Pestana Equador - Ilhéu das Rolas

The island is luxurious and wild with quite and friendly people and nice beaches, geysers, turtles and Marco de Ecuador. However, the hotel is run down and badly managed. The food is horrible and monotonous: my partner got food poisoning and bacterial infection requiring antibiotics treatment. The pool had algae in it. The spa is really just a place to get a message by an unqualified local lady. The dive center is horribly expensive, has old equipment and no Instructor on site. Staff is not helpful - particularly if you do not speak Portuguese. This is not a 4* resort. It is worth going for the island but no more than 2-3 nights. We stayed 9 nights - we left early.

(2016) Pros: Nice staff. Great natural location. Spacious room. Great and large poll. Beautiful beaches. Guided trips to the island. Cons: Food was good, but room for improvement. Tap water shortage available with scheduled.

Location and island is beautiful but everything is just far too much expensive (250 eur/night) for the little quality offered. <br/>The food offer is very limited and rather basic/repetitive, often recycled . Often only one type of fish is available which is a shame given the large local offer. Almost no offer for vegetarians. Everything is always served in buffet, self-service, even when there are very few clients in the hotel...very little service quality and prices are just outrageous for value. Little wine choice, no cocktails offer, etc. Old and outdated. Everything is priced at European 5 starts hotel that is not at all the value of the hotel/service/products. People are very friendly but you feel somewhat robbed by the prices/quality offered.

The experience was great as well as the service. While here you can enjoy a relaxing stay by the pool and bar or explore the island for fanatastic beaches (or both). The food was excellent since most of it is local, fresh and daily made. It has many side activities like diving (through their diving center) where I could watch turtles underwater, fishing or boat trips and hikes around the island or even watch turtles younglings hatch and run for the sea! I had an excellent and relax stay while in here... 5*

This is a good resort, with nice bungalows with air conditioning. Good food, very kind staff. This is not a new resort, but the place is in the middle of the nature in a unique and beautiful small island. Prefect to relax and disconnect from the world (although they have good Wi-Fi).

I love this place.Beautiful island.I visited pestana Equador on a honeymoon and my famous room remains 203 from the 18th to 21st of December,2019.There is room for improvement more especially a need for a Gym and recreational facilities like a game house,movie house or better still a night club.The evenings are too quite with no entertainment except your TV in your room.Dinner time of 7:30 is too late right?? Nice Dinner and lunch setups.The staffs are very friendly and ever ready to serve.The tour guides should be trained well as some intend to exploit visitors.I had an encounter with one tour guide who took my wife and i for the island walk(Janq...J...)can't recall the full name.It took divine intervention.The boat ride around the island was wonderful as we came across caves created by the sea.I cannot forget my special time in the pool and at the beach. Wonderful place but the owners need to do more.Finally there should be security guards to stop the other inhabitants of the island from approaching the hotel guest as some of the people brought palmwine and other stuff to guest for sale. Despite these challenges i had a great stay in your wonderful facility.

Great location but the staff/service is pretty bad, especially getting to and from the island. I've traveled through lots of places, including many parts of Africa and this place really disappointed. The trip to the island is actually unsafe, with overloaded boats and broken safety equipment.

Old hotel. The pool is dirty and old , even if it's a huge one . No service : you have to wait a long time to get a pool towel. Expensive buffet : 42 euros, drinks not included
