Had the pleasure of visiting Petit Bill’s Bistro for lunch — and WOW! Walking in past the cozy patio, you’re welcomed by a warm, inviting space filled with art from local artists. We were greeted and served by Terry, one of the owners, who shared the heartwarming story behind this family-run gem. The food was incredible, but it was the service that truly stood out. You can feel the passion and genuine care in every detail — and every bite. We left feeling like part of the family. Thank you for a wonderful meal. We can’t wait to come back!

Visited here for my partners 30th birthday - the waiter was super attentive (filled my wine, our waters), and provided good recommendations. We had the lobster poutine and seafood chowder to start and it was delicious! My partner had the short ribs as the main and I had the lobster risotto. Both were amazing. They also provided a small piece of Black Forest cake for his birthday which was so appreciated! Would definitely be back again for seafood or a special occasion.

We had a fantastic dinner at Petit Bill’s. Randy, the owner, was walking around helping guests and checking in on the service throughout the evening which was very nice to see. Our waiter, Connor, was terrific and very helpful in providing menu suggestions as well. We had the Lobster Wontons to start and then the Short Rib and the Fish & Frites which were all wonderful but the real surprise was the Bread Pudding for dessert. Don’t sleep on the bread pudding!

Top tier establishment from the people to the food. The diversity of options on the menu we dabbled into and the flawless execution consistently. Clam strips where tender and delicious. The seafood chowder was perfection: lots of meat and perfectly seasoned. Short rib was fork tender and the fish and chips melted in your mouth. The vegan gumbo and cornbread was amazing as well from what I heard. We'll be back next time we're in Ottawa.

I had a wonderful experience dining here. The cod special was absolutely fantastic—perfectly cooked, fresh, and packed with flavor. You could tell a lot of care went into preparing it. The service was also outstanding. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, which made the meal even more enjoyable. Everything about the visit—from the food to the service—was truly impressive. I would definitely recommend this place and look forward to coming back again soon!

Took my mother out for dinner here and this was my first ever visit. From the moment we walked in until the moment we left, the overall experience was top notch. Exceptional service coupled with extraordinary food made for a very memorable dining experience. I highly recommend the Beef short ribs, they were quite simply, the best I’ve ever had. The bread pudding for dessert if you have the room is worth it as well. Thumbs up for a job well done, I will most definitely be back.

Delicious food (French and Newfoundland fusion)! Great service - our server was awesome. Fair prices. Bathroom was a little dingy but clean. Would definitely recommend and would visit again!

Google
Lovely Bistro, our server Erica was amazing, we had a great time! I will come back. -The Wonton lobster doesn't have a lot of lobster but it still was my favorite. -For the risotto it's a personal preference but I thought that the flavor was a little bit too subtle, but there was a good amount of lobster/shrimps and the grilled green onion were delicious. -The lobster poutine sauce is very tasty.

Yelp
A real hidden gem in Ottawa. The service was incredibly friendly and the server enthusiastically answered all of our questions about the menu. The 'Electric Lemonade' cocktail was not too sweet, and had a great tart lemon flavour. For my main I selected the steak sandwich. This was absolutely delicious! Perfectly cooked and packed with tons of flavour. I upgraded my fries to a lobster poutine and was thoroughly pleased with my decision. My only note is that the portion could be slightly bigger for the cost (+$12).

Yelp
Certainly the best clam chowder ! Food is always fresh and the barista makes excellent drinks. The other reason we come back is the service is excellent with the owner often stopping by to check on how we're enjoying our experience. The atmosphere is pleasant with tables nicely distanced , a separate bar area, and a small patio out front for outdoor enjoyment . What's not to like ?

Yelp
My friend and I went to Petit Bill's for an early, Saturday night dinner. We sat outside and enjoyed the patio. As such, I can't speak about the bathrooms or accessibility. The patio is accessible. Petit Bill's offers a wonderful assortment of French food with an East coast spin. Lots of food with fresh, local ingredients and lots of specials. Expect amazing, beautiful meals of steak, fish, chicken and lamb. Not a ton of options for vegans and vegetarians, as most of the menu is meat or fish based. There's hummus and a pecan burger and a vegetable tarts, so it can work.

Yelp
I was there last night to celebrate a friend's birthday. The food was very good, the service was EXCELLENT! Our server was attentive, friendly and fun. She never let our glasses go empty, be it wine, water, cocktails, we wanted for nothing. Thank you for a lovely dining experience

Yelp
I've worked in this neighbourhood for years now, and it's unbelievable that I've never been here before! The restaurant is located on the north side of Wellington, near the deli and bagel shop, and there's street parking nearby. You walk into the bar and seating area, and to the left there is more space with much more seating. It's very clean inside, and there's lots of space. The bar touted lots of interesting looking beverages. Based on the prices of their food, this is an upscale restaurant. We were here in a group for lunch, and I ordered a special of the day - Quiche with a salad. It was tasty, and cost about $16.00. Most of the menu items were more expensive than that, even for lunch. The service was stellar; we were even greeted by the owner, who is the son of the original "Petit Bill". He also came to check on us during the meal.

Vincent V.

Yelp
Everything was top notch. I had the fish & chips. You can actually select all fries or half fries and a side salad which was quite pleasant as well as select two or three portions of fish. Bonus! My son ordered the chicken burger which he said was delicious. Service was very attentive but not over the top which is what we like and the host very charming. What a great meal and a great end to a perfect lunch. Have returned since and will definitely head back to try the lobster poutine and beef ribs.

Yelp
I've been to Petit Bill's three times now and it's consistently good. My most recent visit was this past weekend with my husband and some friends (another couple) and we all had a great time. The restaurant is a bit unique in that it's French bistro meets Newfoundland eatery. The decor is a mishmash of stuff from nautical themed items to old family photos of the owner to abstract art. It's charming. I didn't have a starter, but my husband had the chowder ($7), as did one of our friends. Our other friend had the escargot (snails freak me out, so I tried not to look, lol). The chowder looked good. It was full of mussels, potatoes and fish. I had the tiniest taste and it was really rich and creamy. For my main, I had the pecan burger ($18) which came with a side salad. I am pleased to report that the pecan burger was not soy-based (no textured vegetable protein or that "round ground" stuff). It was really tasty and held together well. The bun was really fresh and was brioche-like. The burger was dressed with pickled onions, pickled red peppers and pickles - aka pickled cucumbers ;) I'm usually not a huge fan of pickled items, and usually pick them out, but I actually enjoyed the pickled items in the burger. The burger came with a side of yogurt sauce. The tanginess of the yogurt went well with the burger (I didn't even miss the ketchup and mustard that weren't there, my regularly prefered burger condiments). The side salad was real mixed greens (none of that iceberg or romaine nonsense, haha). It also had spiraled strings of carrots and beets. I did ask for the dressing on the side, but unfortunately the salad came dressed. There was a little too much dressing on the salad for my liking, but it wasn't that bad. Salad ingredients were all fresh. The hubster had the Scallops ($22) which came with a spinach and almond salad. Hubby was a bit disappointed to receive only 4 scallops, but at least they were medium-sized and not those tiny Bay Scallops that look like miniature marshmallows, haha. He felt the maple syrup sauce on the scallops was a bit too sweet, but he still enjoyed his dish. One of our friends had the Steak Frites ($38) and it looked fantastic. The fries were matchstick fries. In my books, the only fries better than shoestring fries are matchstick fries, oh yeah! I think I'm going to have to get the Steak Frites on my next visit. It looked like there were battered and deep fried red peppers on his plate too. Our other friend had the daily special, which was the meatloaf ($20). I'm not a huge meatloaf fan, but she seemed to enjoy it and my husband (who is a meatloaf fan) said it looked really good and he'd want to try it on a future visit. Now I skipped having an appetizer so I could have dessert, but none of the desserts really called out to me, so I passed. They sounded interesting like a "peanut butter and jam creme brulee" and a "Nutella cheesecake" and "chili chocolate brownie" but I wasn't feeling it that night, maybe next time. The owner came over and asked us if we were enjoying ourselves and he was quite friendly. It's a cute little place. We'll be back.

Yelp
Full review blogged - Dishes and Verdict as below. The Food: Complimentary bread and butter, 3 appetizers, 3 mains, 2 desserts. Little Bill's Crab Cakes: Ordered by my aunt these were described on the menu as "Two Crab Cakes lightly breaded & seared accompanied by a roasted garlic aoli & fresh tomato salsa" but with far too much filler and February 'fresh' tomatoes used to compose the salsa the flavor of this dish was really quite meager aside from the garlic and old bay used to season the crab-tinged dumplings. Cod Tongue Croquettes: Fairing much better than the crab cakes my appetizer selection of 3 muscular and tender cod tongue croquettes served with spicy almond & roasted red pepper romesco would turn out to be a rather well crafted dish with a light salad serving to balance the acid and heat of the romenso while the batter on the croquettes was flavorful, though a touch oily. Lobster Poutine: Without a doubt the best savory of the meal the only thing Petit Bill's really had to nail in order to make this dish shine was the frites and that is precisely what they did - the crispy spuds holding up admirably to a rich mixture of chunked and shredded lobster, shellfish butter, and mascarpone. Crispy and creamy, sweet yet savory - it wasn't traditional poutine, but it was delicious. Sea Scallops: My mother's main course arrived on a lengthy plate and featuring three pan seared scallops in a slick of Chelsea Quebec maple syrup & house smoked bacon I'd be lying if I said it did not taste delicious - it was sweet and savory with a touch of the sea - but with that said, with the scallops overcooked and essentially lost in the other potent ingredients I really did not get the 'point' of this dish at all. Adding a touch of levity with an almond spinach salad dressed in citrus vinaigrette I will say that the acid helped somewhat, but honestly this was just a bunch of disjointed ingredients on that plate that appealed to me the same way bacon and maple syrup would if it was served with something as simple as bread or scrambled eggs. Lobster Pot Pie: My Aunt's selection was a dish that SHOULD have been an easy success given its constituents of fresh lobster, winter vegetables, and fingerling potatoes...and yet it wasn't. Marred by a combination of far too much potato and carrot, watery flavorless gravy, and an undercooked and doughy pastry top the only thing that really shined about this dish was the lobster - perhaps a single small carapace or a couple of small claws' worth perhaps 1/3 of the pot pie's actual pricetag. Lobster & Pickerel Raclette: A $28 dish for which I had high expectations this was without doubt the best of the main courses yet even at that it still fell far short of its potential. Described on the menu as "Pickerel & Lobster quenelle topped with a white wine & clam buerre blanc served atop an Arctic surf clam potato rosti & topped with Pied de Vent Cheese" the highlight of this dish was actually the rosti - a savory concoction with notes of sweetness and the sea perfectly cooked like a hash...it would have gone great with breakfast but worked equally well at dinner. Moving on to the featured quenelles - they were dense, overcooked, and almost 'chewy' - nothing like the life altering version at Michel Rostang and despite the supposed use of lobster the flavor was pure pike plus the slight tang of the Quebecoise bleu. Traditional Newfoundland Pound Cake soaked in authentic Newfoundland Screech: Where the mains failed the desserts certainly did not and although the portion was small, this dense buttercake soaked in rum with a small ball of rich cream at its side was the picture of balance. Boozy and buttery, dense but crumbly, and toothsome but mellowed by the cream I've no doubt one could make this at home without too much trouble but that didn't detract from it one bit - I'd have gladly eaten a loaf (and likely ended up quite drunk.) Bread Pudding with cranberry-raisins, white chocolate & crème anglais: If the Pound Cake was good, this was superlative. Measuring perhaps 1.5" x 4.0" x 7.0" but rich, dense, warm, and drenched in thick vanilla crème it was as simple as the previous dessert but an entirely different flavor profile, texture, and temperature - the pair together slight in portion but enormous in flavor. The Verdict: While I'm not sure it is possible to go into a place you know little about with expectations that are "too high," we all walked out of Petit Bill's disappointed. From the lousy seats to the perfunctory service there was really nothing harkening the "down-home hospitality" proposed in their mission statement and while I guess the food was decent enough 'homestyle' food, the prices suggested the majority of the dishes should have been executed much better than they were - particularly as some were overcooked, some undercooked, and others simply poorly conceptualized or balanced. I'd go back for dessert, maybe, on someone else's dime.

Yelp
I went here with a friend as part of our efforts to try out some of ottawa's best restaurants. We were intrigued by the mix of cuisines: it's not every day that you see a slice of the maritimes mixed in with French influences. The restaurant is well set up, warm, and inviting. The wait staff was friendly and answered all of our questions. I ordered the duck confit and a lobster Poutine as an appetizer. My friend ordered scallops and fish cakes as an appetizer. The food was, to be frank, uninteresting. The scallops were drenched in maple syrup and my duck confit was drier than would be expected. The flavours just didn't mesh as they should and it left us disappointed. We ordered cheesecake and bread pudding for dessert. Surprisingly, these were quite good. It's clear that their chef has a sweet tooth! Overall, I'd suggest that you proceed with caution. This place has great things going for it but it just doesn't seem to have everything in place quite yet.

Yelp
First off I'm not a huge fan of seafood, but my wife is, we decided to try this little spot near our home. I'll just get to my details here. 1. Small tight spaces, so you can easily hear the people next to you. 2. Fantastic Service, had a small issue with out appetizer, waitress came up and gave us the dish for free. 3. Menu is has a great menu for all, lots of different items to chose from. (Check menu) 4. Reservations for supper are a must on weekends. 5. Wine list is Huge 6. Place is fantastic for a social night out, looking for a quite night, this wont be the best place.

Yelp
I dropped into Petit Bill's recently for a meal after seeing their menu when a friend emailed it out. Wow did a lot of the things on the menu sounds great. I believe the menu is supposed to have an east coast theme. The place is very easy to find and there was parking on the streets. When I walked in I was greeted by multiple people and they are really friendly. The decor of the place is pretty cool. They brought me to my table as I was running late and I joined my friends. I opened the menu and it really looks fabulous but I wasn't super hungry so I decided to get just a burger (i know, i know) but upgrade my side from the fries to the lobster and crab mac and cheese. It was a tough choice between that and a lobster poutine but I was more intrigued about the mac and cheese. When my meal arrived I was really excited to try the mac and cheese. I started with a few bites out of there. I was pretty disappointed. The cheese sauce was really bland and the crab was really salty but the lobster was delicious. I was hoping to get a good buttery taste or cheese taste from the lobster but it wasn't there. All the tastes were pretty separated. My friends tried the poutine and said it was ok. The burger was really disappointing. If you've read some of my other reviews you know I love burgers. For burger fans I just want to let you know that the burger is extremely well done and has no flavour on top of that. Even though my first meal here was pretty disappointing, their menu is very interesting to me and I plan to go back and give one of their other items a try.

Yelp
I went to Petit Bills with a friend for a glass of wine on a Monday night. We sat at the bar and there were just one or two tables still eating in the restaurant, though they were clearly finishing up. Even so, we were not made to feel rushed at all during the course of our few (not one) glasses of wine that evening. In fact, it turns out that we had picked a good place, since one of the owners teaches sommelier courses at Algonquin College and appreciated us appreciating the wine slowly. Our server (one of the owners) made small talk with us as the last dishes were cleaned and let us taste a couple of his other wines off the restaurants extensive wine list. Our seat at the bar gave us more of an "insiders" view of the restaurant, which was neat. Generally the tables are fairly close together to maximize seating space in the small dining area, but in this case it doesn't make the restaurant feel crowded, but rather gives it a cozy feel.

Yelp
The staff was wonderfully welcoming, especially Terry who snuck over to give me updates on the football game. The space is nice although personally I found the art a bit chaotic and while I appreciate giving local artists a platform, I personally thought there was too much of a mish mash and it made things a little less sophisticated. Overall we thought the food was good. The lobster poutine was kind of bland but the fries were excellent. My wife had the pasta special and while I rarely like ordering pasta out, I thought it was delicious and pretty interesting with pulled duck, crackling, orange marmalade and some other delicious ingredients. I had a charred eggplant and couscous salad which seemed a bit outside the french newfie motif but was really nice. I noticed a lot of other reviews thought it was over priced. I'm going to have to disagree. It is not small plates and so the mains are mid $30's, but they also have "bistro" items at the $20 price point and a range of app prices. I think if the decor was a little fancier or the vibe a little stuffier no one would mention $36 being too much for a beef short rib or duck confit dish. Go, have fun, eat some good food and don't over think it.

Yelp
Just popped in for dessert. We shared a lemon cheesecake with white chocolate ganache. We tried a B-52 and a Ski Slope. Weird combination of flavors, but that's on us not them. My B52 was incredibly strong on the alcohol which wouldn't be a problem for most people but I was expecting slightly more coffee but it was still very good. The Ski Slope was perfect. I wish there was more people at our table to have order another dessert or two. I wouldn't mind trying some more. I can't speak for their main courses but it was a wonderful dessert stop.

Yelp
This was my first time eating at Petit Bill's Bistro, and I was very excited, because I knew they served Art-is-in Bakery items with several dishes. I went with a fairly large group of about 20 people, so the service was a little slow, but understandable. The waitresses were very attentive, and went the extra mile. I ordered the burger on a jalapeno cheddar bun with fries. It was good, but it was not "out of this world" The fries were SALTY! I don't even know why they offer salt on the table. The bread and buns that the bistro used were from Art is in Bakery in Westboro, but honestly, it tasted like my burger bun had a stick of butter in it. The menu was a bit pricey for the quantity, and in my opinion, the portions were small, but if you like the whole "french/Canadian/bar" bistro type of food/atmosphere, then this place will rock your socks!! If I return, I will remember to skip the carbs, and order a salad...

Yelp
Went to this place recently with a friend for lunch. Great spot for lunch. I had an open faced salmon sandwich with some fries and my friend had the moules frite. It was very tasty! The fries are amazing! My salmon was beautifully cooked and the bread and marinated cucumbers and onions really added to the dish! Personally I do not like moules frites but I did try the broth (tomatoes, artichoke, olives) and it was really good! The atmosphere was also quite nice. Very small. The place was quiet when we went. The service was very attentive. A bit on the pricey side but well worth it!

Yelp
Looking for an opportunity to enjoy incredible dishes in warm friendly surroundings? Look no further. Petit Bill's offers a variety of beautifully prepared menu choices. I recently opted for the Jambalaya. Lots of shrimp, chicken and beautifully seasoned rice were high lighted by melt in your mouth mussels. Such a treat! Be sure to leave room for dessert. The creme brulee is a must. Bon appetit!

Yelp
We had dinner there last Friday evening. The service was fantastic. I had the chorizo soup and the pecan burger. I am not a vegan but I love delicious vegan dishes. The food was delicious and good quality products were used. I will be returning to try their other delicious items.

Yelp
I recently went to Petit Bill's Bourbon Tasting Night. This is an evening planned around tasting 6 different bourbons with a menu specifically designed to go with the bourbons. It was well-organized evening. It started off with a complimentary spicy Old-Fashioned cocktail. Once everyone arrived, we all sat at our tables and they had someone tell us everything you would ever want to know about bourbon. This was followed by a plate with 5 different dishes on it - each one made to go with each type of bourbon. I know nothing about bourbon so I can't personally attest to how good the bourbons were. There were a lot of bourbon connoisseurs in the restaurant and they all seemed very appreciative. The food was excellent - the dishes ranged from a smoked halibut to a sweet beef stew to roasted pork belly on quinoa. It was all excellent. Dessert was deep-fried bread pudding - delicious. My only complaint of the night was that there was too much talking and explanation of bourbon; it could have been shorter. So,if you appreciate bourbon or want to learn more, I highly recommend Bourbon Tasting Night.

Yelp
What a cozy place petit bills is! From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the owner and the warmth of the restaurant. We opted to try the table d'hôte for 2 to get a sense of variety of their specialities. Price point was slightly on the mid-high end for a bistro setting, but the price for two also came with a bottle of white/red wine. For starters we had a crab/seafood bisque, a house salad, followed by mains of duck new fit and seared tuna. We don't know why we do this to ourselves, but we forced down some very delicious creme brûlée and pound cake at the very end. Definitely heartier portions than the typical French portions of food, but great for sharing and or entertaining larger crowds. Food overall wasn't particularly remarkable and somewhat pricey, but the ambiance and the attentativeness of the staff made the night highly enjoyable!

Yelp
We had a great dinner here recently. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and received excellent service throughout our meal. The menu is extensive. I was surprised by the wide variety of options particularly for fish dishes. We opted for the turkey and leek soup to start and the Pacific cod on a bed of celery root puree and swiss chard, and the duck newfit (a Newfoundland take on duck confit) for our mains. For dessert we had the maple cheesecake. Everything was tasty and beautifully presented. Petit Bills definitely cares about wine. The restaurant has featured wines each week and the table d'hotre has an optional wine pairing flight. Their list is long and well priced but I personally didn't find many of the options exciting. We decided to try one of the weekly featured wines - a Prince Edward County Chardonnay. It was fantastic and delivered great value for money. I forgot to ask about corkage but will do so before our next visit. The damage for one app, two mains, a bottle of wine and dessert: $125 plus tax and tip.

Yelp
Petit Bill's is a solid neigborhood bistro, with excellent friendy service. I have enjoyed my three meals at Bill's and can't remember anyone I have been with being dissatisfied with their meal here. It's basic, fresh bistro fare, with an emphasis on seafood, in a casual-upscale environment. Realistically, three and a half stars food and value wise, rounded up for friendly service.

Yelp
I got it wrong with PB's. I thought it was French but the menu actually has more of a maritime vibe (fish and chips, etc.) but it fulfills the bistro mandate of quick and tasty. On a recent Saturday lunch, the owner gave us a warm welcome (he is not Bill but is the son of Bill) and service was great. I had the lobster grilled cheese sandwich and it is the stuff of midnight cravings. Very tasty indeed with generous chunks of lobster. My companion had lamb sausage pasta. Also very good, though he was coveting my lobster-cheese and stealing my fries. Desserts going past looked terrific. Pies like Grandma wishes she used to make. But we were too full to try them out this time. Fortunately, I have an other Westboro errand this weekend so I may have to graze the PB menu once more.

Yelp
Had the shrimp pasta for lunch... yummy! It was fresh, tasty and not overdone. They also give free refills for pop. I was really pleased with this place.

Yelp
Fresh east coast Acadian style seafood. The four of us ordered Table d'hôte, Seared yellow fin tuna, Walleye on Art-is-in Baguette and Moules et Frites. Everyone is impressed with the quality of the food. They also serve butter seasoned with spring onion and cilantro. However, there is not much around the neighbourhood and out of the way.

Yelp
J'aime Petit Bill's! The crazy fusion of East Coast Flare and French Bistro food somehow works out to something that I absolutely want seconds of. We had been looking for an excuse to go for a while and finally popped in for a birthday lunch. Lunch was good, but next time I would prefer to go for supper. We were seated right away and our server was a doll. When I asked for lemonade and they didn't have any, she offered to hand squeeze some for me! I thought she was joking but then saw her standing behind the bar with a massive amount of lemons! Obviously I told her that Iced Tea would be fine, but talk about customer service! We ordered two different things and decided to share. I had the Lobster Poutine (an Ottawa "Locovore" favourite that was recommended to me on numerous occasions) and my boyfriend had the croissant with the lobster mousse. The lobster poutine was served over delicious fries and paired with a creamy sauce in place of the traditional gravy. This is not the kind of thing I would order as a full meal again. While it was delicious, it grew to be a bit much. The cream was so SO heavy and just a lot for lunch. I found myself loving every other bite, and not enjoying the others in-between. I would get it again as maybe a side, and ask for the "gravy" on the side as well in order to monitor my portion. The lobster mousse was delicious and much more appropriate for lunch. Light, with full chunks of lobster and served on a flaky croissant it was wonderful. There were lots of inciting items on the menu and I can't wait to go back. I hope to return sometime when I don't have to teach dance afterwords (lobster poutine, thou art a cruel mistress), when I can browse the menu more thoroughly and when I can compliment my meal with a nice glass of wine.

Yelp
We tried their open face pork belly sandwich. The pork belly was cooked just right and it melted in your mouth. It was delicious! The shrimp risotto was cooked perfectly and the lobster poutine was to die for!!!

Yelp
Try the cod on rice pilaf. Gently battered & spiced. Both nicely done. Excellent staff. Summer salad nice presentation with subtle touches and flavours. Staff & Terry want to please, and they do. The sophistication of French with a homey Newfie touch.

Mario G.

Yelp
We came here on a recommendation and though it wasn't at first what we were expecting, it was comfortable. We had the duck confit and braised short rib, started with a seafood chowder. The duck was moist and tender, but the skin wasn't too crispy and there was a layer of thick fat under most of it. The short rib was terrific and the sauce was awesome. The chowder was probably one of the best I have ever eaten. Duck: 6.5/10 Short Rib: 9.5/10 Chowder: 9/10 The greeter and the service was spot on. A very cozy little restaurant that I am not certain has the ambience or privacy to warrant huge prices, but the food does its part.

Yelp
It's a busy Friday night and a few friends called me to go to a restaurant with them called Petit Bills. I've heard of it before but I've always kept it at the back of mind as a place I've heard is great but haven't adventured to try it. When you walk into Bills, it's dark and intimate and has a French feel to it. Decor is classic and slightly outdated but well kept. Our server, Laura, was complete professional and you could tell she knew both the food menu and drink menu to heart. She even knew what beers would be nice to pair with our meals. I ordered the lobster poutine and bills organic beef burger. The poutine had thin crispy fries and were smothered in a mascarpone cream sauce and fresh, FRESH lobster....delicious. It's very rich and filling. As my main, I ordered the burger. The owner told us that they only season the beef with salt and pepper. It's simple but amazing and it felt genuine if that makes any sense. I'm glad I came here to finally try it and I'm even more happy that I've made another reservation next week Enjoy!

Yelp
Took my wife here for our first anniversary and thought it was a cute little place. The food was Not what we had hoped for, going in with high expectations. My wife enjoyed her lobster poutine but was let down by her main, as was I (steak frites) The real let down of the evening was the lackluster service. far too casual, and borderline neglectful. There are pleanty of hot spots to pick from in Westboro, sadly we will not be returning to this one

Yelp
This is a lovely little local place. Outstanding food, and you can really feel the love when you walk through the door. The owner is very welcoming and cares about the customers. Outstanding.

Yelp
My fiance Jeff and I came here for Valentine's day dinner. We made our reservation 6 weeks ahead as Jeff heard good things about this place and really wanted to check it out. We also saw that they did private dinners and we were also looking for a venue for our wedding, so perfect, we would go on Valentines day, check out the food and the venue. The venue itself was cute. Nothing fancy, but I liked our table next to the window. We had a 5 course meal (one course was a sorbet which I don't know if that really counts as a course). We started with the bisque, which was gritty like as if the shells were left in and blended up, then had the duck carpaccio which was bland and simply covered up with some overpowering compote. The sorbet was well sorbet. For the main, Jeff had the steak and I had the cornish hen. Jeff said his steak was cooked a perfect med. rare. And for dessert he had the trifle which was good, but really nothing to write home about. Service was ok. Now you are probably wondering why I only gave this place 2 star - the problem was my dishes. First of all we called 6 weeks prior and we asked if they could do gluten free as I have Celiac disease. They said it was not a problem. We confirm this again 1 week prior. We were seated by the owner and then our waitress came by to take her order. When I asked about what was gluten free, she had to go back to the kitchen to make sure they had something. I was surprised no one made note of this and told her about my request ahead of time. For the dessert, she said they would come up with something!? But everything else was ok on the menu. I was a little worried about the bisque and only had a couple bites. I didn't like it anyways. When the main dish arrived I was really upset. First it was 1/2 a cornish hen which had barely any meat on it (they should've said 1/2 hen instead of just hen on menu) so I felt ripped off. Then when I started to dig in, I realized they sprinkled BREAD CRUMBS all over my dish!! Were they purposely tried to get me sick??? I waved over the waitress who said "oh yes that is bread crumbs....." I then reminded her that I have Celiacs. He blamed it on the kitchen and said she'd get me a new plate without the breadcrumbs. Such a blatant mistake made me wonder if there was gluten anywhere else in the dishes that they overlooked. How could everyone, the kitchen, the expediter and the server miss that?! Then for dessert they served me a flourless chocolate cake. It was sickly sweet and had so much cayenne that it was inedible (they forgot to mention that it was a cayenne chocolate cake or else I wouldn't have ordered it). So dinner was $99 for the 2 of us, plus drinks and tip, so about $150. Was it worth it- NO. I was left hungry and worried that I ingested gluten. It is a horrible feeling worrying during a whole meal if you are going to be seriously sick. If you say you can accommodate gluten free, then do it. If not JUST SAY IT!!!! I would've gone elsewhere had I known. Needless to say I will never return and we immediately scratched this place off our tentative wedding venues.

Yelp
Awesome experience! I was able to call ahead to get an immediate table for 6. Service was as courteous and friendly, and as they explain in the menu, you're made to feel like (neighbourhood) family! They've got a great variety for mains without much overlap or making it seem overwhelming - good for the indecisive. Our food was delicious and timely served. We'll definitely be back to try out the rest of the excellent menu!

Yelp
I wanted this experience to be great and in some ways it was, but not perfect. I had "Skrei cod", which a quick google told me was a special cod found as part of a great Norwegian migration of the fish. The season peaked, they said, in January/February. I had it on June 2, so that might explain it. It came with pea risotto, which was creamy and perfectly done, surrounded by a wall of thinly sliced English cucumber, keeping out a moat of lemon cream broth, which was also excellent. The small cross-section of cod, however, was quite dried out, to the point of being chewy. Another of our party had the (special) stuffed salmon wrapped in prosciutto, which was in a similar state, although the portion was quite generous. We also had the duck leg confit, again, somewhat dry for a confit, so the current theory is that the kitchen may have tried to crisp the skin by broiling briefly. Not sure, but dry it was. Overall, we still enjoyed the meal. A lot of work and thought had gone into it, the accompaniments were great, the garnish (micro greens) attractive. It felt like we were just outside the grasp of a great meal. The service was pleasant and well done. One unusual thing about Petit Bill's is that sound seemed magically magnified. We think because the room shape was long and narrow(ish), and the walls were hard. When we left into the road noise of Welllington Street, it felt like such a relief. An odd thing, but a real one. Maybe sound-damping material one the walls? The music wasn't blaring or anything like that, it was just hard to hear anyone speak, including our server. Oddly, the narrative claimed a Newfoundland influence. Didn't see it. No cod tongues, no fish n brewis, cod fresh (?) from Norway... there was Screech in one of the cocktails, maybe that was it. Overall, OK, but not great.

Yelp
I tried to go once to order for take away, but was denied service "you are better off going to the bagel store" . The restaurant was visibly empty but the owner said they were very busy...

Yelp
I've been searching for a decent non-alcoholic beer for a long time, so I was excited when I saw that Petit Bill's carries an Erdinger non-alcoholic white beer. The service is awesome too !

Yelp
My husband and I went there last night. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was fabulous! They start you with fresh bread and the butter of the day (it was honey Dijon). I don't usually eat bread or buns when I go out but I couldn't resist it this time. I started with the soup of the day (it was butternut squash) and it was very good. My main was to die for. I had the salmon with lobster ravioli. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the portion was just right. My husband had the burger with lobster poutine (I tried the poutine and it was delicious). He really enjoyed his meal as well. I wish I had room for the dessert because they all looked heavenly. We would definitely go back.

Yelp
We were celebrating a birthday and came here for dinner last night. Everyone enjoyed their food, the atmosphere was nice, and the servers were very good too. Not only did owner come by to make sure everything was okay, he came by a second time to offer birthday wishes. It was a good dining experience.

Yelp
Table was wiped with a dirty cloth, Diet drink came with a lime that had been cut long before. Meal of fish and chips was good especially the fries, steak and frites was very good. Service also very good.

Yelp
I have been to Petit Bill's several times and have always found it classy with great service. The waitress was very friendly and helpful suggesting our entrees and later on the owner came by to say also. You don't always find that personal touch at restaurants these days. I had steak and frites and both were perfectly done. You can always count on Petit Bill's for a satisfying and well done meal. Again you can't say that for every restaurant these days!

Yelp
I've been to Petit Bill's many times, sometimes just for drinks and sometimes for meals. I've enjoyed it each time. Staff is friendly, cocktails are great and the food is wonderful.

Yelp
What a great little restaurant, nice atmosphere and wonderful food. They have a lobster poutine on the menu that's to die for (I know, it sounds funny but it's great!) My wife and I have been several times and really enjoy ourselves, the service is great, the prices are reasonable, a nice night out all around.

Yelp
We went to Petit Bills a while back and had an absolutely amazing lunch. My husband and daughter are big seafood fans the lobster poutine won them over. It is very rich though so you may not need an appetizer with it. I had the burger which was fabulous and the overall experience was great. Service was attentive and it isn't a big restaurant so you have that wonderful small town feel to it. Plan on going back in November to celebrate my sister's birthday.

Yelp
Always great food, fun place with real down home service. We love this restaurant, for lunch it has a menu not to be missed and for dinner - out of this world. And if you like fish (not just salmon) this is your go to p,ace.

Yelp
Great food. Great service. The wine list is one of the best. Good for a dinner or you can sit at the bar and have a drink. The owners are always there, and the service you receive is impeccable. The menue changes regularly, but we have never been disappointed. There is a clear emphasis on sea food (the owners are from Newfoundland), but there are other choices available too.
