Pestana Porto A Brasileira (Porto, Norte) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Perhaps the most charming hotel in Porto, the Pestana Porto A Brasileira is housed in what was once the Cafetaria Portuense A Brasileira, which was the first café in Porto to serve coffee in a cup when it opened back in 1903. It still serves coffee in its new role as the hotel’s all-day dining cafe, now called Historical Café, A Brasileira, which thankfully has retained its early 20th century splendor including ornate columns, decorative moldings and arched windows. Elsewhere the hotel has had a more modern makeover, although the shades of burnt orange, burgundy and brushed gold that feature in the contemporary rooms nod to the historic rich wood and gilded décor in the cafeteria downstairs. There’s also a restaurant, A Brasileira, which serves a modern twist on Portuguese cuisine. Other facilities include a gym, and the hotel can also organize cultural experiences such as guided city tours, river cruises, and visits to nearby wineries." - Tablet Hotels

This hotel is ideally located at the heart of the city. All the staff including Rita, Luis were attentive and very helpful. The whole team could not do enough for you.|I would highly recommend this hotel.|The room on the top floor was clean, airy and bright and good value for the money. ||There is a little road noise but nothing to distracting. We did not use all of the amenities in the hotel but the restaurant and cafe are ideally located if you do not want to wander to far.

The hotel itself is beautiful and highly recommend - had a lovely stay for my birthday. Front desk is so helpful and great with planning days out! Their restaurant is super delicious and their staff Mafalda and Ana were super welcoming and so warm and inviting. I spent my birthday dinner there and it was amazing. Highly recommend to anyone who wants amazing food and a great experience!

I rarely write reviews, but the service I received from Eduardo at Café A Brasileira truly deserves recognition. From the moment I arrived, he welcomed me with genuine warmth and attention. He was patient, kind, and incredibly professional, anticipating everything I needed before I even had to ask. Eduardo made the whole experience feel special — the kind of service that turns a simple coffee break into a memorable moment. His friendliness and care added so much charm to the iconic atmosphere of the café. You can feel he genuinely loves what he does, and it shows in every interaction. If you are visiting Porto, I highly recommend stopping by Café A Brasileira and asking for Eduardo. Exceptional service like his is rare, and it made my visit unforgettable.

I was placed here by my company for three nights and, although the front desk staff was lovely, I will not return. I hate to complain, but this is a 5-star hotel and standards were closer to a 2-star. First of all, my company paid over 300€ a night and I was placed in the smallest and most basic of all their rooms, despite the price for that room being 134€ online. The bath towel I used was so thin and used that it literally ripped when I used it. For a 5-star hotel, there are no perks that a 3-star or even 2-star hotel wouldn’t have. When I stayed at the Pestana in Lisbon, there was turn-down service, and treats were placed in our room every day, from pastel de nata to ginja… the staff arranged tours for us and the breakfast service was fast and the buffet was extraordinary. At the Pestana A Brasileira, I ordered a coffee to my room and it cost me EIGHTEEN EUROS. There were no dedicated work areas, and the noise level at night, being directly across from the theatre, was intense… even with earplugs - and I was here on the off-season. There is also no view from the room. Finally, the housekeeper entered early in the morning, even though we had a do not disturb sign on the door. I was extremely disappointed. I give it two stars because the staff was genuine and kind, but the management must step up if this hotel wants to live up to its name and heavy price tag.

The service was outstanding. Our waiter Eduardo, y Paulo was incredibly attentive, polite, and always ready to help. He knew the menu well, offered great recommendations, and kept a pleasant attitude throughout the entire meal. He truly made the experience more enjoyable. Excellent service — he deserves full recognition!

Google
My walking tour guide, who was born and raised in Porto, recommended the cafe at this place over Cafe Majestic. So glad i came! Beautiful decor. Henrique was so friendly and great- he provided great service, explained the wines well, and let me try a wine that i ended up loving. Definitely recommend!

Google
Enjoyed two excellent dining experiences. An afternoon coffee and aperitif with a perfect Portuguese espresso - traditional, strong, and flavorful. Later, a Francesinha dinner. Beautiful flavor - I could taste the individual flavors of each meat, including a tender beef loin and tasty sausages, all topped with perfect amount of sauce. Brava to Rite, Ana, and Jorge for a nice dining experience.

Google
A really excellent hotel. Location ideal in the Historic centre. Rooms just lovely - the best pillow selection I've ever seen! Breakfast was A1 - beautiful foods, opulent surroundings and lovely staff. Attached cafe bar very mice for a civilized evening - special mention to Paulo and Gustavo, who gave time for a Port lesson. All round, a really enjoyable stay - no hesitation in recommending.

Yelp
Service was very sllllllowwww, but the mini coffee snack I had was excellent. The place was pretty and lucky to escape the torrential rain. Lovely environment and everyone seemed so kind.

Yelp
Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in December in a Deluxe Double room and it was wonderful! My family and I booked 3 separate Deluxe Double rooms. Hubby and I arrived first because we took an earlier train from Lisbon. Initially, the other two rooms were on the same floor and ours was on a separate floor so I asked if it was possible for us to at all be together on the same floor, if not all of the rooms could be next to each other. They ended up upgrading us to a really nice suite! It had a little terrace you could open up and a separate sitting area. Lucky for us! Not so lucky for the other two rooms. Though their rooms were nice too, just not as spacious. Here are some of the pros/cons of our stay: Pros: -Spacious and clean rooms -Nice public sitting area outside of the suite rooms, where we could meet up before heading out -Mini fridge with bottled water and Coca Cola -Each floor has a different theme, which I thought was really cool. You'll see a different scent-themed decor (and smell) for each. For example, one floor was coffee, another was chili, and another was star anise -Very reasonably prices. We booked through Hotels.com and paid maybe about €110 per night, including taxes -Great location! It's right in the center of Porto and most of the tourist attractions and good restaurants are 5-10 minute walk away -Huge bathroom with his and hers sinks and plenty of space underneath for your toiletries -Comfortable beds/pillows. Although it wasn't a true King size, more like two twins pushed together but I think that's just a European thing -Bath robes -Free welcome drink at their hotel bar (which you don't have to use on the same night as you check in if you're too tired) -They let us check in early at around 12:30 even though check-in is not until 2 or 3 Cons: -There is construction going on outside so it's a little bit more difficult (though not impossible) to get an Uber outside. We took an Uber from the Santa Apolonia train station. He couldn't drop us off right in front but it was still just around the corner, so it wasn't terrible even with our huge luggages Honestly, I can't really think of any cons other than that. Highly recommend Pestana Porto. Might be one of the best hotels I've stayed at in Europe!

Yelp
My view is of the restaurant only, didn't stay at the hotel. Very mediocre for the price yet I was getting too hungry. Had the shrimp salad with a glass of vinho verde. Waitstaff were rather slow yet cordial. Pass it by if you see it. Interior is lovely of an era from the past.

Yelp
This hotel is 3.5 starts property. The quality of amenities, rooms and service are nowhere near 5 stars. The beds are hard, and two twins moved together so not make a king! Everything is just cheap and no attention to detail. Towels are scratchy, bathroom has no ventilation, water temp fluctuates on its own, materials used in bathroom feel more motel than hotel. No ability of initiative to solve issues. Bed is hard, shelf is broken and they just say oh housekeeping is gone for the night and so is maintenance, hmmm really? Well perhaps front desk guy can show more initiative. No coffee maker in the room either.

Yelp
Great hotel, réception staff helped me with a difficult situation. Unbeknownst to me, I had scheduled my staff during one of the biggest festivals in Porto. Celebrating St João day. Streets are blocked surrounding the hotel. Luckily for me the reception worked with the police, so I could leave the hotel. The hotel has several restaurants ; one of which I tried. A Brasilera. Room was quiet, comfortable with a view of the street. One of the things that was so unique about the hotel was each floor had a scent. My floor was cinammon. Scent of cinammon wafted in the air, the picture in the room was of cinammon sticks. This hotel is centrally located. There are restaurants located within walking distance. I would recommend staying at this hotel.

Yelp
This hotel exceeded our expectations and if we return to Porto we are staying here again. We reserved a Deluxe room (thinking we wanted to stay on a high floor to avoid street noise) and due to our anniversary we were upgraded to a Master Suite room Here are the benefits: - Super comfortable beds (I tend to like firmer beds and our bed hit the spot) - Great spacious showers with great water pressure - Amazing staff here are some examples: 1. No parking on site but, unsolicited the bellman offered and went with me (in my car) to ensure I parked in the proper garage (as I do not speak Portugese). Who does that?? 2. Susanna the manager was eager to help me get my bearings and made wonderful suggestions as well booked a tour to Duoro for us last minute. Never once making me feel like I was imposing on her time and always in a genuine friendly manner. 3. Pedro, another Bellman, went WAY WAY above and beyond to assist my wife and I with a car rental issue we experienced. Caring at every moment that we were OK and doing whatever he could (reaching and speaking Portugese with the rental company, etc.) This young man was very impressive and treated us like he would his own family (at least the ones he likes :) - Very clean hotel and an awesome warm modern design/vibe. - Can't beat the location in Porto for access to everything. - Their buffet breakfast was extremely well done. Try to get yours included, it cost 18Euro each (so a bit on the pricey side) but well worth it. This hotel has only been open for 4 months and they are doing things the right way. I highly recommend anyone visiting Porto for pleasure or business to give this place a try, you will not be disappointed. Thank you Susanna and Pedro to showing us what Porto is all about!!

Yelp
We had lunch a la carte. Vegetable soup, cauliflower salad and a chicken salad. We were alone in the restaurant and the service was great. So was the food. They offered us bread with olive oil and specialty, flavored butters which is extra but great with the soup. Only one question - why is the soup yellow when it's mostly potatoes? Maybe Portuguese potatoes are yellow because the wait staff said they don't use saffron. Cost was reasonable - more than the fixed price menu but still good value in a nice ambiance in an upscale neighborhood and beautiful ambiance.
