant. Update: to add insult to injury, both my son and I got food poisoning from this restaurant. I don't know if it was the salad or the chicken but we both had a horrible night and today it feels like a truck drove through our digestive track.

Yelp
Find this hidden gem and go! We had a spectacular meal here. The kids have been telling us about this place for a while. So happy we got to go and can't wait to go back. Service top notch. The owners so friendly. Ambiance 12 out of 10. I loved the atmosphere. Neat casual. A feel of the ocean. You can tell much thought was put into everything when designing. From the floors to the walls to the quality of the glasses and plates. Even little details like the menu clipboards and perfectly pressed napkins. It really is beautiful, inside and outside on the back patio. Can't wait for warmer weather to dine out back. A true hidden gem. And I say hidden because it's downstairs off of the Main Street. There is an elevator available a few doors down past their main entrance, which was great since we had a baby stroller. It's worth looking for. I wish I had another spicy margarita right now! The food is some of the best I've ever had. We ordered an assortment of appetizers to share. I'd order every one if them again. The main courses so good we can't wait to go back. We didn't have dessert, because we were just too full. Next time!

Yelp
Another fabulous meal at Pesca. The food is incredibly delicious and so creative. The shrimp and salmon ceviche is absolutely amazing. We were a party of 4 and each one of us loved our meals and the presentation was lovely. The waitstaff is very friendly, attentive and personable yet also extremely professional - they don't miss a thing. Reasonably priced as well. Truly a gem in New Canaan. We can't wait to go back.
