Pestana Amsterdam Riverside

What a lovely experience we had at this hotel. The staff was adorable, very kind and always helpful. The amenities are great (very spacious rooms), so is the location, and the fact that it’s a charming renovated historic building creates a sumptuous atmosphere. Could not rate it any better. Great value for money.

Pestana Amsterdam Riverside is a truly stunning hotel — the architecture and facilities are iconic! The rooms are very cozy and comfortable, and the overall conditions are excellent. This lovely hotel is located in the original Amsterdam Archival building on the Amstel river. It is in walking distance of the tram and many shops, markets and restaurants. The rooms are modern and luxurious. My room had a view of the river with a small balcony.and there was a large tub and dual showering the bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable and the linens were excellent. Housekeeping kept the room immaculate. The breakfast was excellent and I particularly liked the espresso/latte machine and healthy options for breakfast. The dining, bar area was lovely with a large courtyard available for nice days. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. I did not have time to visit the spa or pool, but by appearance it was lovely. It is only available to hotel guests.

We had a lovely stay, the lady who checked us in couldn't have been anymore accommodating. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was so nice, beds super comfy and the location was great. You can get to Dam central within 10 mins on the tram or around half hour walking. De pijp itself is a lovely neighbourhood and has plenty of things to see and do. Would definitely recommend 👌. Hotel was very clean and modern and staff was friendly and helpful. Bed was very comfortable and towels were high quality. Two negatives: room was very dark even when all available lights were on and there was only one trash can other than the covered one in the WC.

Wonderful, wonderful hotel. Our room was clean and spacious. The concierge was incredibly helpful, the food was great, the atmosphere was perfect. It has a swimming pool, a gym, a sauna and a steam room. You can rent bikes. The best part in my opinion is the hotel location. It’s away from mass tourism in a real neighborhood with actual people who live there. It is SO quiet at night, you forget you are in a major city. There’s direct access to all the main attractions via a quick tramway ride. You cant even get lost walking around because the hotel is in a building with a beautiful spire you can see from far away.

Awful Experience — Definitely Not a 4-Star Hotel I just came across pictures from our Amsterdam trip a couple of years ago and realized I never shared our experience at this hotel — and it definitely deserves a warning to others. While the hotel’s exterior and location were nice, the room itself was absolutely awful and far from what you’d expect from a 4-star property. The bed was made during our 3-night stay, but it was never properly done — messy and careless every single day. On the second morning, I noticed a blood stain on the sheet that had clearly been there before we arrived. The robe situation was just as bad — after using it to go to the pool, I left it on the floor expecting it to be replaced. Instead, housekeeping hung the same dirty robe back up, which I recognized immediately because it had a torn strap (as shown in the photo). The floor was disgusting — full of dust, crumbs, stains, and even food debris like chips and crackers. Walking barefoot was not an option. The sheets had holes, and overall, the room felt unclean and poorly maintained. For a hotel advertising itself as 4 stars, this was one of the worst stays I’ve ever had. Definitely would not recommend.

We stayed here for 3 nights - everything was perfect. The staff was very attentive, but not intrusive, the rooms were immaculately clean and, to my surprise for many hotels, quite big, with the perfect amount of storage space. Storage space is something I really care about while traveling and many hotels fail to provide enough storage space in their rooms, but not here. On top of that, there was a wide desk in the room, which made remote work comfortable. Even with enough storage space, a huge bed, a desk and a sofa, there was plenty of space around the bed on both sides. The spa is pretty basic, but it does the job (1 pool, 1 dry and 1 wet sauna). They gym is pretty small, but it does the job as well. I didn't try the food here, but the terrace is perfect to enjoy a drink. I definetely recommend this place, I think it's reasonably priced for what it offers. The location is also very good. I would stay here again.

Nice upper scale restaurant in Amsterdam, by the Amstel river a bit outside of the hustling and bustling city center. It is about a 15 min cab ride. It is kinda of a weird entry to the lobby as you have to go up two flights of stairs but that is normal in Amsterdam. The lobby is bright and airy. The restaurant is downstairs in the main building. They have multiple buildings and the one that we stayed at that has family suites is in the back. The rooms are modern and functional. Our room even has a microwave. Service is typically great. We had an issue our first night with our AC as the windows would not lock in place. They sent a repairman but he couldn't fix it. So the first night we barely slept. The best service so far has been from their Italian concierge Vincenzo who is very nice and knowledgeable. He has been in Amsterdam for 9 years and has good recommendations. We paid around $450 a night for a suite with 4 people. Parking is an extra 45 euros a night.

We stayed at this hotel during the back half of our trip to Amsterdam. I was looking for a hotel that provided a high quality stay, while being slightly removed from the hustle and bustle of the city center and Pestana Amsterdam Riverside fit the bill. We were impressed as soon as we walked into the building as the lobby is inviting and gorgeous and we were able to check-in to our room hours ahead of our advertised check-in time. The river view room was perfect! The room was spacious and the view was beautiful. The bed was even more comforatble than my one at home and the hotel offered options to have alternative pillow sytles delivered to the room to match personal preferences. With fewer food options in the direct vicinity (less than 1 min walk) we ended up ordering last night room service twice. The food was solid and showed up very quickly. On the first night, I had some technical difficulty with the app for ordering room service which resulted in me having to call in the food. To me this was no big deal, but the next evening the hotel sent up a bottle of sparkling wine and some dessert to apologize for the incovience. I was blown away and this really speaks to how the hotel takes care of its guests. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to check out the resturant or the spa, but I would be shocked if they we not also great!

Everything was 1st class from the minute we walked in the door. The first leg of our Viking River Cruise. Beautiful firm mattress. Great 1st sleep From travel time difference from USA. Beautiful breakfast with great variety of breakfast items. A nice boutique hotel, great service I would return again.

This is a gorgeous hotel I. The most ideal the location. The service is amazing and I love it so much I extended my stay.

It's about 50€ a night overpriced. Room quality, service and amenities do not line up with the rates charged.

Excellent hotel. Clean and comfortable. Nice rooms and amenities, but the staff is the best part. They are very accommodating and great people. Thank you Pestana staff for a great time.
