We had a nice evening here as a group of 8. Two staff were lovely but needed some assistance as had long wait for drinks and other bits. We over ordered partly due to waiters guidance and there is a lot of bread on the menu. Having said that some great flavours, prawns were delicious. Octopus slightly over seasoned.

Just... WOW! I came to Petiscaria Ideal on a work dinner, and I urged to come back again on my own a few days later. Portuguese food with a Twist, good wines, lots of vegetarian options. The Tuna with sweet potatoes is a must, I also recommend the shrimps, better served with plenty of bread to enjoy the delicious sauce! It is possible to book with The Fork.

This was the first place we visited for dinner and it stayed as the best one throughout or visit to Lisbon. Ambince is very good, staff is friendly and polite. Menu is not large but they have very tasty and very original food. They serve good wine. We ordered mushrooms with chestnuts, beef toasties, shrimps with sauce and did not regret anything at all. A must see restaurant definitely!

Absolutely loved this place! We got a bunch of things to share and some wine, it came with free olives. Our highlight were the "ideal" shrimp (which had a fantastic sauce), the pork stew with mashed potatoes and the beef steak on bread. Everything comes as sharing portions and they have great Portuguese wine. For dessert we had a fantastic apple crumble and chocolate mousse. The staff was really friendly and the prices were fair for the quality of food. Will definitely come back next time I am in Lisbon!

Absolutely delicious. Don’t know how it is compared to the past (as some here were complaining about the loss of its magic) but the food is amazing. We had the tuna, baby squids and clams and we wished we would never finish and eat forever! The service is soo helpful and nice! Really great place!

Yelp
Very authentic Lisbon restaurant. Communal long tables with fairly narrow chairs. Great food, had fish soup to start with, very tasty. Continued with fried baby squids cooked to perfection. Lastly, the best chocolate mousse ever! Could die for that! A couple of glasses of nice dry white Portuguese wine and finally an espresso accompanied the meal. Highly recommended!

Yelp
After an incredible dinner the night prior just down the street, we were hesitant about trying a new place. So glad we did because my husband and I couldn't agree more that our dinner at Ideal was the best meal of our honeymoon. Portuguese tapas meant nothing to us. My husband and I were just hoping the dishes would be bigger and better put together than Spanish tapas back in the states. Knowing that they don't take reservation, we came right at its opening and sat by the window. Our sweet waiter quickly explained the menu and recommended us to pick 3 dishes to share. I could literally see myself eating every seafood dishes on the menu but ultimately we went with their braised tuna with sweet potato, fried cuttlefish with clams, and to add local speciality - stewed black pork with pepper jam. Braised tuna with sweet potato - translation was definitively off since we received seared tuna. My husband and I loveeee seared tuna to begin with so no complaint there. The 8 pieces of perfectly seared tuna strips coated with sweetened, pan fried shallots and this incredible crack sauce were unbelievable! We saved the sauces for all the subsequent dishes because it was just too good to give up. Our waiter were ready to switch out our plates but we turned him away. The stewed soft sweet potatoes added the perfect contrast of taste and texture to this dish. Honestly I don't mind just eating this dish again and again and again. Too good! Fried cuttlefish - again the translation was off, perhaps pan fried. I was expecting something along the line of croquettes but we received a pot of whole cuttlefish, clams, and potato. Nevertheless, the seafood was fresh and beyond delicious! Black pork - never have I had a softer cut of pork. I didn't even need a knife. The pork pieces just fell apart on its own with a light stroke of my fork. The pepper jam, sweet and tangy, was the perfect condiment to the dish. We drank every drop of this stew. I don't even like pork but this pork dish was just too amazing. We were beyond stuffed with the 3 amazing dishes. But with such incredible main dishes, our inner fatties were curious and wanted to try their desserts too. We ordered the dessert samplers for 2. They had 4 desserts to choose from but we went with pear crumble and chocolate tart with peanut sauce. Both desserts served warm. The chocolate tart was actually a brownie. A little too rich and sweet for our taste but still very yummy. The pear crumble was hearty. Perfectly stewed pear pieces, generous touch of cinnamon and brown sugar, it was the perfect ending to our incredible meal. Attentive, heartwarming service + incredible, well priced foods - Ideal will always have a place in my heart (and belly). Thanks for the most amazing, memorable meal of our honeymoon!

Yelp
This was one of the memorable meals I had in Lisbon. It's not a large place, and there is some communal seating so it's fun to get to know your neighbors. The ambience is nice though - great lighting and it felt lively but not too noisy. Everything we tried was delicious. I had a seafood dish- it was a piece of seared tuna and it was cooked perfectly. My companion had a steak and it was done right - with a delicious sauce on top. The dessert sampler was also out of this world - every bite we tried was great. My friend and I agreed that this place was the best meal we had in Lisbon.

Yelp
Petiscaria Ideal takes a modern approach to both food and ambiance*. Gorgeous cavernous lighting, long communal tables, inventive Portugese cuisine, upbeat service, and affordable prices. With such a winning combo, it was one of our favorite meals in Lisbon. We loved the seafood dishes, and the vegetarian options (though, the stuffed eggplant was a little bland). Plenty of local wines & cocktails to add to the experience, too. Rumor has it, this place fills up pretty fast. You can make reservations, or just arrive early to grab what's available. We arrived right when they opened and were offered seats at any of the non-reserved spots (about 1/3 of the restaurant). So, there is hope! The tucked away neighborhood location makes it feel even more precious and unique. *Background note: There's SO much good food in Lisbon, but SO much awful restaurant lighting going on. It sounds strange, but if you're used to sexy lighting with your upscale dinner, it's hard to find around here. Nearly every restaurant we walked by had bright hospital lighting (despite delicious authentic food). This fluorescent epidemic needs a cure! Thankfully, Petiscaria Ideal is delightfully dark and sultry.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant just down the hill from where I am staying in an Airbnb flat. It was a rather humid but lovely evening in Lisbon, and I decided to saunter down to Petiscaria Ideal. It was bustling with almost all of the tables full. I ordered the crunchy baby squid which was delicious. The squid was really fresh as Lisbon being a port city is a fish lover's dream. I followed this with the Petisqueria Salad which was fairly large and filled with lettuce, endive, sliced pear, walnuts and goat cheese in a thick balsamic vinegarette. I washed this down with some Super Bock which is the light beer from Porto. There is wifi at the restaurant, so I was able to catch up on some of my newspapers online stateside. Bill came to 23 Euros and change which was decent for the quality of the food, excellent service, and overall ambiance.

Yelp
Great night out for dinner. Feels like a place for the locals - the staff could not have been nicer and the food was fantastic. Very reasonably priced as well. The long communal tables make the place fun for groups and couples alike. Highly recommended

Yelp
Great place. Ideal for pairs, small groups. Full with life. The stuffed tomatoes and mushrooms as well. Full with life, joy. We were so lucky knocking the door. The last two chairs have been waiting for us...And the waiters. They are so friendly, helpful. We will come back! Sooner than later!

Yelp
A hipster place in Lisbon! Went here two times - first time was not impressed at all but realized this had to do with our choices on the menu. To try #1: Seared tuna. If you don't like raw fish, you wont like this of course. But if you do, make sure to order this and eat while it is still warm and also make sure you get some of those sweet potatoes (just slightly too oily though for my taste). To try #2: Prego. Yum. As a not-too-often meat eater, I was impressed. Prego is the traditional Portuguese sandwich with meat. This one contained good meet and (again) oily and tasty bread. Go for it! To avoid: Scrambled eggs. Yeah. Eggs are not for dinner and it makes little sense to have it on the menu. I'm actually not sure why my party the first time we were here decided to order this. It's a breakfast item and should be avoided after 2 PM in the afternoon! In sum, good prices and depending on what you order this can be a weak 3 star, or a slightly stronger 4 star experience.

Yelp
This is a tapas style restaurant portuguese style and what can I say except that it is pretty awesome. When you enter you are faced with two long tables and a smaller one seating about ten to the far end of the room which is where we placed ourselves. I would imagine you would have to get here early if you are large group as you sit where there is space available. As we were there mid week and seated before 20:00 we had a good choice of seats. We ordered six dishes between three of us. I would say 2-3 per person is adequate but we'd eaten a snack a couple hours before so 6 was more than enough fo us to handle. The crab cakes were well flavoured and held together after the first bite. The seared tuna was melt in the mouth absolutely superb, as was the octopus stew and the sweet potato dish. Using only seasonal ingredients this is a great way to try Portuguese food at its best. This was all washed down with a refreshing ice cold jug of apple sangria. English speaking staff who took time to explain and recommend dishes. The decor is authentically Portuguese. Expect to pay around 20-25 euro per head depending on what you order. No reservations taken and cash payments only. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Again a great experience in Lisbon! How to define Petiscaria ideal in some words: - Cosy place - Amazing ambiance - Great reinvented Portuguese dishes Adriano welcomed us and made us feel like at home in a couple of seconds. He was a good advisor in terms of wine. We asked him to match our wine with the dishes we choose. It was perfect! In terms of food: I would recommend tuna steaks and pork stew in pepper sauce (even if I hate pepper). The restaurant is known for these dishes. I also took a plate of Pata Negra ham, which, by definition, can't be disappointing. PS: we were able to book a table for 2, 2 hours before which is very convenient.

Yelp
I am so glad I tried this place. The food was some of the best that I have ever had, the ambiance was perfect and the service was very good. From the moment we walked into the door we were greeted by staff and they sat down at our table to explain how the menu works. The plates are to share and they bring each plate out at a different time. For two people me boyfriend and I ordered the seared tuna and sweet potatoes and the steak with bread and mushroom (must try) as well as some bread and butter for a starter. The food was perfect and I totally recommend this place for anyone in Lisbon :)

Yelp
This was the last place we are at on our trip and I'd have to say it may have been the best! We got the quail, tuna and pork stew. Everything was amazing and the staff were very nice and explained how the menu worked (tapas) Dont skip this place!

Yelp
So far this has been my favorite restaurant in Lisbon, and there are so many good ones! I highly recommend the seared tuna and the steak/mushroom sandwich. The salad with endives, walnuts, pears and melted cheese was also delectable. We had the chocolate mousse for desert, which was strong and rich...A great way to finish off the meal. If you're in this area of Lisbon, go to this awesome spot!

Yelp
Phenomenal. Get the stewed black pork and the tuna with sweet potatoes. The soup of the day when we went was like a gazpacho with shrimp and it was also good. The olives on the table and olive oil are amazing. The apple cake and chocolate aguardente mousse were my favorites of the desserts.

Yelp
Leave the salad, ORDER TWO of the oven roasted octopus! I'll be dreaming about this dish for YEARS to come. Sweet and small restaurant with a touch of kitsch, but not to be missed if you're looking for authentic Portuguese with strong homemade feel.

Yelp
A nice Portuguese tapas restaurant mainly ambiance and decent food.
