Philippe Park

This is a very nice park with lots of great views and lots of shade. The best way to see this is to bicycle to and through the park. I traveled from Clearwater to the park via the Ream Wilson Trail and the views from the trail absolutely amazing. Florida is blessed with some of best bicycle trails that I have ever witnessed. The Duke Energy Trail has lots of beautiful curves and that in itself will keep you entertained while traveling on a bicycle. So if diversity is what you are after keep this points in mind

Little hidden gem of a park that sits off Tampa Bay in Safety Harbor. Great for planning an event as the pavilions are very reasonable to rent for the entire day. We booked #7 with the water views and it was only $35. They do book up fast, especially on the weekends/holidays. Parking is free, bathrooms are easily found. It's great for walking, or bringing your dog. Many people take family photos here. The trees are rustic and old, and the park is well maintained. Very much used by the locals in the area!

There are shaded tables and grills throughout the park. Wonderful trails for walking, jogging, dog walking, or just casual strolls. Multiple playgrounds for kids. Huge old trees throughout, many draped in Spanish Moss, offer spectacular vistas to see and photograph. Multiple areas for recreation such as volleyball, baseball/softball, fishing, and canoeing. We have enjoyed this park for over 30 years and have attended multiple company functions and family gatherings. The Indian Mound is paved and offers a glimpse into the past. Informational markers all along the way. Roads are paved (and 15 mph), easily traversed by car, bike, or walking. Almost every area offers scenic views of the northern tip of Tampa Bay waters. Something new to me was a series of rocks that I first thought maybe a rock garden, but closer examination revealed a series of climbing rocks for kids. It's a great place, wonderfully maintained. Plane to spend an hour or more enjoying it, with friends or family, or alone. Peaceful....

Beautiful bay front county park on Safety Harbor. Plenty of shelters with picnic tables and lots of displays about the history of the land. The top of the Indian mound has a nice view of the harbor.

Took my daughter to Philippe Park, and it was such a meaningful experience. I love being able to share the rich history of the park—especially learning and talking about the Native American heritage and the ancient ceremonial mound. It’s a powerful reminder of the people who lived here long before us. Beyond the history, the park is absolutely beautiful—massive oak trees, peaceful waterfront views, and plenty of space to slow down, walk, reflect, and connect. A perfect place to educate, explore nature, and make lasting memories together. A true local treasure. 🌳🌊

Philippe Park is a beautiful hidden gem on Tampa Bay with everything you could want in a Florida park. It has clean picnic areas, covered gazebos with barbecue grills, and scenic walking and bike trails that wind through peaceful, shady areas filled with palm trees and moss-covered oaks. The waterfront views are incredible, and the boat ramp gives easy access for anyone wanting to get out on the water. What really makes this park special is the natural wildlife and history. It’s a great spot for bird lovers, with frequent sightings of owls and other local species. One of the highlights is the historic Tocobaga Indian mound located inside the park, adding a unique cultural experience to your visit. Great park for holding events so long as you don't mind another party on both sides of you. It stays pretty busy so our seniors dinner was.... Gifted rather loud music from the cars parked at the next spot over. It's very much about the money. Just go to any other park and you'll be alot happier. If you're here for a nice walk you've got a good park for it! It's definitely not all bad at all. Lots of nice rolling hills. The scenery is beautiful and the ocean side path is very enjoyable.

One of the best park In Pinellas. We were there at the morning. I was surprised that so many people jogging and biking in the same time. This park is very active. Parking is plenty. We were invited for the bird watching trip. Our goal was the painted bunting. We were not able spot one but we enjoy the trip that we saw a lot of different birds. That includes wood packer, cardinals, sandpiper and more. Our trip is great for the nature walk. We saw several stingray at the bay. Many types of butterflies.

First time visiting this park in Clearwater that I never even knew existed! This is a beautiful park lots of area to ride a bike around or hike. Also a nice walking area with stairs that lead you up to get a nice view of the bay. They do have a park, the FL sun still gets ahold of it so it does get hot to the touch. Also, it was a little difficult finding a restroom, but they do have some here. Next time I'll be taking a picture of the map before traveling to the back. So yeah, this is probably my newest favorite park locally and I will be back.

One of our favorite scenic park to take the kids. We went there mainly for the shaded coverings as it can be hot and it's nice to go to a park with plenty of shade. We went in early March and there happen to be alot of the furry caterpillars around. I believe they're called Tussock Moth. Accidental touching of the furry caterpillar will irritate the skin, but it was hard to completely avoid them as they were everywhere due to the eggs hatching on Oak trees. So I would say to my future self, avoid the park with kids, during Tussock Moth season. Other than that, it's a wonderful huge park. You can even walk along the water to hopefully catch a dolphin swimming near by. We did that as well and enjoyed the breeze by the water. It's also a park where there are plenty of photographers taking family pictures, etc. Go check it out yourself, you won't be dissappointed.

I love this area for meet friends and groups for a run. I've also completed races here as well. It's shaded and has beautiful views. You can see wildlife too.

Came here for a picnic. The park is well hidden but has a boat dock, parking $3, picnic shelters and grills, and restroom buildings. Our group was very comfortable in the shade of the shelter and it was a beautiful day. Shelters need to be reserved ahead of time. The only drawback was I didn't see any beach area where I could put my feet in the water. But it was beautiful there.

Such a beautiful park. It is so peaceful and plenty of places to walk, bike, have a picnic or meditate or nap. Lots of shade to keep the sun off you as you explore the large park. There are trails to walk on or a lot of people were walking on the main road as well. There are two playgrounds, clean restrooms and lots of picnic shelters to have a family gathering or eat your lunch. There is lots of parking available, it wasn't busy when we came but I'm sure it gets busy on the weekend. Lots of people brought their dogs to walk and enjoy the scenery. Definitely loved this park and vast variety of things to see. We will be back for sure!!!

I love this park. It's beautiful! There's huge, beautiful trees, water, picnic tables, and restrooms. And it's all free! I've seen people kayaking and using (very) small boats here, so I want to remember this for my own paddle boarding adventures with my husband. The water is almost always pretty calm too so it should be a nice easy paddle. It's also dog friendly! I took my dog here and we found our way to the "mini beach" to wade in the water a little bit. There are no rinse stations for your feet though so be aware of that. I don't think it's intended to walk in much. But definitely add this to your places to go! It's beautiful. Pack water! Stay cool!

Nice park, bring your pup and walk along the water. Even has a few watering stations picnic areas and lots of fields for some outdoor fun.

Beautiful, relaxing and huge. What more can I say?! We spent a Sunday evening here enjoying the fresh air and limited humidity. I like this park because there's a ton you can do- bike, fish, swim, kayak and etc. even at its busiest, it's so big, you can't tell! This is great during times when social distancing is important!

Pristine grounds, palm trees swaying in the breeze, scenic walking trail, waterfront views, playgrounds, ample parking, and clean restrooms. What more could you want from a free park? Philippe Park is nestled along the bay between Oldsmar and Safety Harbor. Its walking trail takes you through the entire park and onto Bayshore Drive, which leads to the Safety Harbor Pier! Typically this walk takes about two hours round trip, including a walk to the end of the pier. Occasionally you'll find bird watchers gathering around the trees where you can see huge owls. Super trendy destination for photographers capturing families and couples. You may recognize the famous stone wall and windy staircase. Overall a peaceful experience during the week, and a bit crowded during summer weekends. Perfect place to bring out-of-town guests that enjoy long walks or lazy days in the park.

This park is so beautiful!!! Definitely worth a stop for a nice walk, a picnic, or just to sit and enjoy the scenery. Plenty of parking, and clean restrooms. While you're there check out the other shops and eateries in downtown Safety Harbor, such a cute and underrated area!

What a beautiful park to have fun at. I love riding my bike through there and having a blast with the kids at the playgrounds. They also have a nice little boat ramp that you can go and drop your boat off at and fish inside the bay.

I visited here because an orginazation I belong to was having a get together. It was a bright, but chilly autumn afternoon, and the park was full of people. We had shelter #9, and the view was absolutely gorgeous. We took full advantage of the amenities the park had to offer: The picnic tables, the parking, the grills and the restrooms. Our kids had fun at the swings and in the large fields. This is an absolute treasure to the town of Safety Harbor, Fl. I'm glad I've been introduced, I'll certainly be coming back.

Beautiful park right in the heart of Safety Harbor. Perfect place to start a Saturday or Sunday morning and walk around by old Tampa Bay and down their meandering trails. You may even see a deer or a gopher turtle Afterwords definitely check out downtown for a great place to eat like The Sandwich on Main.

This is a great park, one of the best in Pinellas county. The park is situated right on the harbor with beautiful views. Love all the shade provided by the oak trees through the park. Great place for a birthday party or a picnic. Kids play area is also super fun. Little sketch but fun.

This park in incredible. It's got beautiful water view plenty of parking, and lots of areas to go. We have come here for family photos, throw birthday parties, dipped our feet in the water, come for ice cream, and come to play in the park. This park has something for everyone. Strongly recommend!

Philippe Park is one of the nicest parks in the Tampa area. It sits on the water just outside of Safety Harbor and has beautiful views of the bay. It's unique in the fact that it's covered by old-growth oak trees which provide plenty of shady spots to spend your day. The bathrooms are well maintained (and plentiful) as are all of the picnic areas (reservation required). There is an Indian mound near the center of the park that at one time, served as the center of an Indian community. A plack near the mound states that the theory is that either the tribal leader, or the spiritual leader of the tribe had his/her residence on the top of the mound. A brisk walk up to the top of the mound will leave you breathless until you notice the gorgeous stone walled path at the rear of the mound that gently leads you back to sea level. The path feels like something out of Lord of the Rings and it's my favorite part of the park. During the weekends, the park can get crowded, but you can usually find a nice, secluded spot to relax. If you go during the week, you can have your pick of spots. There's also plenty of parking.

This beautiful bayside 122 acre park is located just north of the town of Safety Harbor at 2525 Philippe Pkwy. It's one of the most serene and beatific locals in all of Tampa Bay. It's on the northwest shore of Old Tampa Bay. The park is named after Count Odet Philippe, who is credited with introducing grapefruit to Florida. There's lots of picnic tables and large covered areas that would be ideal for a family reunion or any large event. There are plenty of trails and pets are allowed as long as they're on a leash. If you've never been to Philippe Park, go as soon as you can1

Quiet country park with sanitary restrooms and wonderful waterfront along Old Tampa Bay. Ideal wedding venue but reserve early. Great for dogs and kids. Shady, giant oaks and tidal mangrove mini-beaches!

I can't believe this park exists - it's like I'm in a fairy tale! It is beyond gorgeous with Spanish moss hanging from Live Oak trees and consistent breeze from water; my favorite is the canopy roads, which is absolutely breathtaking...a great place for my homesickness because I really miss driving down Miccosukee road from my hometown,Tallahassee, which is lined with canopy trees! I see why many people come here for family pictures or to take pic. for other special occasions. It's very family oriented with a kid's playground & picnic tables scattered underneath trees. We observed a student get together where lots of hammocks were strung up between palm trees - def. one of the the best ways to spend a Sat.! The only thing I observed that needs improvement is that there weren't many trails for walkers, so we ended up on the road - wish they'll fix it soon!

Best park around! So much to do and see. Beautiful trees, awesome water views, great place for photographs by the Indian mound, and a great place for exercise. Sometimes on my lunch break I go there to eat. The water therapy is amazing. There's also a boat ramp, several pavilions, and playgrounds.

We first heard about this park from a vendor who did our company picnics for us one year and decided to host ours at Philippe Park and I must say that I was not disappointed. It's in the same area as Safety Harbor and there is plenty of shades, picnic shelters and activities to do around here. There are also cops driving around so you definitely feel safe. There isn't much of a walkway here so you have to walk on the road or in the grass but my fur babies didn't mind and it's such a great and relaxing place to be. I love every visit to Philippe Park and there couldn't be a more safer park that I would feel safe at. Parking can be a little hectic at the picnic shelters but for the most part, there's a lot of areas where you can park. I definitely plan to return!

So fun! We parked right at the entrance and had to walk on a path that was made by other walkers along the water. Otherwise you are walking in the street. I recommend parking further into the park. We went up the steps at the end and down to the secluded water front beach area with our dog. She absolutely loved it. The views of the water are gorgeous.

Philippe Park is a great spot to meet up with a group of friends and spend the afternoon. We recently rented a shelter (you do have to pay and reserve in advance) for a grill out. The shelter had plenty of space and the charcoal grill was large enough to cook up burgers, hot dogs, and other items in mass quantities. The best part about Philippe Park though is that there is so much to explore, look at, and enjoy. They have some cool playground areas for the kids (including a rock wall), there are ruins, there is a fantastic view of the water that can be taken in along the length of the park, there are wooded areas that I have used to play soccer with kids, and there is the grave of the park's namesake. I have walked the entire length of this park and I still sometimes find little oddities. There is a tree that has another tree growing inside of it. It is really neat. You can also launch kayaks out into the water. The park has a historic hill and placards throughout. Overall, it is a very enjoyable park. It might not be the best for runners (although it is possible...just not great), but it is great for picnics and exploring. I love Philippe Park and I will be back again soon.

Very nice, clean park. Little bit of a drive from Tampa but we'll worth it. If you approach a large tree with photographers around it....it's an owl they are taking pictures of...with a baby..as of 2/8/22. Also have paddle boards you can rent. Will definitely be back!!

What a beautiful park. We came here after walking around downtown Safety Harbor as well as the Sunday Farmer's market. There are beautiful views here, and lots of history. There's actually a little bit of elevation here which is a nice surprise. There are areas to walk and take beautiful pics of nature, beautiful water views. Families do picnics here and have parties. There are grills and areas for that. It is also a great place to bring your pet. This is a picturesque park with so many views. Love love!

Most beautiful spot with elevation in the Tampa Bay area. The park has a ancient Indian burial ground if you walk through and go all the way to the end you can walk up the hill and see it. The view is spectacular from this area you can see out over the water. Plenty of pavilions in the park lots of space easy walking good area well laid out for traffic as well. We enjoyed the afternoon watching the birds watching the water i'm just enjoying all that nature can show us.

I really like this park. It's on Safety Harbor and Old Tampa Bay. There are places to walk and put in your boat as well as BBQ pits and benches. I walk along the paved sidewalk and have pictures of Bonehead Sharks swimming along the bank. Very safe although there has been a bear spotted there in the last year. Not sure where that guy came from. I feel safe walking so you should as well.

Beautiful park!!! Great for pictures! So many beautiful scenery spots where pictures turn out so great. We've have family pictures taken a few times here and our family has had engagement photos taken here. When we were taking pictures this past weekend there were actually a few weddings going on. And it appears local photographers know the spots as well. We've also had our daughters birthday here a few times as well. Shaded park with lots of picnic shelters. You can also reserve shelters online. Highly recommend this park. This is one of Tampa's best parks.

Beautiful park. My parents got married here and I intend to do the same!! I take my golden here to swim (there is a small beach ish area- not really mush of a beach, more like a lil' patch of sand. But anything works for Penny and I) and run around. One time dolphins actually swam up to us. This being said, be sure to take care of it (pick up dog poops, etc).

My personal favorite park in the Tampa Bay Area. There's so much to see and it makes for great photography session. You can capture everything from old oak trees, the open sea water, stone steps, open fields, and much more - simply beautiful!

We often meet clients at Philippe Park for photo sessions. We have never been disappointed. There are so many great areas to shoot families, couples and individuals for a photo session. Parking is plentiful and easy. There is a lot of shade. This park is wonderful b/c it provides a natural greenery back drop that looks so wonderful in photos. Plus the water views are amazing too.

This is a wonderful 122 acre park for a stroll, picnic, or bike ride. If you ride to the south end, you can proceed across a pedestrian/bike bridge, in to a neighborhood, and end up in downtown Safety Harbor. The park contains a ceremonial Indian mound, built by the Tocobago Native Americans. This spot is believed to have been their capital for at least 600 years! In 1528, Panfilo de Narvaez popped by with 400 conquistadors. Four survived the harrowing expedition. In 1566, Pedro Menendez de Aviles, the founder of St Augustine, dropped in while searching for a waterway across Florida. He is reported to have brokered a truce between the Tocobago and the Culusa tribes. He founded an outpost to spread Christianity but, it was wiped out within a year and the Tocobago village was deserted. In the end, the Tocobago people were exterminated by a combination of European disease and forced slavery. In 1840, a Frenchman, Count Odet Philippe, decided to move here with his family. He was the very first European settler in what was to become Pinellas County. He left his family on the site, sailed down to Cuba to get some grapefruit, came back, and started a plantation. Reportedly, his descendants include the McMullen and Booth families. Philippe is believed to be buried in the park but nobody knows exactly where. Bottom line... It's gorgeous and serene. Please ponder the history as you walk underneath the live oaks, watch the wide variety of native butterflies flit about, and enjoy the breeze. Imagine being there in 1566 or 1840. I do, right before I go back to air conditioned comfort.

The best park ever. Always clean facilities. Shelters are also clean and plentiful. Lots of nice shady trees and good walking path along the water.

I have been here before but this is the first time with my dog. This is a beautiful park to walk around, lovely scenic views and landscaping. Cool old trees and Indian Hill landmark where kids like to run to the top. Dogs must remain on leash here at all times. I can see why it is a very popular place. I would go again with my dog. He. Liked exploring and sniffing around the walking area and the steps and also along the water edge from a walkway that is kinda like a breaker. There is also a pavilion area and lots of places to sit and take in the views This was in December 2020

This one has clear walking paths, with views of the water. Great for sitting, fishing, walking, or relaxing. With beautiful views of the water this park is scenic and offers tranquility...Fun facts: Philippe Park is named after Count Odet Philippe who is credited with introducing grapefruit to the state of Florida in 1823. (whhhaattt) :) Great Amenities are 8 picnic shelters with grills reserve shelters online, boat ramp (fee charged) fishing - saltwater license may be required historic interest/Indian mound, 2 playgrounds, softball field, water fountains and restrooms. Great spot to picnic, play and walk. You can also put your kayak in the water here. My favorite is the bayside walking path

Oh we are so thankful for this park, especially during the quarantine. It was a bit of heaven on earth. So nice to simply set and enjoy nature. Thank you

Beautiful park with all the trees and very big so even if there are a lot of cars there it is still not crowded. My dog absolutely loves it! The water is beautiful, as well!

This is a wonderful park to visit for a walk, picnic, play or sitting and watching the water. Also very close to downtown safety harbor makes for a great dinner afterwards since the park closes at dusk. Lots of shade from trees is something the parks near my home are missing. This park is a perfect place to come for a day trip. Lots of clear paths to walk and the fact the park sits on water gives me a tranquil feel.

Part is great, but you'll second guess coming here if you want clear lungs, smokers ruin your fresh air, exercise or hike throughout the park.

Tranquil, beautiful, and adventurous park! i love this park, every time I go, whether on a walk, ride or just a stop to see what is new & beautiful! The heritage of the park is something as beautiful and unique as the park! Visit, you won't regret a moment!
