Amazing food and friendly staff in Quebec My friend wanted to try the smoked meat and turned out these were delicious. We love their poutine so much and we were def full haha Highly recommend

This is actually my second time going to Marco’s and ordering the exact same thing: a solo smoked meat sandwich and two Marco’s sodas. One of course is the ginger beer while the second the spruce beer to split with a friend. Truly no trip to Quebec is complete without this meal and I recommend the combo to anyone that will listen.

Large portions, I liked the salad and the bread (sous-marin). The meat was okay, didn't have much taste for me though but it was smoked. Great service and atmosphere.

Very generous portion of meat in the sandwich! Very nicely sliced :) the fries for the poutine was hot and not too dark. I shared a meal with my daughter because for us was enough as portions are not small :)

It's my 1st time in this place. The staff ( Ana ) she's very nice, friendly and fast. The chef his amazing. I watched him how he prepared our meal and he smile while he prepared our food and other customer's food. Food is amazing and I definitely highly recommend this place. Wanted to try some smoked meat whilst in Quebec so found Phil’s! Server was very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. Smoked meat sandwich was perfect. You can choose lean, medium or fatty meat and a choice of regular or Dijon mustard. The smoked meat submarine was also tasty and good portion!

The smoked meat is perfect. I ordered the classic sandwich medium smoked meat and regular smoked meat poutine. The meat is really tender and it feels like it just melted in my mouth. Really tasty. As a dessert, I ordered the tarte au sucre. This dessert is also great. Good choice after a heavy meal and you need something sweet for your sweet tooth. Although it's not in the menu, but the staff can offer you some of their dessert after your meal. The staff is also really nice and attentive. The washroom is really clean too. I will go back again next time.

Nice place in what it seemed like the downtown area. We got the spaghetti and salad with smoked meat. I think my salad was one my favorite meals on our trip. You have a choice of lean, original I think, and fatty. I chose fatty and it was so tender and just fell off my fork. The salad was not overbearing with dressing as well. The spaghetti was good. No choice of meat. We also had the sugar pie, which wasn't so sweet, but tasted like a mixture of maple and Caramel. Service was fast and friendly. Definitely a great cheap eat and value if ever in Quebec.

This place is the real deal. Love that it's a family business and there is a Phil and kids. Best smoked meat outside Montreal

People love Phil. Maybe I don't love smoked meat. I was discussing it with my wife - I love corned beef. I love brisket. Maybe I need a good sauce? We had a solo sandwich with dijon mustard, a smoked meat small poutine, and a kids cheese pizza. Everything was pretty good! The sauce on the pizza was nice. The meat tasted good on the sandwich. The poutine was poutine! I might give it 3 stars, but I think it is good smoked meat and see first line of this review. Service was super excellent - very friendly and helpful. Oh, also had a local Pilsner beer. Tasty accoutrement to the food.

Il pleuvait, il y avait des orages et marcher dans la chaleur et les odeurs de Phil Smoked Meat m'a aiguisé l'appétit alors j'ai commandé un Rabaska Cidre Classique, un demi-spaghetti avec sauce à la viande fumée et salade, et une petite poutine porc effiloché. Il n'y avait rien de demi ou de petite dans les plats ! Les spaghettis étaient délicieux, tout comme la poutine - chaude et délicieuse avec un excellent service amical. C'est à quelques pas de mon loft, donc je ferai certainement une autre visite avant de quitter Québec. ***** When I travel I like to try foods that I can't find at home - Phil Smoked Meat caught my eye and the menu made it better. It was raining, there were thunderstorms and walking in the heat and the smells of Phil Smoked Meat whetted my appetite so I ordered a Rabaska Cidre Classique, half a spaghetti with smoked meat sauce and salad, and a small pulled pork poutine. There was nothing half or small in the dishes! The spaghetti was delicious as was the poutine - hot and delicious with great friendly service. It's a short walk from my loft, so I'll definitely make another visit before leaving Quebec.

Great service and large portion. We ordered one classic with fries (changed it to poutine) between two people which was enough for us. We got the medium fat smoked beef. Meat was tasty and soft!

Smoked meat, which is akin to what we would call pastrami, was delicious. Apparently it's a thing Quebec is known for, so I had to try it. Not quite as amazingly good as what I could get from a Jewish deli back in the United States, but definitely still worth a taste. Maybe it's not fair for me to compare to that, because the restaurant itself was great, the server was nice (spoke French and English), and the ambiance was fun, but it's a little hard to get past that if you've had an epic pastrami special somewhere. I would definitely recommend trying it out if you are here, though. One thing to note: the coleslaw was super delicious. That gets 5 stars for sure.

Great smoked meat sandwich, probably best in Quebec City. Option of Lean, medium or fatty, I went with medium and it was perfect. Large portion, definitely did not need extra meat. Also loved the pickle and great service.

One of the cheapest meals in Quebec City turned to be of the best meals! I'm not 100% sure, but I think "Smoked Meat" = Pastrami. And Phil makes it absofucinglutely delicious! It was quite obvious the wife and I were tourists, but the manager and staff were extremely friendly to us. The interior isn't fancy, just clean and simple for the workers' meaty meal. The Smoke Meat here is fanfucingtastic! Thick, juicy, smokey and cooked perfectly, delicious no matter which form you decide to consume it... $14 Classique 8oz...8 generous ounces of smoked meat on rye bread with cole slaw and chips...that smoked meat...oh la la! $15.50 Greek 8oz...wife's pick: again 8 ounces of that delicious juicy tasty smoked meat on rye, but with a Greek side salad for something a bit healthier. $7.75...a half liter of a dark stout beer...delicious dark smokey liquid beer that perfectly complemented our smoked meat entrees. Phil is outside the main tourist zones and not withing walking distance, but its worth an Uber ride or rental car trip to get this thick, juicy, mouth watering deliciousness...

I was not sure what to expect, being from Texas. My buddy from Toronto says that we should go to Montreal or Quebec City and always try the Smoked Meats. Feels is one of the places that has the premier Smoked Meats. Still skeptical , I decide to have a sandwich with my friend and keep it simple. Even though Phils has everything from sausages various cuts of meat I just ordered a sandwich on rye chop that thing in half add a bit of mustard and split a pickle. Little did I know the meat was tender from a brine, and the bread was very soft. This smoke meat was as tender as could be..and.. loved.. No veggies here, except that picked spear!!. The delicate morsels of meat just fell apart. Juicy. My only regret was sharing, next time I'll get my own sandwich. Wink wink.

Pleasant local lunch experience. Fast service. Generous portions and a salad dressing so good, my husband bought a bottle to take home. Delicious tender authentic pastrami, great sour pickle and cabbage salad.

Super solid meal! Phil's has awesome smoked meat!! We ordered the smoked meat pizza and two classique sandwich orders. I've gotta say their pizza was really the best out of all we ate. Super cheesy, loaded with meat, perfectly hot and yummy. So, so, so good. Seriously get the pizza!!!! It was also larger than I expected - definitely larger than a personal sized pizza. We ended up sharing it and still had some leftover. The sandwiches were good as well but the bread they used was a little bit thin for my liking. They also have some amazing coleslaw and pickles that come with the sandwich, so I would definitely recommend getting them on the side of it doesn't come with your meal. All in all our meal came to around $50 for three people and we were left super full (with leftovers!). Service was good, but it wasn't busy since we missed the lunchtime rush and it was pretty empty in the restaurant around 3:30PM.

I'm riding the train from Quebec to Montreal as I write this...and already missing Phil's smoked meat. AMAZING little place that could be very easy to miss. Our hotel was located next door to this small place and I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to have eaten twice during our 4 day stay. It would have been 3 times, but they are closed today (Sunday). Not only is the food delicious and fresh, the staff so kind and accommodating. I ordered the fatty cuts of the beef on their in-house made bread and it was scrumptious! In addition to that, their Greek Salad is a MUST! Sounds silly, but do yourself a favor and order it. The vegetables so fresh, the feta on point and the dressing was perfect with not just the seasoning, but the oil to acid ratio. If you're in Quebec, stop by this place and get yourself a real treat!

There are some evenings after a long day in which you feel like having a chill meal to rest your mind and nourish your soul. These long days call for comfort food. This is what I was seeking. Nothing fancy shmancy. Nothing ordinary. Just wholesome goodness mixed in with local flare. If this is what you are looking for in an affordable setting then come to Phil smoked meat. I was blown away by this place. It's simple yet they have creative and delicious comfort food. On my visit I was hungry. Let's call it borderline hangry. So I decided to go with a Greek Salad and a smoked meat spaghetti. Let me explain. The Greek salad blew my mind. Fresh, crunchy salad, feta cheese and home made Greek Salad dressing. I asked them if they sold their salad dressing and they declared yes of course. An amazing secret. I borderline don't want to share it but that would be rude. They poured it out of a big jug into a nice glass bottle. They also had a sweet dressing. I got a bottle of but declined the mustard base one. They let me try all three and the Greek and sweet one were delish. I just would have to figure out how to keep it fresh for the drive back to Montreal. So at the hotel I was staying I had a fridge and then packed a bag of ice and left it in the ice for my drive back. I savoured both bottles as I came home and polished them both off in a month. For my main course I chose the smoked meat spaghetti. The ultimate comfort food. What was served was some chop chop smoked meat over a glorious meat sauce and spaghetti. The meat sauce was rich not acidic at all but a brown bolognaise style sauce. It was rich, perfect in flavor and delish. You would think with the smoked meat it would be too salty but the balance was delish. It was a massive serving. I can eat a good meal but with the salad it was huge. So some of it made it back to my hotel fridge. I need to come back here as I'm craving more as I write this review!

Today I was in search of a good Jewish deli and I found Phil's. The pastrami was awesome and so was the Dijon mustard, but the sandwich was small (hardly any bread). They tried to make up for it with way too many french fries. The coleslaw was out of this world. It was cold inside the restaurant--maybe there are too many glass windows. Also, I was uncomfortable with the waitress hovering over me while I chose the amount of my tip during the credit card transaction, even though the service was good. I would go back--just not expecting more than this.

We stopped for lunch to try our first smoked meat in Quebec. My girlfriend ordered the half spaghetti with smoked meat and salad and I had the solo sandwich. Both were very tasty and the meat tender throughout. The side salad was very fresh and their signature honey mustard style dressing was delicious. Note when you order the solo sandwich it's just the smoked meat on bread with some mustard. While it is very tasty, it's a lot of one flavor. They do not skimp on the meat. Next time, I'd add a side salad or maybe try the sandwich with Swiss cheese to mix it up a bit. The spaghetti with meat was the perfect combination of flavors.

I would give them a 4.5 but that is not possible, the half star loss is for being based in Quebec City and not having either an english menu nor someone on site that day who could understand. Dont get me wrong, I can get by in french, and I understand I was deep in french Canada, but its not like Quebec City is remote and people dont understand english there. Anyhow one dish ordered did not fare well in translation, it was still good but not what i expected. Anytime I know someone headed to Quebec City, I tell them they absolutely have to visit Phil Smoked Meat (previously it was just called Smoked Meat, but I guess Phil bought it) and everyone who comes back thanks me for the recommendation. This was one of the largest and freshest and best tasting smoked meat sandwiches I have ever bitten into. Corned Beef House in Toronto runs a close second, and Dunns in Montreal goes behind that IMO (never has schwartz's) knocked the socks off me and the group I was with, and have been back a few times, and the servings have been equally consistent. Where an item got lost in translation, was I thought I was ordering pickles (as some places will not serve the sandwich with a dill and you need to pay on top ?!?? nobody could properly explain that to me, so I thought I ordered a pickle, and received a dish of olives. haha, they were nice anyhow. And the sandwich was served with Kettle Chips, coleslaw and a dill. My frenglish has gotten me by in Jonquiere, Rimouski and even Havre Sainte Pierre, so I had to chuckle when I was brought a dish of olives as an appetizer.

I got the "SOUS-MARIN SMOKED MEAT" which was pretty delicious and filling. I tried the pizza as well and it was kind of underwhelming

Portion of smoke meat was good but small rye bread - super small. The pickle was not a sour pickle - and a small sliver - real cheap. And he makes his own pickles - so you think he would be more generous. But don't bother it wasn't good. Nothing beats strubbs. Two sandwiches $25 dollars. And I went back to ask for another sliver of a pickle (they wanted to hand it to me with bare hands and to take away. Dah. Really ! Had smoke meat at the famous SCHWARTZ DELI- they have been there forever and they are awesome and a whole sour pickle. Lol Too bad it is nice looking inside but they are lost to customer service!

A very nice lunch with excellent service. I had the half salad half spaghetti smoked meat- the salad was perfect crisp and fresh- the spaghetti was certainly different, compared to things I eat in the States. We had tarte au sucre for dessert and it was like a caramel flavor fudge-like consistency and I enjoyed all the sweetness.

Smoked meat spaghetti and the mustard sugar salad dress are incredible. Imagine the ultimate meal you can have in college and this is it.

We stopped in for take away / carry out. On Saturday about 12:30 pm, it was quiet with one diner at the counter. Hostess helped us with options and we kept it simple with a "Solo" to split for lunch. We got the mix of lean and moist brisket. Very tender meat and good flavor.

Excellent smoked meat. Generous portions and also serves good beer on tap. The seating is comfortable for a sandwich joint and the service was prompt.

I unsuspectingly picked the Smoked Meat Spaghetti and it was amazing. Lots of meat and the combination was wicked. Good beers and great service. I'll definitely bring others when I come back.

Went to Phil based on a the recommendation of a local. A quiet Saturday evening. Only a couple tables occupied inside. The service was quick and friendly. The chef was happy to tell me all about smoked meat. The smoked meat on spaghetti was moist, tender and delicious. The salad, a perfect accompaniment. If you're looking for smoked meat in Quebec, it doesn't get better than this.

The service was phenomenal - so kind, attentive and welcoming to anglophones. The Greek salad was delicious but, alas, it is a salad -- they do it right, though! My husband got the spaghetti with chopped smoked meat. He loved it!

i went in on a rainy Monday night for dinner and it was completely empty. the employee working (i'm not sure if it was the owner) was attentive, but not overbearing. he also didn't make me feel guilty when i apologized for not knowing French. i had the spaghetti with smoked meat and regret nothing. the portion size was huge for a reasonable price and it was delicious. a little far from old quebec where i was staying, but worth it!

On a blustery night in Quebec we were invited in for beautiful meals, and a blonde beer and red wine. We enjoyed a smoked meat and spaghetti meal, and a sub meal with three meats, and great company. We lingered because our luggage was in Montreal and the meal was terrific!! From Regina ,Saskatchewan.

Wonderful!!! Good price and excellent food!!! Love it!!! The waiters are too few I waited for a cup of water for 10 minutes though. Anyway, it's a good place to enjoy ur meal! 熏肉很好吃！

If you are reading this, you are probably a tourist. If so, this is a great place to escape the mediocre and overpriced tourist traps of Old Quebec. Very friendly staff, accommodating to kids, and the best smoked meat in Quebec. Try the smoked meat pizza piquante--just fantastic. Greek salad was also phenomenal. Lots of on-street metered parking nearby.
