We went to visit the Christmas market in the Mayors Plaza and the hotel was in the best place possible. In a fabulous little area of quaint streets and shops but a stones throw away from the larger more modern side of the city. A short walk to the hop on hop off bus stop which made seeing the city very easy.||The staff were great - really helpful and friendly. Offering advice on buses and transport and looking after luggage after we checked out.||The room was small but absolutely ideal for what we needed. The bed was really comfortable and the pillows just perfect. The bathroom had a large shower which was great, and the room had plenty of storage and a safe. We were on the fourth floor so no noise from the streets below ..... and there was a lift.||The only criticism I have was there was a kettle but no tea or coffee available. This could well have been an oversight and to be honest we didn't query it as we weren't there for very long.||On the whole I would highly recommend this hotel and if I am ever in Madrid again I would certainly stay here.

Fantastic location. Friendly staff. That is it.||We have stayed in other 4-star hotels around Spain, and the rooms fall short of a 4-star standard. ||Rooms are dated. Bathrooms leave much to be desired. Cracked toilet seat, yellow grouting. Very poor lighting. ||Breakfast is in the basement. Does not feel appetising, we only had coffee and ate elsewhere. ||Feels more like a 2-star hotel or a dorm room.

Because this sounds like hyperbole, I almost hesitate to tell the truth: This was our best hotel stay ever.||||The location was perfect, almost adjacent to Plaza Mayor and Puerto del Sol, with major cultural destinations a short walk in different directions. (It can get loud and frenetic there, so if you’re looking for total quiet, this may not be for you. But it was not loud in the room and that vitality reflected the popular location and access to good food and culture.)||||The price was phenomenal — we booked months in advance — for a room that was stylish and spacious for world-city hotels and impeccably clean. That affordable price also included a tasty buffet breakfast with very good variety and quality offerings like Spanish ham.||||The staff was exceptional — all helpful, friendly and kind. when I asked where to find a taxi for our early flight the following morning, they booked the taxi and packed us a picnic breakfast, since we were leaving before the breakfast opened. ||||I know how it sounds to say the stay was essentially perfect, but this one was. We have had great stays in many cities, including London and scores in New York. But never one this good, and if I didn’t say that, I wouldn’t be telling the truth.

The hotel is in a great location. Close to attractions, restaurants and the metro. There is only minimal noise heard, but that's what you get in a major city. The staff are fantastic, very friendly and helpful. There is great variety at breakfast, and it is fresh and tasty. One thing we didn't like is the opaque glass between bathroom and bedroom. It doesn't supply much privacy at all whilst using the bathroom.

The location is fantastic! None better. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. The furniture is plastic chairs and a small table. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is good. The four star rating does not reflect the condition of the hotel or its amenities. The reception area is cluttered with boxes and electrical equipment. Mattresses were stored in the hallways for most of the week we stayed. The carpets are worn and torn in places. The beds are uncomfortable and the mattresses are lumpy and noisy. There is no coffee/sugar/milk in the rooms for coffee. One must ask for these at the desk. Coffee is served in paper cups. I would stay there again, but only for the location. Many three star hotels I've stayed in are much more appealing. The paintings on the walls look like spiders coming out from behind the curtains! Management needs to pay more attention to the overall condition and amenities. The hotel has great potential. Overall, my experience was pleasant.

The hotel is central and convenient for walking to the Reina Sofía Museum (1.4 km), the Prado (1.3 km), the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum (1.1 km), the Royal Palace (900 m.), the Almudena Cathedral (800 m.). The hotel prides itself on being historic being the oldest (over 400 years in business). It's just a pity that all these years have passed in vain, so much so that some employees allow themselves to behave inurbanly, of a coarseness and a primordial incivility, with customers. This is the case of an arrogant and rude attendant. And unfortunately, there is no need to even point it out because, while in other hotels in the world such a resource would have been instantly fired, unfortunately in this hotel they square around so much vulgarity. Too bad! I don't recommend you to go there.

Really can't fault this hotel. Location is fantastic, rooms are clean, spacious and we'll maintained. Breakfast is plentiful with good choice, WIFI is free and works well and staff are helpful and polite. We will return next time we are in Madrid.

Yelp
Great location and excellent staff who want to make your stay great! The location is excellent. Close to everything and right in the center of Madrid. The room was gorgeous! We had terraces overlooking the cute street below. Loved the oversized walk in shower. But the best part was the helpful staff at the front desk. She gave us excellent recommendations for dinner and entertainment in the area and not just for places that she was booking for us. Genuinely helpful, knowledgable and very pleasant. We had a wonderful, romantic stay at this top notch place. Enjoy!

Yelp
We looked at reviews on Booking.com and chose to stay here for a few nights at the end of our trip based on these reviews. Our room was on the second floor but felt like the basement. It was dark, musty smelling, had torn wallpaper everywhere, mold in the bathroom and was not worth the cost we paid (over $200.00 per night for a standard room). The breakfast that people raved about in the reviews consisted of watery eggs, fatty ham, fried rice from the freezer and hard pastries. The coffee was from a machine that you had to stand in line to make yourself and with a room full of guests it was difficult to keep running smoothly. The staff was nice enough but when asked to move to another room we were told they were booked up and didn't see a room opening up any of the 4 days we stayed there. The location was good, although noisy but that's to be expected in the center of it all. We cannot recommend staying here until they renovate and make it worth the cost.

Yelp
I give 5 stars to the staff specially Lara and Joanna, this 2 girls go above and beyond of professionalism! Cleanliness excellent, location incredible everything incredible, pet friendly the only bad thing is the breakfast and the service there, I came with my dogs and asked in a really bad manner to leave my dogs in the room, is incredible being a pet friendly that they asked me that!!! I found near the hotel a told of places where they let you take breakfast or dinner inside with your dogs, please go to the crepes in the back of the hotel or Rollo Ocho to dinner there, just delicious this two places and accept dogs inside!

Yelp
A little Gem right in the center of town, Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. Sandra at the reception was wonderful , very helpful and pleasant. The other two gentleman at the reception were very helpful too. Our room was ready upon arrival at 11.30 am, that was indeed a nice surprise. The room was a bit small, even though we were on the first floor, we did not hear any street noise! They offer free bikes, a nice gesture! The most wonderful shower to be had.

Yelp
Not worth the money. Great location but hotel staff and room maintenance show no pride in their trade. Lights were burnt out, air condition was broken. Free coffee service in the lobby was was out of order for 3 days without and alternative offered. Rooms are not made up after 3.30 because they don't have staff? The decor reflects nothing out of it's history not does it match the location. Too sad.

Yelp
Very Inflexible I have been planning a Spain trip and accidentally booked two rooms for the same night. My husband noticed when I showed him the plans that the 2 hotels have similar names. (I wish I could say I never make mistakes in the online booking process but that isn't true.) I reached out to the hotel in April to request a cancellation and an exception to their policy for a room booked for June. I was hoping that they would understand that we all make mistakes and knowing that there is plenty of time during the high season. But they have been 100% inflexible. I am paying $138 for a hotel room that I can't use and has now totally soured me on this hotel. Perhaps there is a homeless group that could use the room for the night?

Yelp
Reasonably priced hotel in an excellent location in relation to all attractions and transport infrastructure. Modern rooms with internet access in all which is free. I did not eat here. Found the staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again. Recommended for couples

Yelp
This hotel was excellent. Do a great typical spanish Breakfast, and have a coffee machine which makes the best lattes ever! the room was gorgeous, and the shower IS AMAZING! really fab showers, probably the best shower in the world. You had a laptop in the room, with net and a large TV with all the spanish channels. Beautiful place to stay, with a very comfy bed! :)
