What an amazing winery! We booked a tasting and tour of the winery from their website. Urban took us through the vineyard and even allowed us to try different grapes from the vine. It was a wonderful, in-depth look at the complexities of the wine making process- and the experience and craft is obvious when you taste the wine! Urban is funny and kind and we had a great experience. Bonus: we took 5 bottles of wine & 3 bottles of brandy home to the US via check-in luggage on Delta Airlines. The wine was boxed & packed by Urban on the spot and it made it home in pristine condition. Highly recommend!

The best wine tasting of all time. We've been welcoming by the owner who take a long time to explain all wines he makes on the winery. 6 wines tasting, a wonderful board of meats and a one hour of experience and knowledge ! Thank you so much for this experience. We'll come back as soon as possible !

You can see why this place has 5 star reviews. The owner, Urban, is such a welcoming and friendly host who speaks impecible English. We had a short tour around his cellars before starting the wine tasting. The pours were very generous and the meat/cheese board was delicious. The wines themselves were all amazing, all very different to each other. We were a big fan of the zelen, a wine distinct to this region, and also really liked the orange wine (called so due to its colour not the flavour!). We ended up staying there for a few hours, talking, eating and drinking. It was a very relaxed atmosphere and a very enjoyable afternoon. We bought some wine to take with us for the rest of our trip! Thank you Urban! Tours are from 1PM. Call up beforehand to check if there's space though. We walked from Vipava but you can cycle there too (although after a lot of wine tasting this may be slightly dangerous). Vegetarian options for the snacks were available. We thought we were going to visit loads of wineries in one day (as we have done in other wine regions) but we ended up only visiting two because it was so nice just speaking with the owners (and other guests) and chilling at each one for longer.

AMAZING! We’ve we’ve had many wine tastings Experiences. By far, this one was one of the best tastings we’ve had. Attentive, informative, personable, and most of all – delicious! The atmosphere is beautiful and the wine is truly great. Highly HIGHLY recommended. We can’t wait to go back!

Amazing EXPERIENCE!! Wines were presented in English to foreigners and Slovenian to locals. Flavors were explained. Owner Urban is the 8th generation of this family of wine producers and you can feel the history in this place. Meat platter was of high quality and a decent portion to accompany all different wines during the tasting.

Wine-tasting that felt like a visit to a good friend’s place. We spent over two hours, with good food (nice cheese and home-cured meats), good company (Urban and the other guests) and great wines. Those made with local grape varieties were quite unlike anything we had tried before. It was hard choosing our favourites and thus which bottles to bring along, so we just went for “all of them”. The vinjak deserves special mention - that stuff is divine! Normally bringing kids along to a wine tasting is a bit of a challenge, but in this case our kids enjoyed themselves too. Urban served them grape juice, we all toasted and the kids enjoyed that they could be part of the whole experience. They played outside a bit, it was all just so relaxed. Worthy of all the five star reviews so happily adding another one!

We had such a great time at this winery! Urban, the winemaker himself, personally did our tasting and sat with us in the cellar from 1778. He was very personable AND his wines were delicious. The snacks he provided were also top quality. We could have spent all afternoon there. Highly recommend!

I would almost say that visiting this winery for a tasting is a must if you are in the area! The owner is so kind and hilarious, it felt like he was sharing his wine with us as friends. All of his wines were unique and were great, we wish we were able to get more! We also had the charcuterie board (they dry the meats in their backyard), which has been one of our fondest food memories even after a month of traveling in the area.
