Pestana Amsterdam Riverside (Amsterdam, North Holland) 14 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The name tells you exactly what to expect: waterfront accommodations in Amsterdam from a Portuguese luxury-hotel chain. But the Pestana Amsterdam Riverside is rather more impressive than the sum of its parts. It’s housed in a pair of spectacular Neo-Renaissance buildings, once a town hall and archive — together considered a national historic monument — and two contemporary annexes. The grand lobby, with its coffered ceilings, soaring archways, and marble fixtures, feels like a museum." - Tablet Hotels

Beautiful old and new hotel outside the rings of Amsterdam. The staff is superb. The rooms, though, while well appointed, are very dark and - importantly, these days, lack charging ports for your devices. Great breakfast!

This lovely hotel is located in the original Amsterdam Archival building on the Amstel river. It is in walking distance of the tram and many shops, markets and restaurants. The rooms are modern and luxurious. My room had a view of the river with a small balcony.and there was a large tub and dual showering the bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable and the linens were excellent. Housekeeping kept the room immaculate. The breakfast was excellent and I particularly liked the espresso/latte machine and healthy options for breakfast. The dining, bar area was lovely with a large courtyard available for nice days. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. I did not have time to visit the spa or pool, but by appearance it was lovely. It is only available to hotel guests.

Wonderful, wonderful hotel. Our room was clean and spacious. The concierge was incredibly helpful, the food was great, the atmosphere was perfect. It has a swimming pool, a gym, a sauna and a steam room. You can rent bikes. The best part in my opinion is the hotel location. It’s away from mass tourism in a real neighborhood with actual people who live there. It is SO quiet at night, you forget you are in a major city. There’s direct access to all the main attractions via a quick tramway ride. You cant even get lost walking around because the hotel is in a building with a beautiful spire you can see from far away.

This is not a 5 star hotel, 4 is generous. 3 is realistic. Its a double tree on a good day. The good - it appears surface level clean, the AC in the room worked, service is slow but responsive The bad - the room smells of mildew due to there being no wall separating the shower from the rest of the room. This smell comes back whenever the fan isn’t running. On one occasion on entering the room for the evening our toilet paper was removed and not replaced for turn down. So we called the desk and waited 30 minutes for someone to bring a roll to us. The pillows are incredibly uncomfortable but that was handled after another 30 minutes wait for a replacement. The power for the entire building went out one night during our stay, which of course, brought back the mildew. A few days later a fire alarm went off jolting us from our morning sleep. The alert stated we should evacuate and avoid the elevator. We rushed, putting on cloths and heading out to see staff and guests half dressed staring at each other. Seeing it is a false alarm we went back to our rooms. Trying to get some rest for a long flight we were again awoken 10 minutes later after the alarm to not one but two additional loud speaker announcements that it was a false alarm. We abandoned all chance of getting more sleep. This place is a purgatory of sorts, not the worst, functional, middling, but do not expect any sort of 5 star stay.

We stayed here for 3 nights - everything was perfect. The staff was very attentive, but not intrusive, the rooms were immaculately clean and, to my surprise for many hotels, quite big, with the perfect amount of storage space. Storage space is something I really care about while traveling and many hotels fail to provide enough storage space in their rooms, but not here. On top of that, there was a wide desk in the room, which made remote work comfortable. Even with enough storage space, a huge bed, a desk and a sofa, there was plenty of space around the bed on both sides. The spa is pretty basic, but it does the job (1 pool, 1 dry and 1 wet sauna). They gym is pretty small, but it does the job as well. I didn't try the food here, but the terrace is perfect to enjoy a drink. I definetely recommend this place, I think it's reasonably priced for what it offers. The location is also very good. I would stay here again.

Hotel is located in one of the most pleasant locations in Amsterdam, De Pijp. Facilities are clean, hotel workers were welcoming, guests were empathic and always open for a good conversation. Breakfast is well presented and had a wide variety of yogurts and bread for distinct types of food tolerance and eating habits. The perk of finding a typical 'waffle' in the room was well received and very tasty. Spa & breakfast opening hours are wider than I have experienced in other hotels, allowing the guests to have a late breakfast and enjoying a late spa. Would recommend staying, in this calm located area, with plenty of options nearby, and fast access to city center.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and always ready to help in any way they could. The rooms were clean, well-equipped, and included everything you might need (even a microwave), which was a great bonus. Breakfast was lovely, with a wide variety of options to choose from. While the room service items were a bit pricey, that’s quite typical for hotel service. Overall, we absolutely loved everything about the hotel and will definitely book it again for our next trip!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Pestana Riverside Amsterdam. The hotel is very well maintained, and the rooms are well designed and comfortable. The staff was friendly and attentive. We had breakfast at the restaurant every morning and found the quality and the variety of breakfast selections amazing. We would come back for the breakfast alone. We also spent an enjoyable evening in the hotel bar following a canal cruise. The bartender, waiters and other guests made for a memorable night. Wonderful stay.
