Yelp
Annie, thank you!
The customer service at Petit Soleil is spot on and it clearly starts from the top down, beginning with Annie, the owner. The sparkle of this lovely lady exudes from her pores and is carrying on the legacy of her parents who owned and ran the property prior to Annie and her husband taking over the reins in the last year or so.
When my girlfriend and I decided to visit San Luis Obispo, finding a place to stay took the priority. Walkability and price were our two most important driving factors and how we settled on Petit Soleil. But it was customer service, quality breakfast and cleanliness that absolutely stuck out to us and why we agree we made a good decision on picking this charming little spot.
So for two fit women, the walkability to main streets, the mission, wandering of surrounding neighborhoods, Thursday night Farmers Market, restaurants, wine bars, etc. was perfect. Not a bad area, totally felt safe, all good. As a few Yelp reviewers indicated that this B&B is located on a busy street, indeed it is, but having a room ourselves that actually was closest to those busy streets, the sound was not a problem to us in the slightest. Traffic settles and slows around 10-11pm and then all is relatively quiet.
We paid about $1000 for our four nights in a room that included one queen bed and a trundle. I personally slept on the trundle and it was remarkably more comfortable than I expected. Firm, not lumpy. I am 5'7 and not a small person and found happiness on the trundle. The room was very clean and void of dust in all those spots one hates to find dust in a hotel ...light bulbs, bed railings, window sills, etc. It has charming touches like clean lace curtains, a bright floral shower curtain, crisp white quilts. For having the charm of an older spot, the room and property have been shown lots of love.
The breakfast that comes with the room is quite nice. A daily sampling of fresh pastries are served and you then can choose from one savory or one sweet hot breakfast item (like blueberry pancakes or a quiche). This is not self serve, but we thought the portion sizes were quite ample. Equally at night, for their happy hour, you can select from several whites or red, in addition to a beer or two. This part of the stay is not why we selected Petit Soleil, but a bonus.
Annie and her spouse Rob, in addition to Dante, Rachel and all the other lovely staff members who are present at breakfast, check-in, helping with bags to room, cleaning off tables at happy hour, conversing with guests....genuine, friendly, warm, helpful, kind at every single guest touch point. These owners and this team are the reason you should choose this property when visiting SLO. They will make you feel appreciated and welcome in a way that makes you feel you made a good investment in your decision to stay at Petit Soleil. I would highly recommend and would stay again in the event I am in the area in the future.
