I’ll start with the positives: the location is amazing and we were within walking distance of everything we wanted to do/see within the neighborhood. There is a pretty hearty breakfast provided each morning, which is nice. The room we had was very spacious and quiet and we had lots of space to hang things and spread out within it. The pool area was quite refreshing after a long day at the temples. Also the staff were lovely! They really tried hard to meet our needs, even with big language barriers. There is also a sign indicating they offer fair wages for ALL of their staff, which we interpreted as they split any and all tips evenly. ||Now for the negatives: We spent 5 nights at this hotel, so obviously it wasn’t horrible or we would have left early... but my first complaint is about their lack of responses to our emails, facebook messages, instagram messages/posts and our attempts to contact them through bookings.com. We were trying to extend our stay and also book a ride from the airport. Every message we sent went unanswered. Upon check in, the man at the front desk said they got our messages but were too busy to respond. What?! How do you run a hotel like that?! Other reviews confirm we are not the only people this happened too, and I heard another lady mention it when she checked in a couple days later. ||While our room was large and spacious, it also housed heaps of mosquitoes and we needed to use bug spray during the night. Without the AC running, the room gets very stuffy and I suspect that is when they infiltrate. Once they’re in, it’s hard to get rid of them. We understand the climate in Siem Reap plays a part, but it was a bit too much. ||One morning we wanted to see the sunrise at Angkor Wat and had been told upon check in that if we told the staff before 10pm the night before that we needed a to-go breakfast, they can accommodate us. We did just that and when we got up in the morning at 4am to make the trek, the man sleeping on the couch at the front desk - who I can only assume was security - informed us that the 2 packages of food on the counter were NOT in fact for room 9... which was us... so there was never any breakfast left for us. Or maybe there was and the man was mistaken. Either way, we had to buy food off the property. ||The staff were really lovely and I know they try hard to help out, so they deserve more than 3 stars. But the other things were just too weird/negative to give any more stars. ||Also FYI - negotiate a tuk tuk to Angkor on your own. The hotel quotes $7-10 more than the drivers want. We let the tuk tuk drivers tell us their prices and agreed on the spot.
