On the Grid : Peter's Pour House

"Make your way to the end of the Water Street's cobblestones and you'll find Peter's, a Baltimore institution since 1974. The no-frills watering hole offers a break from the downtown tourist stops and is just steps from the Inner Harbor. The bar has a loyal, local following who come often for lunch or to enjoy the patio. Plus, Peter's is famously affordable--their $5, 32-ounce pours of beer might be the best deal in town." - Exit10

This is the spot you go when you're done with all the tourist BS. You can tell they have a regular/local crowd. Everyone was friendly and the jukebox was great. The Boys Are Back In Town is my favorite song to play. Sherry was our bartender and she was awesome. The french fries are the great battered kind. Order a side of cheese. It comes in a soup cup 👌 32oz Natty Bo special is great as well. If I lived in the area I too would be a regular.

Google
Only came for a beer and stayed for four. Good selection of draught beers, just like being at home (UK) This bar is more British pub than some actual British pubs Highly recommend

Google
My family and I ate at Peter’s 3x on our Baltimore trip and it just got better every time. The food was delicious, in particular the smash burger. It’s located down an alley but don’t let that deter you… of all the local bars we saw Peter’s was by far the busiest. Also, shoutout to the girl who seemed to be running the whole restaurant by herself- great service, thank you!!

Google
This Bar has an amazing atmosphere. The beers are great, the food is fantastic, the staff is wonderful and the owner is amazing. They make all the customers feel comfortable, and everyone leaves with a big smile. The place is tucked away in a little alley, but it is not hard to find and get to, It is well worth the visit. Do not underestimate the chicken tenders, they are awesome

Google
This place is busting. They are a crazy busy place with staff hustling. They had a nice selection of draft beer and the menu was great for a pub atmosphere. They had the best crab cake I have ever had. The crab soup was in a nice vegetable type soup. I am a tarter sauce and French fry snob. I was not disappointed, some of the best fries I have ever eaten and the tarter sauce was perfect. It was the perfect pub atmosphere if you want to hang with the locals.

Google
I love it!! It's your typical dive bar with sticky floors, oversized drinks, bar food done right and a great service. We went there a couple of nights while staying in the city and both nights did not disappoint. BLT was simple and delicious, the bartenders were friendly and service was quick even though it was very busy.

Google
Has to be the worst meal I can remember having from a restaurant. Reuben "Sandwich" open face with one soggy piece of untoasted white bread, corn beef so tough you can't bite through it, nachos with the thinnest chips they could find that turn into wet paper immediately with what I'm assuming was canned chili on top. Maybe the kitchen staff was clocked out and I just spent $40 on food only my dog would enjoy. Pictures look great but I got shafted on my order. First and last time I'll ever order from here. Please reference the photo of my "Reuben Sandwich" below.

Google
Family had a great dinner at Peter’s Pour—as a local bar, we had super service, great local food and cold beer. I enjoyed the crab cakes—big pieces of crab with minimal fillers and a tasty slaw as a side. My party also enjoyed the big, cheesy, mozzarella sticks and the rockfish platter. I’ll echo the other reviews that brought us here: a great local Baltimore bar.

Yelp
Food was great! Friendly people!! The service was fast and consistent. Spoke with a cook, he was friendly as well. Would eat there again.

Yelp
Was in town for a dance competition and wanted to get a quick bite without the wait. It was ridiculous that it took 20 minutes to get there, while walking thru some sketchy Baltimore streets and it was a bit difficult to find the place. But once we found it we walked in and seated ourselves. The place was small, cute and cozy, with typical pub fare and bar. I had the bacon cheeseburger with fries and my daughter had a cheeseburger with fries too. When our order came out it was missing the bacon but it was quickly brought out by the cook, which I thought was nice. Food was pretty good, came out quick and portions were generous. The staff was nice, attentive and gave good suggestions, including telling us how to get back to our hotel quicker and safely. No complaints!

Yelp
Directly across the street, down Grant alley from Spring hill Suites We came for a quick bite to eat Bartendar was the waitress. Food was fine. I had the cheeseburger and fries I had a Jameson Orange Crush. Honestly, tasted like a regular Orange Crush

Yelp
Classic Baltimore Vibes at Peter's Pour House Peter's Pour House has been a neighborhood staple for over 40 years--a true local bar and grill where regulars gather. When I tried calling in a takeout order, I found out they don't take phone orders. A little inconvenient, but since it was the best option for us, I left my kiddo at the hotel and walked the block over. This wasn't our first visit, but it was my first time ordering carryout. I went with a grilled chicken sandwich, Maryland crab soup, and a turkey bacon club. * Grilled Chicken Sandwich - Probably on me, but I didn't realize it didn't come with mayo, lettuce, or tomato--just grilled chicken on a bun. The chicken itself was good, but it definitely needed some condiments. * Turkey Bacon Club - My husband split this with our two boys, and it was huge and well-made. * Maryland Crab Soup - Absolute flavor bomb with plenty of crab--no skimping here! The bartender was super apologetic about the no-phone-order policy, and the overall vibe was old-school Baltimore, which we loved. Next time, we'll definitely opt to dine in for the full experience!

Yelp
So came here for dinner as it was right next to my hotel. Overall good food and large portions. Definitely a dive bar, but the food was surprisingly good. Staff was super nice and had a local vibe. Came the next day and the kitchen was closed at 1030PM so not sure of the hours, but overall was a cool vibe

Yelp
Everything you could ever ask for out of a dive bar. People were awesome, service fantastic, can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Just a little bit down from the convention center this small spot is a favorite of many! A great place to catch a beer, a cocktail, some aps, or a meal... the space is small but the vibe is huge! This is a local pub type atmosphere with all kinds of personality. The server was great... they have N.A. beer selections as well, and the food was pretty good. I had a crab cake sandwich that I ate every bite of. It wasn't a skimpy meal either... the crab cake was as big as the bun and thick. It was loaded with crab and not just bread... the flavor was outstanding! It is a tight fit in here but was worth every penny!

Yelp
We popped in here for a drink and a bite while walking around downtown. It's a cool spot with a casual vibe and friendly servers. We tried a couple of beers that were good and shared some yummy mozzarella sticks. They had several other menu items that sounded good that I'd definitely try when more hungry. My only complaint is that it felt hot inside to me, but I always run warm, so probably more of a me thing haha. Overall, it was a cool place!

Yelp
Recommend having the lobster, crab, shrimp bisque. It's hearty savory and full of flavor. Ordered the chicken parmigiana sub and mushroom burger meals today. The fries are super hot, light, and crispy. The first bit of sub you get the butter toast on the bread with slightly over temp chicken. The flavor is good and complimented well with the sauce. The burger was very good and has a strong beef flavor. No condiments are really necessary to enjoy. The service is fast and made to order. This seems to be a good place to work during the day hours due to small crowding. There are two nearby garages for parking considering the Restaurant is in an alleyway. Please give this place a try

Yelp
As we walked up, it was a quiet alley. I was a little nervous. Once we walked in, the ladies working were so nice and friendly. It was pretty busy. 1 table was open inside and 2 seats at the bar. We sat at the bar. They took our order quickly and they two ladies worked very well together. The bar had a TV that showed the outside seating that we didn't see. We came through the other door. I ordered the BLT. It was really good. Lots of bacon. The fries had great seasoning and were crispy. My favorite. My husband had the chicken salad sandwich. It has big chunks of chicken. It was pretty good too. We got a side of coleslaw. It was creamy. My husband got a couple beers then tried the old fashion. He said it was really good. It was strong but he could taste all the fruit flavors in it. It was a fun place and everybody was very friendly.

Yelp
I can't believe it took me eight years to come back here. A hidden gem in Baltimore - a bit off the beaten path, and easy to miss if you're not looking for it. A delightful bar in the middle of downtown Baltimore. This place felt like home with reasonable drinks, friendly staff, and excellent looking food that I'll try next time I'm in town. My next visit won't be in eight years.

Yelp
I've visited this establishment twice. Once for lunch and once for breakfast. For lunch, I've had their Old Bag Wings, which were very flavorful and a good size. I've had their Side Salad, which was very fresh and yum. For breakfast, I've had their Breakfast Potatoes and Bacon. Both awesome. The potatoes were cooked perfectly w onions. The bacon was perfectly crispy. Customer service is always up to par, and the establishment is clean. I will continue to support this business as well as encourage others. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Catching up on Yelp reviews and I visited back in June. I visited DC, Baltimore, and Philadelphia for a baseball stadiums trip with some buddies to knock those stadiums out of the park... Peter's Pour House is located just north of the Inner Harbor, and literally off the beaten path. It's definitely hidden down a brick road street with a few other bars/restaurants and this is what I think of when being in New England/East Coast. The three of us arrived around 8pm on Saturday night after the Orioles game. Peter's was very small and it was very crowded. Probably mostly tourists during the weekend, but locals during the week. The Orioles beat the Phillies, but we were lucky and a table opened up when we were standing the bar. Peter's Pour House has an awesome vibe as it's an old school pub with some TVs to watch the games and people could sit outside on the patio. We haven't had crabcakes yet, so we all ordered crabcakes. They did look a little small, but they packed a huge amount of flavor and had a ton of crab. The fries with old bay seasoning were hot/fresh and the cheese sauce on the side was delicious. Didn't know that was a thing in Baltimore. The food was good, but I would anticipate their other menu items being typical neighborhood bar food (solid, but not spectacular). Our server was friendly and did check in with us occasionally. It was packed so she was definitely busy. Prices weren't terrible as the crabcakes were about $25-$30 (expected), the fries with cheese sauce were about $5, and beers were about $5-$7. Overall, I was a fan of Peter's Pour House as it was cozy, solid food, and solid service. So walk a little bit further away from the Inner Harbor and check out Peter's Pour House!

Yelp
Great dive bar. Cold beer. Fried food. Good tunes. Only place on this side of inner harbor to go

Yelp
Great little spot! I stopped by last night while in town on business. Marci behind the bar was super friendly and actually conversed with me! That is very rare these days! I had a couple of drinks and chat with the locals who all were very friendly. Total Cheers vibes here. I ordered wings and a grilled chicken salad to go. Both were very delicious! I will certainly return when in the area again.

Yelp
Excellent local watering hole. Great place to pregame or just watch the whole thing!

Yelp
My husband and I are here from Philly and spending the night. We decided to go to Peter's for lunch. We walked in and the bartender, Caitlin was working her butt off. She was killing it! She was running the bar as well as serving all of the tables. She made it look easy. Hubby and I decided to split the 2 jumbo lump crab cakes, and it was the best crab cake I have ever had the pleasure of eating! The fries were also cooked perfectly, the tartar sauce homemade, as well as the cole slaw. Peter's hit all the marks. The atmosphere, as well as the food and service - top tier.

Katie S.

Yelp
We headed to Peters based on the reviews on Yelp. It was worth the walk from the Inner Harbor. Friendly staff, the locals are welcoming and the Smash Burger was delicious! We even met Peter, the man, himself! A great time! We are headed back tomorrow for the legendary crab cakes! Don't hesitate to try this place!

Yelp
Awesome dive bar near my hotel. Service was great. You can giant beers of whatever you like. Fun atmosphere.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food and drinks. The bar tenders are great and crowd is usually fun and interesting... great downtown neighborhood place amongst the skyscrapers
google avatar

Jake T.

Yelp
Cool dive bar atmosphere!! Bartender was funny and helpful. The drinks were made appropriately and they were able To handle our large group. Second time I've been here and each time I've had a great time. Just be aware as it gets later some sketchy people for sure hang in the area. Nonetheless I'd go back.

Yelp
If you want a dive bar, this is THE place. Enjoyed an exceptional crab soup special, along with a 32oz Natty Bo (for only 7.25.). A GREAT place for a cheap lunch within the heart of the city! Excellent service and exceptionally tasting food.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Lovely hidden pub. I arrived early on a Thursday morning for drinks and lunch after travel. The staff were friendly, and really funny. I had the burger which the cook brought out himself. Plenty of locals showed up closer to noon and I felt right at home with the locals.
google avatar

Jackie B.

Yelp
We had a lovely lunch here during April Break. Peter welcomed us into the restaurant and we felt right at home. All of the waiters/ bartenders were very friendly. The food was good, and felt very reasonable compared to many other restaurants in the inner harbor. My daughter commented the place reminded her of Dublin.
google avatar

Laura H.

Yelp
Food: 10/10 Service: 11/10 Ambiance: 10/10 Food was this typical bar food. I had the BLT and though it took a while it was worth it. With that said, there was only 1 cook and 1 bartender/waitress, (Sad I didn't get her name, she was spectacular!) who were BUSTING it out today. Hole in the wall/locals type bar I would say. I would go back again and again if I was in Baltimore. The beer tasted clean and crisp.

Kimmy Y.

Yelp
Fantastic crab chowder! Fantastic service! Would highly recommend this place. Everyone is welcome always
google avatar

Carly C.

Yelp
It was nice to walk inside the neighborhood pub vibe after walking down an alley that we weren't sure we were in the wrong place. It was old school, everything wooden, the bar was packed with a bunch of friendly strangers chatting to each other. Our bartender/waitress was attentive and made the best orange crush. She seemed busier than everyone else there. The food was great. Mozzarella sticks had major cheese pull and the marinara sauce was flavorful. I ordered the turkey platter with fries and gravy. It was nice and flavorful, but not hot enough. The crab cakes were full of crab and although they looked small, the platter was plenty of food!

Yelp
I haven't been to this place since 2016 when I was in town for work 6 months straight. Once I got the word that I was going back to the East Coast, this was the first place that came to mind as a MUST visit. The service here is amazing. The bartenders are super friendly and very helpful. The crowd is awesome and a great mix of military, locals, hotel guests, and some business people. However, the REAL reason I came here was there Crab Cake Platter! I have tried dozens of other places looking for the perfect crab cake in Baltimore but none have come close to theirs. I'm not sure what it is that sets this one apart from the rest but I find myself craving it. I literally stayed the night at a nearby hotel just to see if it was as good as I remembered. IT WAS!! Totally worth the fairly high price tag. Anytime I am anywhere near this place, I will be back. One of my favorite places in the country to visit.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was great ! Had a Burger and it was Fresh ground beef And i am a gravy Lover and the Brown gravy was delicious Server was really nice and checked on us multiple times

scott g.

Yelp
Their website price for a crabcake platter ($29.95) is a bit less than their actual MP ($46.95). I blame myself for not asking what the MP was but it seemed a bit extreme compared to what their online price is. Nevertheless, the platter was horribly greasy and possibly the worst crab cakes I have ever had. The server/bartender was great as she had to manage a full restaurant and bar alone. What a regrettable meal.
google avatar

Waldoglasswonders ..

Yelp
Got the French dip!! It was percent amount of cheese and meat mixture with super soft bread. Fries were seasoned and crunchy.... Drinks were stiff and crowd was fun!!! Will deff be back
google avatar

Jay D.

Yelp
Love this place. If you want a friendly neighborhood joint that happens to have great food. Check this place out. This place was better than some much fancier places we went to in Baltimore. Hot open roast beef and turkey, nachos and rockfish were all exceptional. Chef is a great guy too as are the servers.
google avatar

Steve L.

Yelp
Great place with delicious food. This place has one of those old times bar feel. The food and service here is excellent. I had the Reuben which was delicious packed with thin slices of corned beef. My daughter had the Caesar chicken wrap which is not on the menu. She saw another patron eating one and asked because it looked so good. She was not disappointed. When in Baltimore, seek out this hidden gem.
google avatar

Laurie M.

Yelp
The menu was limited, but we ordered Rueben's and fries & they were good. A little pricey for size of sandwich. It was within walking distance of our hotel.

Whitney H.

Yelp
Great crab cakes! We both had the crab cake platter and we really could have split it - the crab cakes were HUGE, a large serving of their crispy fries and cole slaw. Friendly service, and very fast!
google avatar

John D.

Yelp
The reviews did not lie. Very "Cheers" like vibe. Seems to have regulars and the proprietors made us feel welcome. The crab cakes sandwiches were recommended and delivered. They were perfect. If you're in town for an Orioles game, don't miss this one.

Colleen Z.

Yelp
Loved this place. It's totally a dive bar with a diner menu. Perfect for anytime of the day. The service and food were top notch. The crowd was mostly locals, which I love when I travel.
google avatar

Lindsey C.

Yelp
raggedy ass bartender had an attitude so we left! we came for an event and wanted a drink after- lady had an attitude checking our IDs so we went else where !

Marc M.

Yelp
Crab cakes were perfect and the gravy was on point. Great place. Now the rest of this filler
google avatar

Yelp
Such a cool bar to find randomly as I was wandering around downtown Baltimore after a concert. The Yankees game had just let out and the bar was full of fans. This cool, Rat Pack themed bar had great artwork and memorabilia from the legendary group. I didn't get to eat or drink but the pizza smelled heavenly. It was karaoke night and the crowd was hype. I'd definitely be back if I'm in the area again.
google avatar

Sean R.

Yelp
Fabulous casual food and abundant choices of beers. Very cool vibe, and friendly people!
google avatar

Trip L.

Yelp
The crab cakes were amazing and had no filler. The bar tender and chef were friendly and fantastic! I even got to watch the Yankees lose to the Red Sox while I ate (so far). Great night and amazing staff.

Yelp
Great to be back again at Peter's Pour House. Nice crowd for Friday lunch. Shrimp salad sandwich was delish, and the fries that came with it were hot and fresh. My colleague had the open-faced hot turkey platter. It was a generous portion and she said it was delish. Also nice to see Peter, manning the ship and as hospitable as always. This guy has not aged one bit, and it was fun to see him. Their waitstaff and bar tender have been there for many years, and do an excellent job of making every customer feel welcome and special. Hail to you Peter and Peter's Pour House!
google avatar

Haley P.

Yelp
This was THE spot for our trip to Baltimore over the weekend. Service? Wonderful. Food? Delicious. Drinks? Flowing. We had a lot of fun at Peter's as our pre- and post-game from the Moonrise festival.
google avatar

Tati R.

Yelp
The place has a bar and several tables. They were able to accommodate a party of 10. Service was a bit slow but the server told us there was only one cook. I ordered the crab cake platter (w/ fries & coleslaw) which was enough to be shared. It was delicious. Overall great time and experience.
google avatar

Louise K.

Yelp
Oh Peter, please post the fixes! Would love to see! I realize that there have been shortages here and there but impressed that all these fixes magically happened today! Funny how that happens! And did you know the price of chicken wings is lower than before covid?
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
Cute little bar with warm dark paneling. Friendly staff. And killer crab cakes! I asked for one as an appetizer and it didn't disappoint. So good it didn't need any remoulade. I also recommend the French dip sandwich. Very tender and delicious!
google avatar

Renee B.

Yelp
Well, well, well. I happened to be in the area. I originally tried to go to a different restaurant only to find out they were closed. As I walked the area this gem happened to be on what I would call an alley street. I had never even heard of this place before. What drew my attention was the name Peter because it used to be my dad's nickname (may he continue to rest in peace). I entered the restaurant and was immediately welcomed. I chose to sit at the bar because I was alone. The atmosphere was pretty laid back in the middle of the day. I'm sure it's probably pretty pumped up when a game is playing. The bartender was friendly. She didn't take long to make sure that I placed my order in a timely manner. The old bay wings were just ok. I enjoyed the salmon and rice and the herb toast was delicious. The apple martini didn't disappoint and neither did the speciality drink I ordered. I will be sure to patronize this place again when I am in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Great selection of hearty beers and simple Baltimore style bar food. Ordered the crab cake sandwich with fries, blackened rockfish over rice with toast, and a bowl of chili. All the dishes were flavorful, filling and delicious. Washed these down with refreshing 'Positive mental attitude' and 'Resurrection' beers. The environment consisted of dark woods, steep staircases with worn carpet, green square wooden tables and old fashioned chairs from grandma's house. It is an older bar but has character and charm. Great for large groups. The service was expedient, warm, and courteous. Our waitress and bartender cordially greeted us and made sure our drinks were full and food orders filled. And when we left they said goodbye. They run a tight ship. I will definitely be back.
