I am overall very happy with our stay at Phidias. The minus: the double glazed windows work remarkably well at blocking the noise from the busy street outside. However there is poor noise insulation inside the hotel meaning. that you get waken up early by the people checking out early. But you'll be fine with earplugs or if you're a deep sleeper. The pluses: unbeatably great location. Breakfast is simple but varied. And customer service is great. Overall AMAZING value for money.

I am currently staying at this hotel and I can’t be more disappointed than this. It is a real skam. I already saw what was coming because I had read other reviews, unfortunately too late to cancel my reservation, since on Booking.com everything at the hotel seems to be just perfect, according to people. Well, it’s not the case at all. First of all, people at reception are not able to speak A SINGLE WORD in proper English in order to help you or give you basic information. I called them because there were some people at the hotel cafeteria just in front of the rooms with incredibly loud music at 1 am with no one from the staff complaining. They basically hung up on me several times because they could not understand what I was saying. I had to go out myself and tell them. In addition, the room is extremely narrow and there is barely space for three people, beds are uncomfortable and cheap, furniture is broken, and so on. Not really worth spending over 100€ per night, there are many other solutions which are way better and way cheaper. Do not waste your time on this one. Also, I’m literally horrified by reading the other reviews…

We stayed one night in room 203 to be very disappointed. We saw that the shower had no doors and was broken. We informed the front desk, but they had no other rooms. I asked for towels to soak up the water that I anticipated being on the bathroom floor. The towels were not delivered. The front desk attendant Marella said it had been broken for three days. This room should never have been assigned to a guest. It was not safe. We went out for dinner and when we returned, there were still no towels. We asked again and there was still no towels delivered. My friend tried to be careful as she stepped out of the shower, but a large vinyl strip came off of the frame and she tripped on it and slid on the floor and fell hitting her hip on the edge of the shower. This posed serious problem for people stepping onto the slippery floor. The next morning when I spoke with the front desk, Maria said oh don’t worry Madame the technician will come and fix the shower. Well that’s too late for us. She was not at all sympathetic to the condition of the room. She asked me twice when my friend fell indicating that she had not listened to anything that I said. This bothered me greatly and I had another reservation checking in later that week. Because of the attitude and the lack of interest in the problem, I asked if we could cancel and she said no. She continued to assure me that the problem would be fixed, but it’s too late for us. We already experienced the inconvenience and my friend fell. Maria’s lack of understanding and customer service made me hesitant to trust the Hotel to make good decisions. In addition to the air air-conditioning shut off three times during the night and was very hot. I reported this to booking.com and they were very sympathetic. They apologized for the problem and contacted the property. They said the property would get back to me within 48 hours, but that did not happen. Then they said it would be five days. And that did not happen. It has been two weeks and I’ve never heard from the property. In addition, I asked for an invoice on checkout. Moriah was not able to produce it after 20 minutes. The breakfast was not good and was actually the worst. I’ve had in Athens and I am there at least four times a year. There are so many good properties in Athens. I would not recommend this hotel and I did not want to return. They need a staff that is more sensitive to the needs of its customers.

We have just returned from four nights at the Phidias and it was truly awful.||I booked it in November 2024 for my wife's birthday. I contacted them and told them I wanted to book a double room with a veranda and a view of the Parthenon, we had stayed in 2006 and had a lovely holiday. They wrote back to me requesting a €125 deposit which I sent via bank transfer and they confirmed my booking in writing.||When we arrived at the hotel, the young lady could find no trace of our booking, or our deposit. I showed her the booking which I had printed off and a copy of the bank transfer. For half an hour we stood while she tapped away at the computer. She then told us there was no booking, at that point another member of staff appeared, more discussion, she then offered me a room with no view, I pointed out we had booked and paid for a veranda room with Parthenon view, she then said they had changed our booking. More discussion, she then gave us a room that she said someone else had booked ( I didn't understand it either). Furthermore we were asked to pay the balance, in full and the price, miraculously, had gone up. In hindsight we should have written off the deposit and just gone to a different hotel, of which there are many||When we got to the room, the safe, which was tiny, didn’t work, another trip back to reception. We then went out to eat, determined not to let this spoil our holiday. We have been to Athens several times and will go again but never to this hotel.|The next morning I was approached by another receptionist, asking if I had proof that we paid the deposit, again I showed her the written proof. |At no time were we offered an apology for the inconvenience.||The hotel itself was tired and dirty and it felt as if the staff had just given up. The breakfast was adequate but again, cleanliness was an issue. The rooms were neglected and barely clean, the towels were, well, I can't describe them so have attached pictures.||Avoid this place at all costs, it's awful, the only good thing about it is it's location and it could be a lovely hotel, if the owners cared.

The location was perfect! The staff was kind and helpful! Our only complaint would be that the shower didn’t have a door so the water got all over the floor. The AC didn’t work great, but we were there during extremely hot weather.

SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM We contacted the hotel regarding transportation from the airport and was told to book our own taxi but the website says they have transfers. We get to the hotel and taxi driver charges us triple and would not let us out until paid. We get to the hotel and one floor is out of order, so we had to stay our first night in Greece in the heart of the slums of Athens...terrible neighborhood and views from balcony. We booked Phidias for the view and location so that was one evening lost. Then we lost a half a day on our second day switching back to Phidias. The website states they have printing and photocopying available, however the clerk would not readily help us print luggage tags for our cruise. After many so-called attempts she just gave up and said she could not do it. The hotel is nice when it is not out of order. The clerk was nice when things were going well, but was very rude when we asked for assistance. She even suggested that we walk, dragging our suitcases, for a 20 minute walk to the other hotel that first night, even though we knew nothing about Athens or how to get to the other hotel. We had to insist that she get us a taxi to and from the other hotel and have Phidias pay for it.

The thing about this hotel is its in one of the best spots in Athens within walking distance to everything, the sad thing about this hotel is the lack of experience the staff have which is no fault of their own but do to poor management. We had booked months in advance so you'd expect that when turning up well within the check in times they'd have a clue who we where considering we had also emailed them to confirm two separate beds, and if possible a balcony room. On arrival we were told there was no room available and after a while of playing with their computer they found a cellar room with no windows and a double bed for the night that was it nothing more available, with little choice we took the room as it was just for one night and we where planning to get home late anyhow so that wasn't such a fuss, they had promised the next day we,d have the correct room, anyway next morning we left that room after having to re pack our belongings and put them in the hotel storage for the next day, bare in mind were were staying for 9 nights, come around 4:30 that day we go back to the hotel and eagerly awaiting to hear our room was ready yet again nothing had been done they said give us twenty minutes and we'll have your room ready we sat outside waiting hot and bothered twenty minutes go buy nothing had even got started just chatting and laughing after confronting them I got told it would be done and if we wanted yet another free beer to which we declined the offer, once we finally got our key to find we,d been given a rear facing room rather than the promised front facing with balcony and yet again a double bed, I mean come on how hard can it be for two mates to get a decent room which we paid for and looked forward too, finally they gave us the poorest fold up bed which was about one inch thick mattress such a poor excuse I discussed this with them only to be giggled at and not understood, to be honest I felt sorry for the girl in the end as she seemed to not understand the significance in our anger, I feel this is always happens at this hotel as we witnessed it happen time and time again during our stay and the sad thing is its one of the best locations it could be soo much better.

Beware! This hotel is running a scam. Very dishonest management taking advantage of the good location to scam tourists. ||||I booked it two months in advance. Got to the hotel and they claimed they had an issue and that they didn’t have a room for me. They gave me two possible “choices” 1- Go somewhere else 2- Go to another hotel owned by them, stay the night and come back the following day and the room should be ready||||The are basically charging people for the well located hotel and sending them to the other mediocre hotel, located in a really bad neighborhood, for the same (very high) price you paid for the prime location. ||||They would not refund part of the money or offer any other solution.||||Please search other reviews for the word “scam” and you will see this has happened many times before to fellow travelers.
