Pest-Buda Bistro

While we didn’t stay at the hotel, we enjoyed a wonderful evening meal at the restaurant. We were seated promptly and menus were provided right away. We asked our server for advice about which foods and drinks represented Hungarian cuisine best. We loved the goulash stew and the cucumber salad with sour cream. Both were delicious and paired well with the local wine and beer he had suggested. The service was friendly and attentive and the cost very reasonable. I recommend this restaurant for a meal with a local and friendly feel.

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. It was peaceful and clean, tucked away from the crowds—just the kind of atmosphere I was looking for. I truly enjoyed a traditional Hungarian dessert, savoring each bite while listening to the distant hum of the city. It’s one of the few truly positive memories I have from my time in Hungary. A lunch time meal. Two mature adults on holiday. we had the Breaded fried chicken and the paprika chicken. Bearded chicken was fab. Chips were good...Paprika chicken maybe not so good if I was being picky. Stella beer was great as was the local wine..staff were excellent..cost was a very reasonable just over €70. Just to finally add I very very rarely give a 5 star

Lovely, historic, bistro in the heart of Budapest's Castle District. The service can be rather "American": a little overpowering, but friendly and helpful to a fault. The food is flawless, and fairly priced, all considered!

We stopped by for a snack and a drink after exploring the Buda Castle area. We received a very warm welcome and were seated right away. The wait staff were all really friendly and attentive. We ordered a large bottle of water, which came with lemon slices and ice—refreshing! The beer and wine were enjoyable. The Hungarian Bistro Plate for two was exactly what we needed. It was served cold and included a variety of meats, spreads, pickles, and bread—all delicious. The restaurant was nice and clean, including the bathrooms. I’d definitely recommend stopping in for a meal if you’re nearby!

A very nice restaurant, friendly staff and good food. I had an excellent fish soup with delicious bread. It’s true that they add additional amount on the bill for the service fee and then ask if you want to leave a tip (because the service fee is apparantly not for the waiters). But it’s a common practise elsewhere as well. So be aware of it. Notwithstanding, we had a lovely evening and did leave a tip. 😉

Loved our experience here! We ate here twice during our stay in Budapest because the food was so good and authentically Hungarian. The chicken paprikash, stuffed peppers, pasta, and stuffed cabbage were all phenomenal, the staff was friendly, and the service was excellent. I’d recommend this place to anyone visiting Budapest!! Michelin stars well-deserved!
