The hotel is excellent. Our room was very good and in a great location overlooking the garden, pool and sea. The choice of restaurants was good with a variety of food to choose from. Overall, it was a very enjoyable trip. The only negative was there were only two "household" toasters, which were very slow operating.

The hotel has everything you need, pool, gum ,gardens ,sports Activity ( yoga was great) . The food was very good and a lot ( we had 2 meals per day at the hotel) rooms are big and facing the sea the majority! Really and amazing holiday in the hotel celebrating our honeymoon. The staff was Always very helpful and everyone put in an effort to make you feel great

Stayed for 10 nights to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and overall enjoyed our stay. The staff deserve special mention as they are all very friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious and clean, we had a lovely ocean view. Room cleaning was good but have never experienced such worn towels, some with holes! |The speciality ‘a la carte’ restaurants serve good quality, well prepared meals, again the staff are worthy of extra praise. The gardens and pool area are well maintained, there are plenty of sun beds and umbrellas, though the pool lining and some tiled areas are in need of refurbishment. The inside bar, reception and atrium are pleasant and comfortable, but expect only ‘ok’ evening entertainment (as with many hotels of this type!).|One of the things that could definitely do with improving is the buffet restaurant. The management are well aware of customer dissatisfaction in this area but seem disinclined to do anything. Eating breakfast on the terrace is a very pleasant experience but the hot food selection and quality are well below what should be expected. The, very average, hot food is served in a cramped and often very busy area, the food is allowed to get cold and isn’t replenished frequently enough. This is also true at evening meal time. There is an annoying tendency at dinner for staff to try to collect plates from your table even before you finish eating and certainly the moment your knife and fork hit the plate! We very soon opted to eat in the speciality restaurants every night. The hotel is in a nice location, about 50mins walk into Funchal. We found the local Bolt taxi service an exceptional service and low cost.

Beautiful hotel, with well maintained grounds. Pool was always clean, albeit chilly but that’s down to Mother Nature and the cloud cover. Beautiful looking out over the rocky cliffs to the sea below. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Kids club was great - kids were disappointed when we didn’t want them to go and spend time together. Barbara who was facilitating it was amazing. Breakfast was great and the buffet dinners we had were also fresh and tasty!

We've stayed before and always had a great experience. It is exceptional value for money whenever you stay there. The occasional time we have been short of money an stayed in an apartment we have always called in occasionally for a meal or a drink. |Wet booked a last-minute trip to the Grand with Jet2 to go yet again. The inland-facing room we booked was not so nice so we upgraded to enjoy the sea view.

The whole hotel needs an update, to be honest, it is in dire need of a refurbishment. The staff were lovely, but they couldn't make up for the hotel's shortcomings. I think the star standard of the hotel needs to be reviewed as it is by no means a 5* hotel but more of a 3*. This is my honest opinion and feedback.

After a long delay we arrived to a very welcoming reception and customer service, even a glass of Madeira wine too!|Half board gives you the opportunity to try all of the restaurants but you need to book, however we preferred the buffet. Excellent staff and service with a smile. Great location and a lovely walk by sea with all of beautful flowers. You can walk all the way into Funchal along this path if you want to. Otherwise a No.2 bus at the back of the hotel or a taxi.|Music most nights and even 2 Happy Hours, one at 5.30 to 6.30 and 9.30 to 10.30.|Outdoor pool and also an indoor Spa.|They even have several free classes every hour during the day of Yoga, Pilates etc.|We were there for a short time but it was really nice.

Excellent hotel, I had a lovely time visiting in June 2025. The food was delicious, breakfast specifically had an amazing spread for the buffet. The hotel being situated by the sea meant the views are amazing. The hotel itself was clean and staff very courteous and helpful!
