Phelps Lake

My favourite hike - possibly ever - and I’m still thinking about it one week on. Every step was a delight and the overlook, and even the small trail down to the lake, was such great payoff. It was beautiful from every angle. We went in October and the foliage was beautiful, and the path a little snowy/sometimes icy. We saw three mule deer happily nomming away, and a few chipmunks. It was an easy enough hike but the real treacherous path was driving up to the carpark - definitely need a 4WD SUV!!

Hiked from death canyon trailhead down to this rock for cliff jumping! Hike was pretty moderate and the lake was beautiful. Water was a little cold but we still had a good time swimming. Would totally recommend

Really nice hikes of all kind to get there. Carry bear spray though. There were way too many bears for my taste mid june

Really nice trail. Well maintained, and very easy.

Quite possibly one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. An easy 1(ish) mile in. We saw a mule deer right off the path. We could hear the waterfall all the way across the lake. It was such a serene experience. The lake is goooorgeous! 100% worth the short hike!

We went for the longer hike, hiking up slightly and then down into the canyon where the lake is and then around the entire lake. It was about 10.1 miles total for us and about 63 floors of evaluation climbed. It was beautiful, well marked, and a fun hike.

Beautiful lake and I jumped off the rock! We did the hike from canyon death trail. Part of the trail heading down was steep. I’m not use to the altitude since I’m from NYC. I had to stop several times but it was relatively easy, well marked path, beautiful wildflowers!

This is a beautiful lake outside of Grand Teton NP, with several trail options leading to it and around it. Hikes range from 3 to 15 miles, and trailhead parking is best accessed from the Lawrence Preserve.
