We had a beautiful time at this hotel. Overall, it was great. We booked the room with the hot tub outside, which needs to be warmed with wood. This was a great experience. Over all the room was comfortable, but it can use a few makeover touches, such us cleaning the rug and fixing the lighting system. The Air con didn't quite work. I guess it's more of a heat exchange system. I wouldn't want to visit in the high heat summer months as just late November was just fine and bearable with the fan on. We also had the bottom room which should be cooler.
The hotel service by the front desk personnel, resturant and spa was great, as well as the porters. Big thanks to Mr. Henri at front desk, Thuleka at the resturant, Ritchie the porter and Andalie and Beauty from spa. However the house keeping can use some improvement and perhaps more training. When we ask for something for the room it took ages, if it was delivered at all, often times having to follow up 2 or 3 times.
The garden is kept, but can use some more lushness to fully match the ambience and name. Especially flowers.
The spa facilities are very nice, having a Finnish style sauna and Turkish steam bath, a warm indoor pool. As well as massage services from 9am to 6pm. The gym looks well equipped, although I didn't use it. They offer yoga class in the morning.
The breakfast was great having a combo of buffet and a la carte options. Fresh juices, fresh pastry, fruits, a selection of cheeses and charcuterie. Egg orders are a la carte. The coffee and tea were on par, pun intended!
The view is breathtaking on any direction either facing the ocean and golf course or the lafood side, can't go wrong. It's a great place for golf enthusiasts as it is part of a golf course.
Location is nice being away from the town centre, sorrounded with beautiful nature and with other attractions withing 20-30min drive ie. the elephant park and Plettenberg Bay. Overall I liked it. And would visit and recommend again.
