Peter Restaurant in the Imperial Hotel, Yurakucho: The view from the 23rd floor of the Imperial Hotels Peter restaurant in Ginza, Tokyo is panoramic. It's a combination of great food, fantastic views of the city and the Imperial Palace area, and attentive professional service. The best deal is the course menu which ranges from ¥4500-¥7700 which translates roughly into $39-$68 depending on how many appetizers you choose and which main course. We had the middle course which included two appetizers, an entree and dessert.
Started off with salad. The Peter salad was served with Japanese dressing which is a combination of soy sauce and grated turnip. Also came with quinoa assorted vegetables and seasonal persimmon fruit--I love persimmon! The Caesar salad was really good too-not too heavy on the anchovy, lightly dusted with Parmesan. The next entrée was breaded deep-fried turkey and I had to laugh! Tasted sort of like McDonald's chicken nuggets! Also had the yellowtail carpaccio, very fresh.
Next came the entrees--kirishima pork with buttery noodles and chunky mustard. The pork was soft, simply prepared and delicious. Dessert was sweet but not too sweet which is why I love Japanese confections. The black sesame panna cotta was creamy smooth and came with a ground sesame rice cake ( I wanted to buy these!) and a slice of cheese cake with a nut filled crust topped with berries and served with honey ice cream. Peter is one of those restaurants to visit when in Tokyo--a much needed respite from the crowds below. Just like Jules Verne in the Eiffel Tower in Paris ( but no where near as expensive!) it offers fabulous views in an upscale, peaceful setting and oh, the food is excellent too!
