This museum is pretty nice and has a wonderful collection of medicaments and pharmaceutical equipment. It covers the history of medicine from the antiquity to the 20th century, mostly in Europe but also a little bit in China. The most emphasis is put on the 16th to 19th century, as that’s when most exhibits were created.
This place is worth recommending also to the fans of maiolica and faience. There is a wonderful room exhibiting Italian, French, German, and even Swiss faience, all well explained in the audioguide. Swiss faience is uncommon in European museums, so it is worth taking a look if you are interested in pottery.
The museum shop was also very nice and offers thematic souvenirs like herbal tea or beeswax soap.
There are few labels in English but it didn’t inconvenience me in the slightest, as there is a free audioguide that you can take from the ticket office.
The ticket to this museum also gives you access to the anatomy museum in Basel.
