Title: Extremely Poor Customer Service from Store Manager Margret
I recently visited this Petco location. unfortunately, I had a dreadful experience with the store manager, Margret.
On February 25,2025, I arrived at the store at 8:50 PM, well before the closing time. After browsing for a bit, I attempted to exchange a small, half-full bag of dog food that my dogs didn't like. A coworker had previously informed me that exchanges were allowed for this reason. The issue was not that I could not exchange the item, it was the way she handled it. A kind and friendly apology saying I'm so sorry I wish I could let you exchange this, but it's against store policy to exchange. (Even though I was told that if my dogs didn't like it, I could return.)
However, Margret refused the exchange in an extremely rude and disrespectful manner. When I expressed my disappointment, she suggested that I find a store with later hours, implying that it was an inconvenience for her to assist me before closing time.
To add insult to injury, when I asked for her name and informed her that I would be reporting her behavior, she responded with a sarcastic "thank you." She also made a snide comment about enjoying the free samples of the three dog cookies.
I left the store feeling disrespected and unvalued as a customer. The time of my visit, 8:50 PM, was clearly not an inconvenience, as evidenced by the timestamp on my car's clock when I departed: 9:02 PM. If Petco did not want to serve customers before 9 pm, they shouldn't have their store still open and close it early. It was clear that she had a bad attitude about having to work until 9 pm. I suggest Petco to get a nicer manager.
I hope that Petco will take my complaint seriously and address Margret's unacceptable behavior. As a loyal customer, I expect better treatment from store managers.
I will not return to this location but visit other petco's in the area.
