My daughter and I received a voucher for Pettigrew Tea rooms as a gift. We absolutely loved it. The staff were wonderful, both the sandwiches and cakes were gorgeous and the atmosphere was amazing. We thoroughly recommend. Thank you 🤩

My boyfriend and I visited for our two year anniversary after reading good reviews. We contacted the tea rooms prior to visiting to see if we could change the sandwich option and they were very highly accommodating as the chef makes the sandwiches fresh - can remove and add anything to the sandwiches. The food was delicious! We ordered the chicken and stuffing, ham and roasted veg sandwiches. It also consisted of two scones (cranberry and white chocolate for my boyfriend and a plain one for me), two gingerbread men, chocolate fudge and two mini mince pies. We were both stuffed and still had a cake slice each to choose from the counter!! We were able to get more hot water for our two pots of tea which is great for a cold day ☺️ The waiter was very friendly and polite - explained the menu very well and was happy to answer any questions. Would highly recommend if you’re visiting Cardiff for the day.

What a fantastic place. We had an afternoon tea for five there. We've had quite a few at different venues, but this is right at the top. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The sandwiches are made with a variety of fresh breads, and the fillings are very generous. We had a very enjoyable time and would recommend you try it out.

Lovely little tea room in the park. Lots of variety of options. We tried the chocolate cake, berry cake, and tea. Delicious! The cream in the berry cake was particularly great. Will definitely return if we visit Cardiff again. Shout-out to the staff who were so lovely and attentive even during the weekend afternoon rush.

This place is so cute! Like a mini castle. The scones.. marvellous! The tea, well I didn't actually have tea but I bet it's the real deal. I had coffee and some scones (I know.. I know) I'll be back though. It's a small tea room with extra seating upstairs, all very relaxing. Definitely worth a visit.

Went for an afternoon tea. Indoor seating was fully booked so I needed to sit outside. I had a cappuccino and a piece of Victoria sponge. Nothing beats a good coffee in the park. Staff were friendly. My only complaint is that my cake was dry but other than that perfect place for a nice afternoon especially if you like good views!

Google
Probably the best afternoon tea I've ever had. Great selection of sandwiches, cakes, and teas. The scones are absolutely delicious and freshly baked, the cream and jam were authentic and veery yummy. I love that they had the choice of fruit or plain scones (I don't like fruit scones ever). The gentleman was so kind and accommodating, we had a brownie to go because I was too full to eat anymore! It was a delicious brownie even when I had the second half the next day. They got back to me really fast when I enquired to make a booking. The seating and rooms were gorgeous, really comfortable, and a very pretty calming setting. Can't wait to come back when I'm in Cardiff next!

Yelp
Would have loved to try this place but no idea how to get in. None of the doors seem to work nor do they have a sign anywhere saying how to get in. If you solve this mystery is the tea free? Good luck mate.

Yelp
Just as cute as the reviews said you would be! Lovely views you have of Bute Park and Cardiff Castle. You lure your guests with seating outside under tents and inside with your decor charm. Oh, and the treats you serve! Lovely traditional breakfasts and high tea for lunch. I'm in love with your ambiance as much as your sweet and savory treats!

Yelp
not sure if it was just a bad day or if i ordered the wrong thing but my coffee was not very good and the welsh cakes were incredibly dry/lacking flavour. the service was very friendly however and the cafe is in a great, scenic location. i would definitely come back to try something else but so far i am not impressed.

Yelp
This place was really charming and the perfect stop before/after a castle tour. We went in without reservations and were immediately seated. The staff was extremely kind and inviting. The lunch items were great. We weren't hungry enough for the afternoon tea set, but it looked delicious.

Yelp
Such a splendid way to spend a beautiful sunny day out in Cardiff. So much food for the price! We got the one per person option and got 2 whole sandwiches each which was a total of 8 1/4 sandwiches After that we got a scone, and an option of a slice of cake. I loved the decor in the house and the home-style but royal feel in the tea room. Where we were sitting there was a walk of the Cardiff castle just outside our window so it felt like we were in the castle being served tea! There's also so many fun things to do around the area before/after tea. We walked our full belies off by strolling through a nearby park where the tearoom was situated. I would definitely try to make it back here next time I'm in town.

Yelp
We got a reservation within an hour and had a lovely time with afternoon tea. £17 for one, £30 for two. A good price and more food than you can eat! They're used to people taking their piece of cake to go, for instance. Servers were lovely. Scones were amazing and fresh-baked! Would recommend to anyone

Yelp
Delicious tea set in a beautiful park. The tea shop is actually in the castle wall! We sat outside, looking into the park. So much food! Gluten free scone plus gluten free bread on the sandwiches and choice of 1 of 2 gf cakes! You're paying for the setting a bit at £20 for the tea inclusive of tax and tip, but only a bit, because you get a lot of food. A lot of tasty tasty food. Would absolutely go again, if in the area again.

Yelp
Wonderful spot for afternoon tea in Cardiff near Cardiff Castle on the edge of Bute park. The teas are excellent, sandwiches delicious, and the carrot cake an absolute moist delight! The clotted cream and jam were great but I found the scones a bit drier than usual. Other than that, excellent. We sat indoors, but there is also an outdoor seating area. I would definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
If you're visiting Cardiff and sightseeing at the castle then a visit next door to Pettigrew Tea Rooms (located at the entrance to Bute Park) is an absolutely perfect way to finish out the afternoon. If it's nice out, sit outside and enjoy a view of the park while you dine on high-quality, tasty fare. As a tourist from the US with limited access to legitimate afternoon tea offerings, I opted for the afternoon tea menu which included a generous amount of finger sandwiches, a hefty scone, and a slice of cake. Everything was delectable and despite wanting to eat everything, it was simply too much food for one person - come hungry! I stopped by alone on a weekday afternoon without reservations and had no problems getting a spot. The waiter was easily able to accommodate my vegetarian sandwich request. Overall highly recommend this authentic tea room with a beautiful atmosphere, perfect location, and absolutely delicious food and tea.

Yelp
Fabulous place for a treat. Gluten free choice was really nice. Food was delicious. Young staff were very polite & helpful. Park in Sophia Gardens and walk across the bridge and through the lovely gardens to get to Pettigrews.

Yelp
One of the Best tea rooms i have even been to. So Original, the outdoor garden and chairs and round tables, vintage china and cutlery. Every thing seems great in this tea room and its a perfect spot if you go at summer time. They have different types of tea and the great news is; not tea bags and a very nice selection of home made cakes and scones and of corse they offer breakfast and lunch.

Yelp
Great place to relax for an hour or two while checking out the park and the castle. It was a little chilly that day, so we sat inside, upstairs. I got the cream tea, which came with a pot of tea and two scones. The scones were pretty big and served warm, and though they were really delicious, I couldn't finish both of them. I liked both the plain and the raisin scone. Several of us tried the lavender grey tea, which was ok as a novelty, but not something I'd drink again. Very heavy on the lavender! One friend got the afternoon tea, which should have come with two sets of sandwiches, a scone and a slice of cake, but they let her substitute another type of sandwich for the cake, so she got 9 finger sandwiches total. Her favorites were the ham and the cucumber, and she thought the roast beef was just ok. The decor is very cute (though their tea sets included a Charles and Diana commemorative cup, which I thought was slightly weird) and service was relaxed and friendly.

Yelp
A free afternoon in the sun, a walk in the park, all that was missing was an ice cream! Luckily Pettigrew Tea Rooms had a good selection on offer (had to try two flavours), was easily accessible from just inside the entrance, and had friendly staff serving ice cream from a stand just outside the tea room.

Yelp
It was a beautiful place to have breakfast and tea. The employees were genuinely kind and helpful, which is more than enough to get a good review. However, the food was delicious and the tea was the best cuppa I've ever had. Great vegetarian options and I recommend the Welsh cakes. So good!

Yelp
This small tea-shop is an absolute gem! A real must visit if you are local or a visitor. Its about 2 minutes away from Cardiff Castle, at the main entrance gate of Bute Park. It is small, cosy and wonderfully well laid out. The outside terrace seating is great, but the inner room is wonderfully luxurious. Their carefully selected assortment of tea and coffee from around the world is a true joy, and their home made cake and soup is delicious. Prices very reasonable and service really friendly with an owner that is not only full of enthusiasm and pride, but he also is obviously genuinely interested in listening attentively to his visitors. That said, the service is actually fast, even when the place is full. A real winner!

Yelp
We held our wedding reception here and it was absolutely perfect. They went above and beyond what they needed to do to accomodate us on the day. We had prior booked some of the food as it was all to be vegetarian and vegan, so as we were having afternoon tea we chose some vegan sandwiches. When we arrived not only were these absolutely perfect, but the baker had gone out of her way to make vegan scones to go with the afternoon tea to ensure no one was left out. I cannot recommend this tea rooms enough. All of our guests had a great time, everyone was so full by the end. The service throughout was impeccable, although we are already semi-regular customers we will definitely be going back and urging others to do the same. Thank you! x
