Review of the Reopened Disneyland Hotel at Disneyland Paris - AFAR

"A spooky Frontierland attraction built around a haunted, cursed-mine backstory involving mysterious deaths; keen visitors can discover a lesser-known graveyard detail where interactive effects—such as a faint heartbeat from a tomb—add an eerie, memorable flourish." - Blane Bachelor

An completely stellar attraction! Its similar to the Haunted Mansion's in America, but different in wonderfully thrilling ways as well! The best attraction at this entire park, no contest.

A cool ride. Very much like what I remember from the Haunted Mansion ride in Disney World in Orlando, Florida, USA, from the way I remember it from 31 years ago when I last visited. With the dancing ghosts at the ballroom, and the ghostly companion tagging along for the ride seen reflecting in the mirrors. I would have shortened or remove all the repeating stops along the ride though, which the friendly ghosts kindly allowed us then to continue with out tour.

I think it's incredibly fun. It's a great production. My 10-year-old son wanted to go in twice, but some kids are scared.

Well-written horror story and highly designed house! The effects and sounds are a good fit to enjoy the ride.

Phantom Manor is a classic Disney experience with a cool eerie vibe! 👻🏰 The theming and details are fantastic — more atmospheric than scary, so it’s great for all ages. The special effects and haunting soundtrack really draw you in. Not a thrill ride, but a must-do for the spooky fun and incredible design!

One of my long time favorites, maybe even THE favorite Disney attraction! Such an immersive experience with top class effects and illusions.

It’s one of the attractions with lower quests because it's a bit behind. We have been inside 3 times on 3 different days, I recommend visiting this house later on during the day. We never waited more than 3 minutes. As I'm older it wasn't so scary for me, but I appreciated the effects and overall atmosphere. There are no jumpscares or shakings with seats. I would recommend this attraction as well for kids.

Yelp
I suppose this is Disneyland Paris' version of the Haunted Mansion - and honestly, it felt scarier than the one in Disneyland! This ride is located in Frontierland. The ride system is familiar: slow-moving coffin-like vehicles, the classic stretching room intro, and spooky scenes throughout. But this version definitely amps up the creep factor. The skeletons looked more realistic, the phantom is genuinely terrifying, and the storyline is darker and more haunting. It still has that beloved Haunted Mansion charm, but with a more intense, eerie twist. Definitely worth checking out a especially if you like your ghost stories a little more chilling.

Yelp
I hate writing this one because it was the single ride I was most excited for. I'm a haunted mansion girlie. It's my favorite ride. So I couldn't wait to experience this version and story. I love the queue. The sight lines are beautiful of thunder mountain, the molly brown (boat), even of a character meet & greet (we were here in October so we could see Sally & Jack meeting with guests) the queue is also really just pretty. Love the initial room, it's so interesting bit the volume isn't high enough to hear over crowded honestly which as disappointing. The stretching room is also unique with the paintings all special to this ride and far more "serious" than in the American parks. It was all very cool. The loading dock is also really incredible and overwhelming. However... The pace of the ride is way too fast for me. It felt like it was moving twice as fast as the American parks which makes seeing the details very difficult. We had to ride multiple times to try to see everything and still felt like we missed out a bit. I also felt like the story got really lost. I knew the background before coming but my husband had no idea, and when I asked home after if he picked up on the sorry line and he had no idea. So the story gets lost. I also really didn't under the context of the last section in the town of "Thunder Mesa" why are we going through a town of people lit in green?! Are they ghosts? What is going on? The graveyard scene is also way more spooky and goolish-the dead are all skeletons and not "grim grinning ghosts"...just more spooky. It might legitimately frightens young children (but I loved that aspect) And yes, we did have some stops. Every time we rode. At this point I think it's just part of the experiences ‍ Just one more random thing, the doom buggies, feel very short. Mu husband and I are both under 6'11" and our heads were at the top. When we were ripped backwards, our heads were on the top edge which was uncomfortable. They also do not lower themselves which is just an odd thing to leave out. Or does raise itself though. So that's odd. As a Haunted Mansion stan, I was sadly disappointed by this. Definitely ride or at least once but it could be better than it is. But definitely ride at night-much lower wait and the views from the queue are incredible!!!

Yelp
This is the California and American versions of the Haunted Mansions- but on steroids!!! and much better. The spookier, the better (that's my mindset anyway lol) The Phantom Manor lives up to the hype! It triumphs its American counterpart and buries it 6 feet under... (creepy huh? lol) Insert evil laugh bwuahahahaha Okay but really, this was a great attraction- a must see! If you like Halloween and spooky things. As others have noted; it is darker than the Haunted Mansion. So, no little littles for this one. Sadly, I didn't get any pictures. I was too wrapped up in the experience to even think about photos. But that's okay.

Yelp
Hands down, my favorite Disneyland Paris attraction and my favorite Haunted Mansion variation! The Phantom Manor explains about a story of a lonesome bride named Melanie Ravenswood. A long time ago, she was to marry a suitor she deemed worthy, but her father, Henry Ravenswood, didn't approve of it. Sooner or later an earthquake destroyed everything and Henry and Martha Ravenswood perished in the earthquake. Later on as Melanie got ready for her wedding, a mysterious phantom lured her groom and hung him in the attic. Melanie got worried about where her groom was, she wandered the mansion singing songs of lost love, while the Phantom invited his spiritual friends to take over the mansion and bring down the house. After the foyer and stretch room, we go into the hallway, and then begin our ride. We see a huge thunderstorm outside and Melanie at the stairs. We see her again at the endless hallway and then a mysterious shadow at the piano. As we enter the seance room, Madame Leota summons the spirits of the Phantom, Henry Ravenswood, to crash the party in the ballroom, which reveals a turn for the worse. As we enter the boudoir, we see Melanie sad about her groom at her mirror. As we exit her room, we discover the Phantom and his skeletal dog. We go into a cave seeing skeletons and the singing busts that sing "Grim Grinning Ghosts" in a much jazzier tune. We then go into a ghost town which reveals the true fate of Thunder Mesa. After seeing the Phantom one last time, we encounter the mirrors and the ghost of Melanie asks us to marry her. We then exit back into the living world and through the wine cellar. This is, without a doubt, the best experience ever!

Yelp
Really an amazing ride and one of the best attractions at Disneyland Paris. In terms of the setup and ride mechanics, they didn't deviate from original Haunted Mansion much. You still get the large elevator with the stretching walls followed by a ride on tracked seats through the mansion and outside of it. However, they did change up the theme which really gave the ride a new feel and livened things up. The California and American versions of the Haunted Mansions feel spooky in a very lighthearted and fun way. In contrast, the Paris Phantom Manor really embraces a darker theme. A somber bride and a skeleton-like phantom character appear throughout the course of the ride. Replacing happy looking ghosts are decaying skeletons and angry looking demonic dogs. I really applaud the imagineers for their fresh take on this attraction.

Yelp
Easily my favorite attraction in the park, Phantom Manor builds on the black widow storyline premise of the California original. Each time I went through I'd notice something new. It's the small details that I happen upon which make me feel like an imagineer added this quirky touch just for me. There's one window shutter on the second floor as you're almost ready to enter which just can't stop flapping in a breezeless afternoon. Despite my best efforts, I kept losing track of how many clouded mirrors line the walls, which purpose is to perhaps remind the bride that although each suitor meets an early demise, she's never truly alone with a phantom just over her shoulder. I wish they had more themed merchandise besides the generic Haunted Mansion imports from the California attraction.

Yelp
Before going to Disneyland Paris, the attraction I was most excited for and absolutely could not miss on my trip was Phantom Manor. I had heard how much better it was then the Haunted Mansion at Disney World and was up for the challenge. Phantom Manor can be found in Frontierland and looks as if it's up on hill spookily looking down on the park. You walk through a forbidding gate and into the gardens of Phantom Manor. The outdoor queue walking up to Phantom Manor is so creepy and well detailed. You pass an eerie gazebo with a music box playing the Grinning Ghosts song and you wind through dead, overgrown grounds. You enter the foyer through the front door of the manor and then go into the stretching room. Following the fun presentation in there you move through the indoor queue to get onto the doombuggies. As you ride through the manor, each room seems to get more scary and there were a lot more skeletons than Haunted Mansion. It ends with the reflections of yourself in the mirror just before you exit. I wish I had rode Phantom Manor more than once as there are so many little details that you catch more and more each time. Don't miss it on your trip to Disneyland Paris!

Yelp
This is basically the Haunted Mansion from the other Disney's but with a few variations here and there. The theme is of a ghost bride, who I guess died on her wedding day? Well she's sad and haunting the mansion and will haunt those who enter. The line was decent, maybe 15 minutes and the ride was fun enough. This used to be my favorite ride as a child as I've always had a taste for the macabre. It's spooky and I love it. If you're of a fan of scary stuff, check this out.

Yelp
Being a California native and an Annual passholder for Disneyland my bucket list is almost complete visiting all the parks in the world. My last 2 were Paris which I did a few weeks ago (june 2019) and hong kong which is booked for November 2019. I was informed I needed to make sure I did the phantom manor in Paris. I was excited because I heard that this attraction had a solid story and boy were they right. I definitely loved this ride more than ours in Anaheim. The story made the ride fluid and was actually interesting. The manor itself is part of the decor of the land so that was awesome too. I enjoyed the ride very much but I had heard of the original version and was able to check it out on YouTube and I liked it better so that's the only reason it's getting 4 stars. If you come to Disney Paris...this is definitely a must do!! Happy yelping mis amigos!

Yelp
I'm a Disney fanatic and the Haunted Mansion has always been one of my all-time favorite attractions at both the Florida and California theme parks. If you are a Disney fan like me, then you've undoubtedly heard tales of how jaw-dropping the Disneyland Paris version, Phantom Manor, truly is. Guys, believe the hype! This is an INCREDIBLE version of the classic ride. I don't want to give much of the ride away, but it's fantastic. Like, worth the trip to France fantastic. Amazing special effects and a creepy, cool Wild West theme. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
This is another classic Disney ride. You pretty much have to come here whenever you're at Disneyland! It's not a very scary ride. If anything, it's more of a humorous ride. Unfortunately the ride kept stopping when we were on this ride. The content of the ride was pretty much the same but it was a bit different from the ride at the Disneyland in Anaheim. The stretching paintings were different.

Yelp
Obviously, this is the Disneyland Paris version of the Haunted Mansion back in the US. The Exterior is a little different and the path winding up to the top is also different. Taking the elevator down to the lower level, you also notice that the "moving" paintings are different with narration in French. The Doom buggies are the same but that's where the similarities end. Madame Leota is not the face in the crystal ball in the seance scene. Many of the characters and scenes are different as well. It still makes for a great first time experience and a refreshing one at that. Great ride and a different take. This is a definite must ride.
