I stayed at the Pestana Hotel for two nights in March 2016. I was in Room 1401, which was a corner room, with a nice 180 degree view, including buildings and the nearby hills covered with very photographic fog.|| ||The room had a queen bed, armchair, desk and TV, as well as useful items such as luggage rack, coffee maker, minibar, fridge, safe, iron and ironing board. The bathroom had a bath, shower, hairdryer, and makeup mirror. The shower had a strong water flow. The power sockets in the room take US plugs and three-point plugs.||||There was a power cut when I was there, with no electricity from the grid from 9am-6pm, but one elevator was working powered by a generator, I could still open the room door, and the toilet still flushed. ||||The main reason I chose this hotel was because of the view from the rooftop bar. I was not disappointed. As I didn’t want to go out in Caracas in the evenings, I stayed at the hotel and watched night fall from the rooftop bar. There is also a restaurant downstairs, which I will review separately. ||||The hotel is not particularly close to tourist sights, but this didn’t matter, because I went room by car instead of walking, because of the security situation.||||Caracas is a city that is suffering; that is obvious. Yet the Pestana Hotel feels like a normal hotel, and the staff do their best to compensate for things beyond their control, such as the power cuts. I’m glad I chose it and recommend it to anyone looking for a nice midrange hotel in Caracas.
