SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM We contacted the hotel regarding transportation from the airport and was told to book our own taxi but the website says they have transfers. We get to the hotel and taxi driver charges us triple and would not let us out until paid. We get to the hotel and one floor is out of order, so we had to stay our first night in Greece in the heart of the slums of Athens...terrible neighborhood and views from balcony. We booked Phidias for the view and location so that was one evening lost. Then we lost a half a day on our second day switching back to Phidias. The website states they have printing and photocopying available, however the clerk would not readily help us print luggage tags for our cruise. After many so-called attempts she just gave up and said she could not do it. The hotel is nice when it is not out of order. The clerk was nice when things were going well, but was very rude when we asked for assistance. She even suggested that we walk, dragging our suitcases, for a 20 minute walk to the other hotel that first night, even though we knew nothing about Athens or how to get to the other hotel. We had to insist that she get us a taxi to and from the other hotel and have Phidias pay for it.

The thing about this hotel is its in one of the best spots in Athens within walking distance to everything, the sad thing about this hotel is the lack of experience the staff have which is no fault of their own but do to poor management. We had booked months in advance so you'd expect that when turning up well within the check in times they'd have a clue who we where considering we had also emailed them to confirm two separate beds, and if possible a balcony room. On arrival we were told there was no room available and after a while of playing with their computer they found a cellar room with no windows and a double bed for the night that was it nothing more available, with little choice we took the room as it was just for one night and we where planning to get home late anyhow so that wasn't such a fuss, they had promised the next day we,d have the correct room, anyway next morning we left that room after having to re pack our belongings and put them in the hotel storage for the next day, bare in mind were were staying for 9 nights, come around 4:30 that day we go back to the hotel and eagerly awaiting to hear our room was ready yet again nothing had been done they said give us twenty minutes and we'll have your room ready we sat outside waiting hot and bothered twenty minutes go buy nothing had even got started just chatting and laughing after confronting them I got told it would be done and if we wanted yet another free beer to which we declined the offer, once we finally got our key to find we,d been given a rear facing room rather than the promised front facing with balcony and yet again a double bed, I mean come on how hard can it be for two mates to get a decent room which we paid for and looked forward too, finally they gave us the poorest fold up bed which was about one inch thick mattress such a poor excuse I discussed this with them only to be giggled at and not understood, to be honest I felt sorry for the girl in the end as she seemed to not understand the significance in our anger, I feel this is always happens at this hotel as we witnessed it happen time and time again during our stay and the sad thing is its one of the best locations it could be soo much better.

I stayed at Phidias( for a second time) from 17-19 March 2025.I have to admit that I had a very pleasant stay. First of all, the location is perfect. You are at the centre of Athens and you can see plenty of the archeological treasure of Greece, just by walk. Also you are just a few metres away from Monastiraki market and many restaurants. Second, the hotel is clean, and the breakfast unexpectedly good.Third, the staff is polite and helpful. I didn’t give 5 stars, just because my room was small. Wi-Fi was ok. I paid almost 50 euros per night, which I think is an excellent price.Recommended, especially for tourists.

I booked one night at this hotel to be close to fiends who were staying nearby and to then fly back home the next day. When I landed at the Athens airport from Naxos airport, my super nice taxi driver sent by this hotel (I had reserved a transport) told me that there was a problem with my room. I then spoke with the hotel staff by phone and they said they would put me up in another hotel far from the area I needed to be to be close to my friends. Very poor customer Service that was not curteous or apologetic at all. I ended up cancelling that night and spending it with my friends at their Airbnb. The story is that the hotel was overbooked and under new management. This should have been communicated at least the day before and not 30 minutes before my arrival at the hotel.

We spent 3 nights in this hotel and no complain at all ! The receptionist ( both of them ) was really kind helpfull and nice with us ! Breakfast was enough also! Room was clean and tidy ! We changed it for a balcony one and also was a quick help ! And the location perfect ! Close to station and Acropolis ! If i go to Athens again i will choose Phidias Hotel !

We were referred to this location by a friend and due to a ton going on in our lives, I rolled with it and didn't do my due diligence like I normally do. That is totally on me and I will never do that again. One time off my game and we paid for it. The area is amazing! This hotel is so bad. ||Avoid this place! It's terrible.|1. We checked our luggage and went on a tour. We arrived back and we were informed that the key was missing and we could not get our luggage. That a guest took the key with them. There were four couples waiting to retrieve their luggage form this room. They don't have an additional key. No remedy or solution was given other then to wait. No idea where these guests were as a return time. They just give a key and no one tags or controls the luggage storage. ||2. They were trying to scam one of our friends by telling them that there was no electricity in their room and they would have to switch locations. We all as a group jumped in and I think they realized that was not going to work and changed the story. They do that and then charge you twice.||3. Our room had no air conditioning. We've traveled across Europe and are accustomed to the room AC's and understand the difference. This was not an expectation issue. All other rooms of the people we traveled with had a remote. Our room did not and it would not turn on. We were told no worries -tomorrow. Tomorrow came and it wasn't fixed and we were told come on this room is perfect. It's cooled down tonight. You're fine. We paid for AC and expect AC. ||4. The staff was rude. We did not encounter any of this with people in Greece besides the Phidias. Everyone else from restraurants and to the other hotel we stayed at provided great customer service and went above and beyond. ||5. The last morning I was getting ready and packing up and there was a bed bug. I took video and stood and use Google lens. We told the receptionist and she did not care at all.||There is nothing good about this establishment besides the location. Don't book here.

Stayed here in February 2025 while on a 5 day holiday to Athens. Myself and my child aged 12 loved it. Super hotel for the price with really helpful friendly staff. It is located in a really safe area with easy access to Thiseio, Monastiraki and Syntagma Square. We didn’t use the metro once, all the main tourist sites were a walkable distance from the hotel. Lovely view to the street from our really clean room which had a great en-suite bathroom. Had a great nights sleep here every night and a lovely breakfast each morning. Would 100 per cent recommend this hotel

Be very careful. Please look at other reviews of people who had the same experience. We booked Phidias for its location, but when we arrived they claimed there was an “electrical issue” on an entire floor and moved us to a worse hotel in another area — which we later found out they also own. That same night, we walked past Phidias and saw it fully operating. After checking reviews, we found many guests with the exact same experience going back years. It appears to be a recurring tactic: overbook a small, well-located hotel and redirect people to larger properties that aren’t full. If this happens to you, report it to your booking site and tourism authorities. This isn’t just bad service — it’s a recurrent fraudulent practice.
