"Sitting in the middle of the Rhine near Kaub, this tiny medieval fortress was built by King Ludwig in 1326 to collect tolls from passing ships and became a lucrative stronghold for feudal lords. Its pointed southern fortification gives it a ship‑like appearance and helps protect the structure from winter ice floes; it can only be reached by a local ferry from Kaub and is roughly a two‑hour drive from Frankfurt." - Alexandra Karplus

Fantastic toll castle in the middle of the Rhein. You have to take a very short boar trip to get here. After that, buy tickets inside the casyle and you are free to explore. The castle is in good condition, although it gets flooded by the Rhein on occasions. Nearby is a ferry, so you can always come from the other side of the Rhein to Kaub.

Never intended to go here but accidentally saw this nice castle on the way to Cochem! It’s really nice and the historical importance quite excited the overall experience. I’m only sad that, I spent very less amount of time here. That’s when I thought to write a review about this castle. Do visit :)

Nice place to look from both sides of Rhein. Easy to do by ferry passsing just by this place.

Too many zombies, an old guy was on top of the castle he was pretty much chill and cool, he was anwar veteran and gave us alot of usefull information about the cellers in the bottom
