The motel is old and lacks maintenance, our room has paint peeling from the ceiling, stains on bin, bed head and light switches. The shower was filthy with mound and grime over tiles, it was an unpleasant stay in a dirty room. The 1960’s air conditioner was noisy and in ineffective. Only positive is motel is located close to shops and cafes, however noise from passing semi trailer can be quite loud

Rooms spotless, beds were made like a upper class motel. Manager was really helpful...and cute.

Stayed two nights here. The room is a bit dated but very spacious with comfortable bed, table and chairs, as well as a microwave. Good bathroom with plenty of space to put own toiletries. Shower gel and shampoo supplied. |The TV on the wall is a bit small for the size of the room and could be more centrally located in relation to the bed. |Good location in town, handy to everything. Very reasonably priced. |Only one small complaint…. the air conditioner was quite old and very noisy but effective in keeping the room warm. Overall a pleasant stay and would definitely stay here again.

Mould on shower tiles, lady (worker or owner not sure but was in office on arrival)was also rude talking to me with a cigarette hanging out her mouth smoke going into my face… when I was leaving… differently made us think twice about coming back||Grounds needed a good clean up |Weeds everywhere

I night stopped here on a motorcycle touring trip, Although right on the highway there was no road noise at all in the room. Room was clean and tidy, no breakfast or dinner served but only 1 min walk to nearest pub for dinner and cafe for breakfast. Supermarket and bottleshop across the road for general supplies. Would stay again.

This is the second time we have stayed at this motel. Whilst not the Ritz (and this was reflected in the price point) the room was clean, warm and represented good value for money. The location of the place is excellent, with a pub serving good meals adjoining the motel. Parking was undercover and the place was quiet- all points that make this place worth staying at.

3 Star motel for the budget-conscious traveller. Managers were friendly.

Location in the centre of town was excellent. Spoke to staff twice - very helpful. The room was a reasonable size. However, the room needed a thorough clean. Cobwebs and dead flies along the internal fly wires. Quilt cover and blanket from the cupboard were stained. Dust on the arms of the overhead fan. Ac is the old rattler style - had to turn it off due to it continually blowing dust. Externally the garden required attention, which would improve the general appearance, plus old carpet dumped opposite our room was not a good look. The room really required an "update".

Yelp
I have to admit, I stayed here purely because of the name as I am a Peter Allen fan. :) This Golden Chain, named after Tenterfield's biggest export - the late great cabaret singer Peter Allen - is on Rouse Street which is the road through Tenterfield. There are only 18 units but all have undercover parking. The rooms are well laid out and are clean and comfortable. While not super spacious, it is not cramped and there is room for everything and space to move around. The rooms are also double brick so you cannot hear anything once you close your door. Bathroom is smallish but there is still enough room and the water pressure is excellent. Beds are comfortable and they do have a room service breakfast if you are so inclined and it is cooked very well - you definitely will not go hungry! The owners - Paul and Maz - are so friendly and gave great advice on places to see and things to do in the area. The Peter Allen Motor Inn is a very short walk to cafes and restaurants and there is a Bi-Lo and Target Country right across the street. Also, when you check in, make sure you grab the wi-fi passwords! A great place to stay if you a travelling through the area.

Yelp
As Americans, we didn't recognize the name Peter Allen. What we did recognize and appreciate was the wonderful hosts of this inn. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and thank the good folks who run the Peter Allen for the tidy rooms and helpful hospitality.
