Petit Bao in Paris is a 5-star experience for me. It’s the kind of meal that feels fun and indulgent, but still really well-executed, with bold sauces, proper wok flavor, and textures that keep things exciting.
The soft spicy eggplants were the standout: meltingly tender and coated in a glossy, spicy-savory sauce that’s genuinely addictive. The fried shrimp wontons came perfectly crisp and golden, with juicy shrimp inside and a dipping sauce that makes them disappear fast. We also got the OG Chao Fan as a side, simple wok stir-fried rice with egg, shiitake mushrooms, scallions, soy sauce, and XO sauce, flavorful and super satisfying alongside the saucier dishes.
For mains, the beef ho fun was exactly what you want when you’re craving comfort: wok stir-fried rice noodles with beef, onions, egg, and soybean sprouts, all tied together with that savory, slightly smoky wok-kissed taste. The sweet and sour chicken hit the right balance too: crisp, tangy, and bright without being overly sugary.
The only small note was the chicken bao, which felt a bit dry and slightly doughy compared to the rest. But honestly, it didn’t take away from the overall meal, because everything else was strong.
If you want a place in Paris that delivers big flavor and a reliably satisfying spread, Petit Bao is absolutely worth it. 5 stars.
