Pest-Buda Bistro

I came here on the recommendation of a friend, but I didn't particularly enjoy the place. There was very little meat in the goulash (barely a small piece). When it came time to pay the bill, the server refused to split the bill between my friend and me (even though this is standard practice in any normal restaurant). I wouldn't necessarily recommend this place; the service is basic and the value for money is average. However, the location is perfect for a bite to eat during a stroll around the bastion.

We loved the food and all staff here. They were super kind. The portion sizes are normal given being on Michelin list at some point. The only negative part is charging sauces, even 1 euro looks a bit strange at this level.

We stayed in the castle district just before Christmas and needed a place for breakfast. Pest-Buda Bistro was absolutely perfect. The menu has an English side and though it is relatively small, they have everything from which even the pickiest eaters can find something. My wife had the sunny side up eggs and they were cooked to perfection. I had the omelette with three toppings again absolutely perfect. There was no wait either day I was here. It is quaint and pleasant inside also. I great place to just warm up with a nice coffee and a friend. Our server Csaba was gracious and very nice. Love this place.

Delicious restaurant: goulash soup was so tasty, excellent! Chicken paprishka, not spicy, just enjoy the creamy sauce with paprika. Chickenalmost melts in the mouth. I appreciated having health side dishes. Very lovely place, so cozy.

I live in Miami, USA. Travel all over Europe and beyond. If you are a solo traveler, I don’t recommend this restaurant. Never being bounced this way. I actually congratulate attendant as he was honest and he said “ we only have table for four” and he pointed me out to other restaurant in the area. From business point of view more people, more money. I would do the same if I had a restaurant 😅. A couple after me were allowed to go in. I went to Pierrot restaurant down the street and left my money there. I have a fast metabolism so I eat like for two people. It is what it is. It was around 2 pm. Good luck solo travelers.

Lovely traditional meal. Highly recommend the Goulash Soup and Chicken Paprika Pancake. Great wine list and awesome homemade bread. Very nice atmosphere and service.

Great food, kind staff, beautiful and cozy place! If you are visiting Matthias Church, this is an excellent stop not too close to the crowds but still incredibly close to everything. As always, prioritize local cuisine! Try the best they have to offer! If you are not willing to experience this fundamental part of a country’s culture, don’t worry, they have plenty of options for unadventurous guests! I was not very hungry and they suggested the classic fish soup, to which I added a salad and a side of their delicious homemade bread! Enjoy this food, place, and atmosphere!

Beautiful meal. Excellent service. Dani yourself and the staff are amazing. Setting and location out off this world. One off the best meals we’ve ever had
