Phidias Hotel Athens

I had an especially enjoyable 3 night stay at Phidias Hotel Athens. It is located just far enough away from the city core to be away from the noise, traffic, crowds & hectic busyness of the city core, but close enough to walk to attractions in 15 minutes, give or take. It looks out on the lively promenade that leads to the city core's attractions & is lined w/outdoor cafes, a park & soccer field - it draws people of all ages to meet, enjoy a meal or drink, to just stroll & people watch, jog, bike ride, play soccer, walk to nearby places, or just hang out. This is also your view from the hotel rooms w/balconies. I looked forward every evening to watching this scene of people just enjoying life. I owe a special thank you to the receptionist/manager "G" for her exceptional Kenyan/Greek hospitality. She routinely went "above and beyond" to accommodate me and every guest at the hotel & truly deserves 5 gold stars! And although I did not have much contact with the day receptionist, she too went out of her way to ensure my taxi was ordered in time to board my ferry. I recommend it & will always try to stay at Phidias Hotel Athens when I visit. The hotel has an elevator, rooms are very clean w/comfortable beds, if lacking somewhat in storage (drawers/dresser). It is a very good value for this 2-to-3 star hotel.

Good location near Thisio metro and restaurants around... Pedestrian street towards Parthenon very busy and very nice... The hotel is small good .... Rooms small balcony very small but with great view .. The shower glass doesn't prevent from splashing the water out... Breakfast is good and homey...

Don't be late for your check-out, or they'll take your things out to the street! I have been traveling for over 30 years around the world, USA, SPAIN, CANADA, DUBAI, EGYPT, TURKEY, PORTUGAL, FRANCE, DENMARK, MEXICO, GERMANY, POLAND, ITALY, COSTA RICA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC,MORROCO, UK and more countries and I had never been treated so poorly as in this place; unfortunately due to an unintentional mistake on my part, these people took my personal belongings, invaded my privacy, and removed all my luggage, including all my valuables from the safe, WITHOUT MY CONSENT! They made up a story to try to scare me, making me believe they had brought the police to collect my things. the least they could doThey should have waited for me so that I could personally collect my belongings instead of invading my privacy. They don't care, they do not how to handle an overbooking for hours,,,Very poorly handled by the hotel staff and owners.It was a disrespectful act to take my personal belongings, including my medication and underwear, as well as my jewelry and vauables from the safe!!! So the safe is not really secure if the employees and the owners can open it and take your valuables whenever they want...!! In the other hand, hotel needs a lot of maintenance, the rooms are neglected, and the furniture is old. The staff tries to be friendly, but they are unable to get you a taxi. When I was forced to leave the hotel almost at night, I had to walk five blocks from the hotel and get a  cab by myself.... TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! and the included breakfast  every day the same! Eggs, eggs, eggs, with no options. If you stay more than 3 days, the food gets boring. There are better places for the same price... Booking this hotel was a big mistake... A huge disappointment. Believe me!! 30 years traveling around the world and and nothing compares to this terrible experience... I feel sorry for Expedia; they should remove them from their catalog.

The hotel was close to a metro station and the sightseeing of Acropolis. The rooms and the bed were okay. The service was excellent, especially the ladies from the reception. Huge thanks to the Kenyan woman Grace and Albanian lady Annetta!!

The first night they sent us to another hotel, 12 minutes from the hotel we reserved, in a drug sales area, dangerous, you couldn't walk. We left at dawn to another place, there was no taxi, we had to walk and some thieves followed us. All this happened because the hotel we booked with Expedia lied to us, they didn't have a room for us and they sent us to a dangerous hotel that was not the hotel we booked with you.

Loved Phidias Hotel in Athens. Location is very convenient close to the metro and to the Acropolis and Greek restaurants scattered across the street. Their breakfast was really lovely and worth it. I wasn't available on most mornings and Poppy would pack it for me always. Grace was very helpful in storing my luggage safely 🧳 before my flight since I had an early checkout to go to Eben Beach. Value for money!!

Our reservation was made many months ago and until the day before we called them and ensured everything was alright. When we arrived on the day and while we were still at the airport (just 1 hour before we get to the accomodation) they told us we never called them and refused to give us the room we were promised. Do not trust them!

Our stay at Phidias Hotel was disappointing. When we arrived early on August 29th, we were told there was a "technical issue" with our room. It turned out our room had been double-booked, and we were offered a taxi to Golden City Hotel, but the driver wasn’t informed that the fare would be covered, making us uncomfortable with the arrangement. The communication from the staff was confusing and unprofessional, and it took hours before we could access our room. The whole situation felt disorganized and ruined our experience.
