The owner is one of the most chill people you will ever meet in your life, really friendly and happy We have been there several times and for the better part the food has always been amazing. We would definitely recommend the sweet potato fries they are to die for! The only issue we have had is the last time we went the chips were really dirty as if the fryer hadn't been cleaned out properly and they were overcooked same as the bun of the burger was toasted way too long and was hard to bite into. In saying that will we be back? Yes we will be. Prior to this the place has been almost perfect.

A little local gem in Toowoomba located in Ruthven Street, excellent friendly service and a great selection of tasty burgers to choose from. Ingredients are locally sourced. Fully licensed with a great selection of wine, beer and spirits. We really enjoy the music, the relaxed vibe and playing chess. They have a great variety of live music acts on a regular basis.

A local gem 💎 I somehow never stopped by to grab a feed in this little restaurant, however, I was there the other day with the invitation of a colleague and I was blown away by the buzz and loveliness of this joint. Their great burgers 🍔 are only an excuse to be there. They allow local artists to play live music 🎸 in their little restaurant, there are records 🎙️ to sell and a chess board setup to have a game. The owner and the crew are super friendly and accommodating and verify of 3 nice beers 🍺 on tap. I had a great time over here and when the vaccination status is lifted I'll definitely stop by again.

Good old school classic burger joint🍔 all your greasy goodness served with friendly service from who I’d suspect was the owner. If I lived in Toowoomba I’d come here often. There is a pop up record store and band T-shirts for sale. Grab a brew and flick through some vinyls while you wait. Another note is there is hand sanitiser on every table and service area. If you are a germaphobe this could be the fast food store for you? I’ll definitely return to try another item next time I’m in town.

A fantastic culinary experience. Will have to make Phat Burgers my go to venue when passing through from Brisbane. The burgers are delicious and moist. The garlic in the mince makes them that just that little bit different. Wonderful ambience, and what's more. . . fully licensed with a great selection of tap beers and wine! 🍷🍻🍔👍

We ordered the phat standard and we loved it. The steak was just cooked perfect with lots of veggies. Will definitely be back to try other burgers on offer.

This has been a must do every time I go to Toowoomba I’ve eaten here more times then I can count and they never disappoint. Everything is fresh and scouring locally. Always friendly staff and they never miss a beat on the banter. It’s a true blue Queensland staple a must try if your in the area And yes the Burghoffer is huge.

Tasty burgers! Highly recommended. The in-store vinyl selection just needs a re-stock...slim pickings. T-shirt selection is a great touch though.

Yelp
The name says it all I got take away a burger and chips and neither myself or my partner finish them . If anything a little overboard in size.

Yelp
Phat Burgers, I've been told, are some of the best burgers in Toowoomba. They may have slipped in that time because when I visited on Saturday for lunch they were fairly standard. I opted for the mini Doctor (beef pattie, beetroot, mint yoghurt, fetta and rocket) while my dining companion opted for the standard Van Helsing (one of their best sellers). The buns were a standard white burger bun and the fillings standard. I don't mean to sound overly harsh but just can't expertly express in words how underwhelmed I felt by the whole dining experience. The service was patchy with a few orders being attempted to be delivered to our table before they realised it wasn't ours, and, to echo Nic M's sentiments, for the almost $30 we parted with for 2 burgers (one standard, one mini and one can of drink), I guess I expected more. The interior isn't particularly fancy and is reminiscent of a fish and chips shop my family used to visit regularly in Toowoomba when I was growing up. I will say, unless you have a fantastic eating capacity, opt for the mini size burger which is more of a standard size. The normal sizes are ridiculously big and could actually easily feed two adults.

Yelp
Burgers have been consistent and compared to many places around the country they rank pretty well. It's nice to have some different sauces and flavours like the pistachios on The Doctor. My main gripe is trying to read the menu board! But that's really just an "old man" complaint. Great chips and the drinks are nice and cold. I also don't like the fact that I try not to drink beer at lunch during work hours. If I ever get stuck up here one night I'll be coming back to wash the Van Helsing down with a gold and bubbly.

Yelp
If you're looking for a good priced burger experience then phat burger is where to go. The interior is reminiscent of the 90s and the soundtrack matches. Pricing: $9-$10 (called mini but is def regular size) $13-$15 (6inch burger - huge size!) We ate the traditional (steak) and the foghorn (chicken). Both were quality meats with no grissle/ fat on the beef. The salads and bread were all proportional to the meat. These weren't fatty or greasy either. Chips were thick cut, salty and a food serving size for 2 with the mini size. I have had better burgers, which I'd call gourmet, whilst these are hearty burgers at a great price that will remind you of those you had growing up (with some alternative flavours for a modern take). I'd highly recommend, as the service was very helpful, attentive and courteous and we had no complaints about the burgers. If you're from Brisbane these are definitely better than some of the inner city burgers.

Yelp
I came to dine here on the 7th of May 2016. Service was friendly and prompt and there was a very small amount of waiting time. I got the Redneck and my wife got the Phoenix. Both burgers were well put together but messy to eat, a small price to pay for such a good quality burger. Anyone travelling to or through Toowoomba who love a good burger should definitely try Phat Burgers!

Nic M.

Yelp
I don't like writing negative sounding reviews but the other reviews for Phat Burger are really positive and in contrast to my opinion. We tried the recommended burgers (Van Helsing and the Yakuza) neither were bad but neither were particulary good. Considering that the 2 burgers, chips and aoli and a drink cost almost 50 bucks you kind of want something special. The Yakuza burger tasted like salt and wasabi though to give credit the wagyu steak was cooked really well. The Van Helsing had the odd flavor combination of wasabi and beetroot and used cheap ingredients like iceberg lettuce. The owners are pretty whacky and managed to surprise us more than once with their strangeness. The interior of the place follows suit with odds and ends chosen chaotically like disco balls and fish tanks and booths that dont fit right. there isn't a theme to the venue though it's passable as a burger joint. Overall I'm being fairly critical because of the high price. It wasn't bad at all just I would have been happier spending 25 to 30 bucks max for what we ordered. I've spent 20 dollars on a cheese burger and chips in the past and being exceptionally happy with the value and just didn't get that here.

Yelp
Love this place. I'm from NYC and its like NYC street food. Burgers are huge (I got the small one)! Fries are crunchy and awesome.

Yelp
I don't think this place is really all that flash - especially when you compare it to the likes of Burger Lounge in Eltham, Victoria. The concept of this place is that they are offering a wide variety of burgers with different ingredients from your standard burgers. Great concept - just don't think it's really well executed. The burgers themselves, while tasty, appear and realistically taste like they're from the old-school Roadhouses of the yesteryear - the sort of place you'd drop in to while passing through on a 10 hour road trip. The burgers can be quite soggy from the ingredients, especially the Phoenix which became a rather sloppy mess. So all in all - tasty burgers, but I just don't think the quality is quite right and the atmosphere is a little off - though I can't quite figure what it is.

Yelp
Even better than Brodburger in Canberra, and Fergburger in Queenstown. Know that the buns are bespoke to each burger. Might just be the best burgers in the world.

Kimberly P.

Yelp
A burger here is a meal in and of itself! I had 'The Doctor' and it consisted of all my fave things: pistachio (pleasant surprise in a burger form) feta (I eat it at every meal) beetroot (kinda an Aussie thing, but I am a fan) rocket (we call it arugula) mayo (burger staple) Burger success! You can also enjoy a tasty cold beer here, or a glass of cab sav, which you can't do at most burger joints in Toowoomba. What are you waiting for?!!

Stephen T.

Yelp
Couldn't be more dissatisfied, ordered a burger advertised as a240gm Rib Eye Steak turned out to be 3 thin minute steakes on a soggy roll with small chips delivered 20 min late and cost $39.50. Never again.

Graham E.

Yelp
Great Burgers the best you will get in Toowoomba if your after a fast food always seem to use quality produce

Dan L.

Yelp
Best burgers in town - no doubt about that. Price is a bit on the exe side: $7 mini's (size of large burger elsewhere) & $10+ for normal (a good meal for a bloke who likes a decent size!)

Bobbs V.

Yelp
Funky funky funky - with fish tank for entertainment! Burgers were delish, hot chips crispy, golden and yummy with lemon aioli. Great food, good value in buzzard and friendly setting! I had the Yakura burger (mini) - odd sounding combo that tasted great - nicely hot horseradish! Husband demolished his HUGE Van Helsing - must have been good!

Henry S.

Yelp
Real nice burgers. Had the "standard". Came with delicious caramelised beetroot. Was $10 so a bit more than your average fish and chip shop, but they're also quite a bit larger. Staff were relatively friendly.

Keshona A.

Yelp
I go at least twice a week, totally addicted. Recommend to everyone because they have something for anyones likes and needs. If I had to choose between the van hellsing burger and getting laid, I'd choose the burger every time.

Rachel K.

Yelp
I feel very let down after my experience at PB, I had been so excited try these burgers! The burgers on offer on the menu sound amazing but when I finally got to bite into one the meat was way to gristly for my liking.

Marcus J.

Yelp
Best burger place I have been to in a long time. I got a Van Helsing and it was fantastic. The bun and the pattie were perfect, and all the ingredients were fresh and tasty. As others have mentioned the staff here are very friendly and the atmosphere is great. At 7 on a Friday night I did expect it to be busier, but prompt service is never a bad thing.

Clayton B.

Yelp
Average burger, bread roll could be better quality. Maybe it has such good reviews because people want to feel included in the phat burger experience. Either way phat burgers is a great brand that has done well promoting itself.
